I just wanted to write a good review about this dealership I didn’t buy there but my friend did. I just wanted to say that every person we meet at the dealership was amazing we meet everyone from the detailer to the general manager , we also found out that they are under new management. who ever hired these guys did a great job , because my friend Jennifer was so happy with her purchase I am going to buy a new car next week , we will for sure tell all our friends about big red sports . Great job guys .);)
1-9-13 went to big red sports and imports.they really pressured me into buying a car. i already had a car threw another dealership,i was trying to get out from under it because of the interest rate,21 percent. tyler the salesman and the finance guy nick told me that was insane and how they didnt do that here at big red sports and imports.they had stated that the interest rate would be around 4.9.i was unable to get into a new car but that had something else for me. i had a choice between 2 cars. i ended up with a 2007 malibu, the price seemed fair at first 9,090.we finally after being there for 6 hours got to the paperwork after figuring numbers all day.nick the finance guy did nothing but talk about his life stories pretty much all threw the paperwork process.several times i asked the mean man what my payments were going to be as well as the interest rate, well…he pretty much blew me off and returned to his stupid life stories. aftter being there pretty much all day i was getting tired. he went threw the paperwork so fast i didnt even know what happened. as we were getting ready to go he quickly folded up the paperwork and handed it to me. my husband went to shake his hand and i couldnt believe it nick rudely turned and walked away not even paying him any mind. funny as it may sound i still didnt know what my payments were or the interest rate. we were leaving the lot and i seen the salesman tyler..so i asked him as well again hey what are my payments and the interest rate? he simply said i dont know and its all in your paperwork.when i got home i seen my payments were 339. a month and the interest rate was guess what…21 percent. keep in mind this is after they both told me how insane that was and they would never do that…my total price for the car ended up being 20.350 dollars for 5 years. keep in mind car started at 9,090. and there was something about gap never explained what that was either costing me 600 dollars.added another 2500 for this great warranty with the 21 percent interest as well. i was in shock i couldnt believe they screwd me over like that. all they did was lie. i called the very next day told them i was bringing the car back, there was no one around to talk to and the lady said she would give them the message to return my call, waited awhile NEVER heard anything back so we just drove there. when i tried to take it back less then 24 hours later, nick was not there, and they referred me to this lovely asshole guy name scott.. he was extremely RUDE AND TOLD ME I WAS STUCK WITH IT,and if i left the car in the lot he would have it towed back to my home within the hour, now what kind of crap is that? it does state in the paperwork they can take the car back if they want to but before i could finish my sentence he cut me off and told me he wasnt about to take that car back. pretty much it was my problem he didnt even care that i was lied to. totally misled and ripped off all i wanted was out of the contract and to give the car back. funny all they could do is down the car lot i went threw with the car i already had, calling them names etc. sure sounds like they are the ones that are messed up.believe me i am not stopping here. we all need to get together and do something about big red sports and imports. i agree with all of the other people that have dealt with them,DO NOT EVER EVER DEAL WITH THEM,THEY ARE NOTHING BUT RUDE LYING CHEATING SCAMING JERKS!!! a truly pissed off person!
Just a quick review from what they did to a family memeber. She went in needing a car and not knowlaedgable on cars, they took her to the bank. They had her sign a lease for this really bad p.o.s. car. The interior was not even in the “good” range. She took it in for an oil change after driving it for 4 months and they found the oil was just sludge, radiator was pure water, and the tranny fluid is burnt and old. Of course the dealer says in the time she been driving this it all happened. Then when they took it back to have this dealership to try to “right” their wrong they turned into the complete you know whats and told them to leave. They also told her comeback in 6 months from the beginnning of the lease and she could trade up. Another freaking lie. Avoid this place at all cost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On May 13, 2012 my wife and I heard an ad on the radio that Big Red Kia was selling 2012 Kia Souls for $99.00 a month. Seeing as our car got 16 MPG, and the Soul was rated at 36 MPG, we figured the fuel savings would pay for the car.
At this point we looked online at the Big Red Kia website and checked to see what our trade-in was worth, their calculator said $1700 to $2100 in trade value. Next we filled out the online credit application to see if we qualified. I am self employed so qualification is difficult.
About a week and a half later I received a phone call saying that Big Red Kia approved us on the credit application. I then scheduled an appointment to see Big Red Kia on May 25th. We live about 100 miles from Big Red Kia, so it was quite a distance.
After a 6 hour process of being told time and time again that Big Red Kia couldn’t approve our purchase of the 2012 Kia Soul, and trying to run different numbers to make the financing work, Big Red Kia finally said they could approve us for a 2010 Forte (used of course).
