This was one of the worst car buying experiences of my life.My wife and I are loyal volvo customers and in fact bought our current volvo from this dealership when in was know as Highland Park Volvo. Due to this we were excited to return for the purchase of another vehicle. My wife and I wasted two hours waiting to speak to the finance manager about purchasing a new xc60. Once she was finished talking to a previous customer for over two hours while knowing we were waiting with our child she was exceptionally dismissive We were told that we were trying buy a car that she thought was too expensive for us after telling us we technically COULD afford the car. Our credit score is in the mid 600’s and we have an annual salary over $200,000.The only incentive we were given was customer loyalty of $500 after taxes (because it is a popular car: we were told), and told to look at purchasing a less expensive car. The finance manager was extrememly condescending at times saying “I’m just asking for more of a down payment, its not like I’m personally going to spend that money.” When we said ok, we will then defer and wait to purchase she asked “What are you waiting for/” and then suggested we just get a less expensive car for 2 years and then trade it in 2-3 years from now for what we want. I believe it is common knowledge that trading in a used car for a new car especially if the care has not been paid off can be a risky proposition.
We contacted another dealership in Schamburg after leaving and were astounded!!! We were given the information we needed, were told about the customer loyalty incentive from the beginning which happen to be $1000 not $500, and generally were treated with greater respect and consideration.
While we understand that everyone has bad days, we have never been treated in such a blatantly disrespectful manner. We do want to be fair and mention that our sales associate was excellent. The floor manager was excellent and appropriate. Our dissatisfaction does not lie with them or the facilities.
