On a trip to attend a wedding, I experienced intermittent and random no start problems. I took the car to Saturn of Totowa as I had purchased my car from a sister dealership, trusting that they would be the best at diagnosing and fixing the problem. I was told it was a major repair that involved massive oil leaks, even though I had not been losing oil on this trip from home (over 900 miles away), and two other dealers within the previous 10 days doing maintenance work on the car (oil change and belt replacement) did not indicated any oil issues. Being stuck so far from home, I consented to the repair which cost of $1400, putting faith into their diagnostics. I picked up the car two days later and started my return trip home. When stopping to refuel over 400 miles away, the car did the same, exact, no start thing. To make a long story short, after taking the car to my normal Saturn dealership at home, they found the problem to be a wire short and repaired it at a much lower cost. When I called Saturn of Totowa, to complain and try to get credited for their needless “repair”, I was blown off by the service manager, told that they always get the repairs right, and that my car was barely driveable when I brought it there, that I could have seen the “bad parts”(never offered) and that I was there the whole time of the repair (hardly possible, since I was at a wedding)–all of which were total lies. He never acknowledged that I still had the problem the next day. And he had the nerve to tell me that they had only done the repair to “help me out.” I guess he meant helping me out of my money. GM does nothing regarding its dealerships other than sending what is basically a slap on the wrist. So, beware of the misdiagnoses and arrogance of this service department. Now that Saturn is being discontinued, I’m sure this dealership will close, but until then I’d run, not walk to another dealership to do my repairs.