I think it was a combination of fatigue and emotional highs and lows from all the number running, but we finally just bought the 2010 Forte. This was a huge mistake! I should have known that if it was that hard to get the loan approval, we simply could not afford the car. This proved true a week later when I found out I was taking a 30% cut in net revenue.
That whole week, from June 4th to June 7th, I tried to find out why I was taking a cut in pay, and if there was anything I could do to fix it. I am still fighting that battle, but by the 8th I realized that even if I fought and won, at the new year I was still going to take the pay cut during contract renewal.
At this point I called Big Red Kia to explain I could no longer afford the vehicle. I never got the opportunity to explain because the Big Red Kia stand was “You bought the car, its yours!” To this date that is all I have ever heard from Big Red Kia. I was hoping for some option that didn’t include me keeping the car, and more importantly the loan that went with the car.
The same day the finance company called me trying to verify my income. They actually listened to the whole situation, and some time later the next week decided not to finance the car at all. However, I did get a call from Big Red Kia on June 13th explaining it was my fault the finance company wouldn’t finance the car and that I had been moved from bank financing to in-house Big Red Kia financing at the same rate and payment. Again Big Red Kia didn’t want to hear how I could not afford the financing or the car, and had no solution except “You bought the car, its yours!”
On June 16th I returned the car to Big Red Kia and gave them a letter requesting return of my trade-in and the $2500 down payment. Big Red Kia said we would not do that and that they would treat this as a voluntary repossession and report it to the credit reporting agencies.
So as it stands now:
1) I have no car
2) I have no cash
3) And I have even worse credit than when I started
THIS DEALERSHIP LIES AND TREATS CUSTOMERS LIKE CRAP! THEY LIE AND TELL YOU THAT YOU ARE APPROVED LIKE YOU WANTED AND THEY CAN GET YOU IN THE VEHICLE BUT IT IS JUST A PLOY TO GET YOU THERE SO YOU CAN GET LIED TO AND RIPPED OFF!! THEY COMMIT COMPLETE FRAUD ON EVERYTHING THEY DO AND ACT LIKE YOU HAVE NO CHOICE. THEY CHANGE THINGS ON YOUR CONTRACT AND TELL YOU THE “LENDER” MADE THEM, WHICH IS A LIE, THEY USE FAMILY INFO, WHEN YOU ASKED THEM NOT TO, THEY GET YOU TO SIGN AND THEN CALL AND HARASS YOU AND CUSS AT YOU. DO NOT TRUST ANY OF THEM.
Dealership took advantage of a young man’s first car buying experience. I went in to buy the car, my first car, and they tried every trick in the book. My dad finally got them to agree to the price. The finance guy tried to sell us everything but my dad only wanted GAP insurance. They did not have the car in stock but had to bring it in from another dealer. NNo one would call us back on the approval, on when the car would be ready, when we could pick it up. Micheal, Calvin and Jared are the finance people there. NO ONE KNOWS ANYTHING….Finally my dad takes care fo it and get the rate and payment quoted to him, I have to go pick it up…..Well they addedd a warranty of 1400 without telling me, hid the paperworkme it was my promise to provide insurance and folded the [papers and escoreted me to my car. No window tint done, no spoiler as agreed in the deal. Now I have to pay extra….No walk through. My dad reads the paperwork and they screwedm me over. No salesperson, or sales manager Scott will call back. THe GM Jared, 405-808-3272 won’t return phone calls as he is “TOO BUSY TO DEAL WITH CUSTOMERS” What a sham, I called back today and they fired Micheal the finance guy….Hmmm SHOCK THERE!! My advice, they are crooked and will not do you right. GO to BOB MOORE in Edmund OK…they are a good dealership with honesty!
big red had a recall i took my 2006 to have it repaired big red broke my ar now if i pull up to a stop sign or red light and i try to use my air , my car will turn off and my car knocks i took it back to big red iwas told if iwanted to have my car checked out that i would have to pay ato have it tested 100.00 after they told me to bring the car back out there so they could look at it.please never go there .and the young lady that was their she was so cruel and disrespectfull. dont go their thek are lier.
DO NOT GO TO BIG RED SPORTS!! I went to this dealership after hearing about a program that helps people get their credit established. The salesperson talked me into getting a 2011 Kia Optima which I wasn’t really interested in, but I’m trying to get my credit
re established so I went with it. After signing the documents I said to the finance guy. “Now your not going to call me in a few days telling me to bring the car back are you?” He says, “No of course not, if we couldn’t get you financed we wouldn’t allow you to drive it off the lot.”
After 5 days I get a call from someone in their finance department saying we need you to come in and sign new paperwork because we were able to get your interest rate lowered. I said, “Oh yeah you were able to get my interest rate lowered?” he said, Yes! I go to the dealership to sign the papers to get my interest rate lowered and I’m so excited. The finance guy tells me they couldn’t get me financed. I said excuse me I was told my interest was lowered and that was the reason for me coming in!! A big lie to get me back in I can’t believe people do people like that. I can’t believe the person that called me and told me that lie can go to sleep tonight. Those people should be ashamed of themselves for doing people like that. I was so excited that I was getting my credit back on track and I had a new car. I went and got the windows tinted thinking this vehicle was financed. They don’t care about huring peoples feelings it’s all about the business. I will be reporting them to the BBB!!! These people have no ethics or morals what so ever!!!
Told me the car was in pristine condition. It had a lot of hidden problems that I didn’t detect when I bought it.
They lie about it. Would not recommend this dealership to anyone.
HORRIBLE- Screwed us over BAD. Aside from the money part of it ( someone they added prices in throughout the process) we drove it oof the lot and the check engine light came on. We did test drive it first, so we thought surely they will at least TRY to do something about it. NOPE, not at all…. They were actually rude as soon as we took it back. SO now we are paying to get our NEW car fixed. THEY ARE SHADY. DO NOT GO TO THEM. I have bought from several dealers and this BY FAR is the worst experience I have ever had.
first off, a NEW car would be under warranty. a NEW TO YOU car may not. if you bought it with the check engine light on, you should have told the sales person. no one can predict when a warning light may come on, so if it was not on when you bought it, how could anyone know it would come on?
and if you’ve bought from several dealers and this is the worse, obviously norman chrysler jeep dodge isnt someone
you’ve bought from.
I first checked out their site and went in to look at a used car they had posted on the internet. When I got there the car wasn’t there so the salesman showed me some other vehicles in my price range. We talked for a while over one of them and I told them I was going to go look at another dealership to make sure I got the best deal for me and that’s when the pressure to ‘buy now!’ increased tenfold. I did end up purchasing a vehicle from them because they talked a great game that day and when I left I felt fairly good about the purchase, until I got home and realized they’d added 6 months to the contract. So, I called the next day and told the finance guy I’d worked with that I found this unacceptable and that if we couldn’t fix it that I’d just return the car. He hemmed and hawed and tried to make it my confusion that caused the error, so I told him very bluntly that I’d asked my 2 companions to clear it up for me, and that we all 3 heard the same numbers. To this he told me he’d get it worked out and that if I came in that day he’d have new paperwork drawn up for me to sign, but I needed to make sure I talked to him about this. I went in and signed the paperwork on my lunch break and was told I couldn’t have a copy right then because the sales team was in a meeting so he’d have to mail them to me after he got them approved. I got my paperwork from the finance company we went through and the 6 months are still on the term AND all of my calls to the management of the dealership are deflected and I am promised calls back. I was there for approximately 5 hours the day of purchase and I’ve spent more hours than I care to count attempting to get the situation resolved since then. Be extremely careful when dealing with this group, as honesty is obviously not their best policy.
When our Suzuki Forenza only had less than 10k we brought it in for warenty items (Air Bag Light) (Air presure light) The first visit was for air bag light and the repair lasted until five miles down the road. The second visit was for both issues to be fixed and both repairs only lasted a couple of weeks. Know we have reached almost 50k and have taken it in for warented drive train because transmition slipping. I was charged $118 dollars and told that it was a part that wasnt cover under warenty and would cost $320 for them to do the repairs.I call the parts department the very next day to get the price of the part because our local auto part doesnt stock it.The parts department asked for the ven number of the car. With the ven number they could identify who I am and gave me a cost of $185 for the part. I call three other dealers and found that the part is less than $50.I had the part overnighted to me from a dealer in Broken Bow OK for around $65. I changed the part out myself in about 15min. You can veiw this on You Tube. WHAT A RIP OFF.
Horrible experience ! Liars ! Bought a new car and they tacted on things in the finance office ( ya know where they try to get you to buy a bunch of crap you don’t need) They added a $3500 extended warrenty that was NEVER mentioned to me, $800 (crap) oops….. I mean (gap )policy that I told the guy I didn’t want and found out on the next business day, when I went back to get these things corrected that a $2695 service fee is for future service done by them to maintain the factory warrenty ! This was never mentioned to me and I cannot get out of it ! I went back to get all this stuff fixed, got the $3500 extended warrenty and gap removed. The asshole that tried to screw me in the first place got an attitude with me ! I’m the type of guy to just whip someone’s ass when they deserve it and this guy did ! I will never ever buy another car from this place and I will never buy another car without getting pre-approval from my bank! That would have saved me so much crap ! I will say that I got a great car, but the stress and crooked bullshit sucked ! These guys only care about getting every single penny they can get out of you, not making good relationships so they get return customers. It’s really a shame ! Take my advice….take your lawyer with you.
Disgusted.
A pretty good experience until we walked out because of price gap and on our way out we heard a sarcastic and rude comment about us over the PA system. I think whoever make the comment was not aware that the PA was on.
Someone should be fired.
Big Red Sports and Imports uses old school slimy used car marketing by advertising an internet price that is 15% lower than what you can buy the car for. Yes this is disclosed in their small print, but you have to read through a long paragraph of other conditions before getting to the sentence disclosing that price shown on website requires 15% cash down or financing in addition to the advertised price. There are too many good dealers in the OKC metro area that don’t resort to false advertising to get you to their lot. With this type of trickery it makes me suspicious of their representations about the repair record, car history etc. On the issue of repair record, they also refuse to show the repair record on their cars – what are they hiding??? I’ll definitely never buy a car from Big Red.
Saw the new Sportage on tv and sent in my information on the internet after looking at them on Big Red’s site. Brittany called me shortly and answered several questions I had. Set an appointment and was hosted by Derek Sills. He was very patient with me and up front. No smoke involved, just a fair deal for both sides. Took less than a couple of hours. I’ll definitely be back. Thanks Big Red.
🙂 The owner Chris with Big Red Sports contacted me to bring my vehicle in so the service department could check out my vehicle. I was hesitant at first, but glad to know the service department took their time to evaluate my vehicle and are willing and promised to have my concerns addressed. Chris imformed me his dealership is about making their customers happy with the sale and so far I can say they are going far beyond the call of taking care of me. I do appreciate it and look forward to having everything taken care of.
🙁 Smooth talking got the sale and after words forget about any assistance with any problem you might have. The wrong lug nuts were put on my car and were loose. Gene says well you said it didn’t matter if the lug nuts didn’t match while you were waiting for the new ones. That is true but when Firestone brings to my attention the lug nuts fit a chevy and not a nissan and were loose I was livid. Safety is not Big Red Sport and Imports in Norman Oklahoma priority. Beware and warn your family and loved ones. You will regret buying from them.
😡 I purchased a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder from Big Red. I did not notice the front drivers side tire was at least a 1/4 bald and should not have been driven off the lot. I went to Firestone to purchase a set of tires to find out the lock nut was not with the vehicle. I went back to the dealership and at the service department was told there was nothing they could do I would have to goto Nissan. Of course this was unacceptable since I hadn’t even had my car a week. I spoke with one of the sales manager’s his name I won’t mention and brought my situation to his attention. I was advised they would try to see what they could do. Meanwhile I asked the salesman to come look at the tire that was on the front. The general manager was beside my car and I asked him to look at my tire as well. The general manager’s immediate response was, you bought it as is. I can say if I would have met the general manager in the beginning I would not have even considered buying a car from them. The general manager says my priority is getting this lock nut off since the vehicle should not have left the lot with it on AND if the lug nuts don’t match then that is basically too bad he is just trying to get the lug nut off. I advised the sales manager I would not be happy unless the lug nuts did match. Long story short the sales manager says it will take 4 days for lug nuts to come in and I can drive the vehicle with the 4 lug nuts and not 5. My friend asked for safety reasons please put a lug nut on even if it doesn’t match till the new ones come in. What did they do????? Not only did the lug nuts not match but they went to a Chevrolet and were not tight. Thank goodness the person putting them on didn’t tighten them or I would have had even a bigger problem. This was totally unsafe and a shame what was done. When I brought it to the sales managers attention I was told well you said it didn’t matter if the lug nuts didn’t match. I left a message for the owner over 2 weeks ago to speak with him about my disappointment with no return call. There is no service after the sale and what you do get is shady and unsafe. Warn your family and loved ones. STAY AWAY FROM BIG RED SPORTS AND IMPORTS IN NORMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We found a vehicle we liked. Saturday night 8 PM: We wanted to perform alignment test and air bag check before we buy the used vehicle. We scheduled time at Monday morning to pick the vehicle and test it before we buy.
Monday morning at 9 AM the manager told us they sold the car on Saturday night.
maybe true. More plausible explanation is that they knew more about the car and did not want us to find out. They preferred to sell it to another dealer that was offering them the same amount of money (according to them) so they don’t have to deal with us. They wanted to “teach us a lesson” that we have zero leverage. They did not even bother call us and cancel the appointment. They never called us after that because they felt guilty they lied. I wouldn’t recommend buying used vehicle there. This is shady.
Pretty much the biggest scum bags in the world……. Dont go in there, and if you do, tease them, see how far they’ll go and what kind of lies they tell you in order to sell a car. When it is out of the lot, the whole company acts as if you didnt just sign away thousands of dollars to them. If you do any financing, don’t go to Matt, the guy with acne scars. He seems nice but just like his big ugly boss with glasses, lies to your face and doesnt resolve the issue people before him created, and makes you wait over 16 weeks (counted). Basicaly, this place will just take their ownselves to the grave because everybody is becoming aware of their shady faudelant bussiness. Good luck new crew, see you at the food stamp line. :devil(
Last 3 service visits at the dealership have all been pleasant. Not having to make an appointment for routine maintanence work is very convenient and I have never had to wait an unacceptable amount of time. The new waiting area is also comfortable along with the play area for the kids, which is great!
Over the weekend I had service work done on my 2007 Kia Sorento at Big Red and it went very smoothly; it seemed there had been some changes made that really helped in bettering the experience. I have a really tight schedule so not having to make an appointment was convenient and once my car was ready, the manager explained the worksheet and pulled my car up. Overall, good experience.
I contacted Big Red about a vehicle I had seen on Autotrader.com and I spoke with Brittany, an interenet manager. I told her I lived in the northern part of the state so my drive to Norman is a little over 2 hours and that was too much time to waste driving if I did not want the car, but it was for my son and the price really seemed too good to pass up. She got all my information over the phone so that she could assure that I would be approved, and then she sent very detailed pictures of the vehicle and made sure to note all of the flaws so nothing would be unknown. I really appreciated all of her honesty and her effort to provide me with the maximum amount of information was very professional. I did decide to purchase the vehicle based solely on our communication and when I arrived to pick up the car it was clean, full of gas, and ready to go. This was the easiest car buying process I have ever been through and that is enough to make me a loyal customer.
My visit to Big Red Sports/Imports service department last Thursday was by far the best one I have had yet. It had been several months since I had taken my vehicle in, so I was pleasantly suprised to see all the positive changes that had been made. I do believe there was a new manager and assistants, the area had been re-painted, and upon calling, I found out I no longer had to have an appointment to have work done (which was the best part). The new employees were very friendly and helpful with my vehicle, and I did have a few people ahead of me, but it still only took a few hours to have the work completed, which definitely beats wating a couple weeks!
 Glad you were lucky with your service experience. I can say Big Red Sports Imports Service department is unsafe and very shady. The owner of Big Red won’t even return phone calls. No service after the sale. I had my 05 Pathfinder in the shop to have a lock lug nut taken off since the dealership let me leave the lot without it. Front tire was bald on the inside and not road safe. Went to Firestone to get new tires within 1 week of purchasing vehicle. Couldn’t have tires taken off since needed the locking nut. Make this a short story, the service department put a chevrolet lug nut on my nissan pathfinder. All 4 lug nuts were loose and were not the correct lug nut. When bringing this to the sales manager’s attention his response was well you wanted a lug nut even if it didn’t match till the new ones came in. Yes I didn’t mind the lug nut not matching but I did want one that was for the correct vehicle and tight for safety. Service department says well don’t know what happened sounds like someone was trying to push this one through????? I would not recommend this Dealership to anyone especially if you love and care for the person.
To my knowledge Big Red Sports/Imports was one of the first, if not the first, Kia dealer in Oklahoma. I chose to buy my vehicle from them for this reason and I have always taken my car there to be serviced even though I live 2.5 hours away. I think it says alot about a business that has been around so long and has dealt with a certain vehicle franchise longer than anywhere else. My 2007 Kia Optima has never failed me and neither has the service department, or my serive technician, at Big Red. Thanks for doing good work.
I own a 2005 Suzuki Forenza and the last time I had it in service was December of 2009 for maintanence work. Yesterday when I brought it back in for a repair, I was greeted by all new faces in the service department at Big Red Sports/Imports and it made my day! In December I dealt with a few people that were not so friendly and did not seem to care about my time, but my visit yesterday was a whole different story. I do not remember the man and woman’s name but they were both so friendly and seemed to actually care about what I was telling them and making sure the repairs were going to be made. When I picked my Suzuki up, the service manager brought my vehicle around and went over the repairs made with me. It truly was so nice to have this kind of customer service since it is so rare these days.
I have been taking my vehicle and my wife’s vehicle to Big Red Sports/Imports for service work since 2001. We do not even own a Kia or Suzuki vehicle, but I know the technicians that are employeed there and I have been using Ray as my technician for the past 4 years. The work done has always been 100 percent and I would not take my Land Rover anywhere else and he knows that. I believe customer loyalty pays off when you want your vehicle fixed asap and to the highest standards; we all live and learn.
My husband and I bought our son for a new car as a graduation present on Saturday at Big Red in Norman. He actually found the car online on Big Red’s website and called about it. The girl working in the sales department for the internet gave him all the information needed about the vehicle and told him what to have us bring in when we came to take a test drive that evening. We went in with our things, test drove the car, negotiated a price and within a little under an hour we had bought the car and were on our way home. It was literally the easiest and fastest car buying experience I have ever had and could not be more pleased about it. I would gladly give my recommendation to this dealership going on the experience we received.
I recently came to the United States from Turkey, and I am currently a student at the University of Oklahoma. Up until this point I have been commuting around Norman by bus or my bicycle, and I decided it was time to purchase an inexpensive vehicle that would get me to and from where I needed to go. Big Red Sports/Imports was the first dealership I called to make sure they had vehicles under $5000 that were somewhat reliable and in descent condition. I went in and worked with a salesmen named Braden who should be 4 great cars in my price range and put no pressure on me to spend more, which usually happens. I ended up purchasing a used 2006 Kia Spectra that I really do like! And even thought I wasnt purchasing a new expensive car, Braden and another manager I worked with still treated me as if I was. I greatly appreciate all of your help and kindness.
I recently bought a 2009 Kia Optima from Big Red Sports/Imports in Norman. I had called in to inquire some information about the vehicle and I was actually able to speak with the owner firsthand about it. I have never in my life been to a dealership where I got to work with the owner when purchasing a vehicle and this actually made my decision to buy from there. It was so nice to have reassurance about the information I was given and be able to negotiate price. I most certainly would recommend this dealership when purchasing a Kia, or any other vehicle for that matter.
Never had any repairs made that were less than satisfactory and have never had to wait longer than I was told. That is all that I care about and so I can make no negative comments.
I have been going to Big Red for service work on my Kia since 2007 and I have rarely ever had any problems. The current service manager was really polite and made sure that at the time I checked out my car was presentable and everything was satisfactory. Also, the fact that you do not have to make a service appointment can be really convenient.
My vehicle is still under the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty and the few times I have had to take my car in it has all been covered by my Kia warranty without any questions or problems. The repairs have been done accurately and were completed within the time frame I was given. No problems so far so cannot complain!
Big Red has a new service manager! In the past I have had some issues with my taking my car in to be serviced but when I went in last time to have maintainence work done I was introduced to a new service manager named Mark and it was the best news I had heard in a long time! He was very knowledgeable and promised everything would be taken care of and my car would be ready by the end of the day. Everything went so smooth and the work done was great; this is wonderful for Big Red and it’s service customers, thanks.
This is the first car I have ever bought and did not feel like I was being forced into making an immediate decision to buy. I really like the Kia Forte that I test drove and I told my salesmen, Bobby, that I was pretty sure it was the car I wanted but I need to go home and run it by my husband that I had found the car I was ready to purchase. He was confident in selling me the car and trusted that I would be back like I said I would. I was almost caught off guard because I was preparing myself for him to start throwing “what if’s” at me and he didnt! I really respected that and my husband and I did go back the night and buy my car, and I am so happy with the car and the pleasant experience.
No one likes taking there vehicle in to have it repaired, including myself, and I was a bit frustrated when I called to make an appointment to bring it in. Fortunately the lady in service at Big Red was very friendly and assured me that they would fix my problem and she managed to work me in to the schedule that day. The service manager I picked my vehicle up from that afternoon was also very nice and patient and explained the work that had been done very thoroughly, considering that I knew nothing about mechanics. I really do appreciate their help and my car was fixed perfectly.
I have had all my maintainence work on my Kia done at Big Red and have never had any problems. I can usually get in for an appt in a timely manner and have always gotten my vehicle back the same day.
I must admit I have not been to Big Red Sports/Imports in Norman to look at vehicles since the whole Bomar mess, but I did come across a car I really liked and it happened to be there. When I first called about the car to get some information I made a comment to the lady I spoke to about how I had not been in or even considered Big Red for car buying in several years. With that said, she actually let me speak to the current owner! Mr. Mayes was such a nice gentlemen and he was willing to beat any competitors price on the vehicle I wanted just to earn my business; he really seemed to care about the dealership and rebuilding their reputation with customers! I was very pleased to see this, thank you!
After searching around over the past 2 months I finally found what I was looking for at Big Red Sports/Imports in Norman; I purchased a 2010 Kia Forte. I had never heard of this vehicle so of course I had zero knowledge about it, and I was pretty set on buying something I had done some research on. However, I was fortunate to get a well educated salesmen who went over every gidget and gadget and pretty much told me all there is to know about the Forte (which was greatly appreciated I must say). Still I did go home and look around at other dealers prices on the same vehicle, and no one could even come close to Big Red. I went back that night and made the deal final and could not be happier with my decision! 😀

Dear keith_hot101:
I cant describe the how relieved and every single good feeling put together I became once I read the first line of this review. I have been trying to get the new “Finance” Department at Big Red Sports and Imports, “Matt”, to take bogus add on insurance off my loan, which my APR is 15%, it was originaly 11% something but they called me back and told me whole spill that bank changed my payment amount (BY A LOT) and resigned papers. Well, good thing I kept both sets. They have different dates and even wrong GAP date they never updated that one, I also have the “Cancelation” paper that MATT filled out and was supposed to take 9-12 weeks discounted off my loan (which by the way all the other chages add top $4,200!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I lost my job a year ago and had trouble making my outrageous $335/month payment for an 2003 tracker, and fell back on my payments with GMAC, I decided to pull out all this paperwork and realized how screwed I got and how I didnt realize any of this…. i went in to LOOK at what they had with my boyfriend, this was in 2007 when I was 19. Ever since then Ive been paying that much every month for this car!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They took advantage that I didnt know better, was young and stupid, went there by myself and now when I went to try and resolve this the NEW SALES MANAGER EVEN LIED ABOUT ANYBODY BEING THERE THAT COULD HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will get this resolved, I can not express enough how much help those numbers have been. wow. And I have hope since I know that Im not the only one out there with this issue… I am supposed to still make these payments for another yr and a half!!! Ive definately already paid my car off!! its worth aroundf 7 grand and ive paiod OVER 11 THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you,
You made my day, week, month and year:)
Complaint:
Plain & Simple. This dealership performed routine maintenance on my vehicle and caused damage in the process by not following simple written procedures set by the KIA Motors. They made damaging mistakes to my vehicle causing extensive damage vehicle disablement. When I politely pointed this out to them, they got upset with me and placed all the blame for their mistakes on me, the CUSTOMER. They talked to me in a rude tone. They did not even take 1% of the blame. They said it was my fault at 100% because of the mileage I have on my car. I take good care of my vehicle and have kept all of my receipts to prove it. I do all rountine maintenance and repair on my vehicle when needed. I just do sit and drive my car, I take full care of it. Robert was very rude to me and hung up the phone when I initially tried to talk with him about this problem. He was very difficult to deal with. They should have stopped trying to get me to TRADE in my car with every repair/maintenance visit because I won’t be pressured into trading in my car that I still had to pay on. Besides, this economy is still bad to be repeated requests to get a new car and trade mine in, I started experiencing car repair problems.
If only they had repaired my car right, followed written procedures and guidelines, I would not be on this site complaining. My car has never been the same since. It has incurred extensive damage because of their repair neglience. If any one has this problem, please complain to the BBB, OK Attorney General for fraud, Oklahoma Motor Vehicle, Oklahoma Used Motor Vehicle and Parts Commission for bad sales practices, and the Oklahoma Insurance Department for their failure to honor extended warranties. I hope this is helpful to everyone and I don’t want what happened to me to happen to anyone else. This is horrible for me. I paid them thousands of dollars for repairs and instead they damaged my car. I could have kept my money and put it in the bank as savings, and my car would have still been in better shape without their damaging repair. Thanks for your time.

I have gone to this dealership for the past 4 years. When Mike Trevino was the Service Advisor & Sean, the Service Manager, the business operated with courtesy, efficiency and had excellent communications with customers. Some point in time, I began to see unpleasant changes. They started doing faulty repair work, taking too long to finish repairs, not providing for loaner cars when necessary. They seem to get a little bit rude and argumentative with customers, using a harsh tone of voice. Needless to say, I still went to them, even after the OU Brett/Football scandal of 2006, when they had paid him an/or another football athlete monetary wages when he actually did not perform any physical labor or work. However, this incident, is another story altoghether. My repair complaint is plain and simple: BIG RED failed to adequately replace & torgue my CRANKSHAFT bolt, against company written repair procedures set by KIA Motors of America, that states anytime the BOLT is romoved ” It is never to be reused. Doint so will cause damage to vehicles”. It also states, ” When the Crankshaft bolt is replaced, it is to be properly torqued at certain specifications, which they also failed to follow. Surprisingly, after pointing this written information out to their repair technicians, namely the older guy with a little gray hair, who claimed he had worked for Big Red over 15 years, THEY BECAME DEFENSIVE. They denied wrongdoing–but later verbally admitted that they did not know about the repair procedures, and decribed them as being “new”. This shows a lack of communciation between Big Red Managment, Kia Service Manager, and their repair technicians. As long as I live, I will never allow them to do further damage on my vehicle. My car stopped on me twice (on different occasions) because my CRANKSHAFT BOLT came loose because of their (Bid Red’s) failure to properly replace and torgque this bolt after it was removed because of repair or routine maintenance. I hope that this information is a WARNING to make sure if you trust them to work on your car, that they do what is required from the repair manual. Thanks for your time.

😡 Big Red Sports Imports service is unsafe and shady. I would never I mean never have my car serviced or worked on there again.
I am currently looking to buy a car and I have spoken to a view dealers but I thought I would look at some dealer reviews online before doing actually doing so just to see what others have experienced. After reading several reviews, it sounds to me like too many people go in to buy a vehicle with the wrong attitude right off the bat! Everyone looks at it as a negative experience before they even step into the dealership; they go in ready to put their foot down and make demands..chill out! I used to work in sales so I understand what its like and yes, they are there to make sales so of course there is going to be pressure to some degree! Big Red Sports/Imports is one of the dealerships I have spoken with about some vehicles and so far my experience with them has been positive and when I get ready to buy, they are likely to be the dealership I will buy from. Just a thought, your experience is only going to be as good as you make it.
I don’t agree with you at all. I bought a new/used vehicle from Bob Howard Toyota in Edmond and was totally impressed with the sales and service from start to finish. No pressure and you didn’t hear you bought it as is. Big Red wants the sale but does not want to give you safe and efficient service. Don’t take my word for it. Talk to the guys at Firestone on 119th/Western and ask about the lady who brought a Pathfinder in for new tires. I had left Big Red where I was to get a 5th lug nut put on my vehicle till the new one came in. Well they put one on all right. The lug nut did not fit (went to a chevy) and was loose. When I went back to the service department to bring it to there attention they sure wanted all 4 of the lug nuts back, but I only gave them one. Still deciding what to do at this point. Maybe channel 4 or Youtube??? Totally unsafe dealership. Also left message to speak with owner, 2 weeks later and still no return call. Go figure.
This past weekend I purchased a brand new Kia Sorento from Big Red Sports/ Imports in Norman, and I absolutely love it! I test drove several SUVs at a couple different dealerships before making my final decision, and this vehicle was by far the best. Not to mention, the price was significantly lower than that of any other dealer. Lastly, I just want to say that my salesmen was very kind and very knowledgable about this vehicle which was very reassuring. Everyone has good and bad experiences buying cars, but this was definitely one of the best I have had yet! I would refer anyone I know to them.
BIG RED SPORTS AND IMPORTS SOLD ME A CAR THAT THEY TOLD ME WAS A TURBO, AND I EVEN ASKED, TWICE, IF THEY WERE SURE IT WAS A TURBO, AS IT DID NOT SEEM LIKE IT WAS DRIVING LIKE IT SHOULD, IF IT WAS INDEED A TURBO…AFTER PURCHASING THIS AUTOMOBILE AND GETTING HOME AND LOOKING THROUGH THE MANUAL, I DISCOVERED THAT IT WAS NOT A TURBO AT ALL, BUT JUST A BASIC CAR. I HAD TO PURCHASE THIS CAR SORT OF ON THE RUN, BECAUSE I AM A STAY AT HOME DAD, FOR MY HANDICAPPED SON. I AM WITH HIM 24/7. ANYWAY, I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THEM TO REPORT THE PROBLEM, YOU GUESSED IT!! THEY SAID TOUGH SHIT..THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM, ONCE YOU DRIVE IT OFF OUR LOT…SUCKER….I PAID A LOT MORE FOR THIS CAR, THINKING I WAS GETTING A TURBO..I AM NOW LOOKING FOR A GOOD LAWYER….THEY HAVE LOST THEIR RATING WITH THE BBB, SO PLEASE CHECK THEIR STATUS WITH THEM, BEFORE BUYING…ANY ADVICE, PLEASE POST IT…THANKS….
Hello Sir,
I have read your review and realize that you have two options. One is to file with the Oklahoma Motor Vehicle Commission (OMVC) which handles illicit new car sales practices, and the Oklahoma Used Motor Vehicle Parts Commission (OUMVC), which handles illicit used car sales practices. Here are the links:
OMVC

Thanks for your complaint. Please let me know the status after you file.

I made a purchase with Big Red Sports and Imports of Norman. In the beginning I was generally pleased with my purchase minus the haggle, pressure and old school tactics they used to get the sale. Being up front and honest would have made things easier. The 06 Grand Vitara seemed like a good choice. I was happy with the warranty 7 year 100k power train warranty, making me feel better about the purchase. I also purchased an extended warranty, which I felt pressured into. The vehicle ran well without much issue. We serviced the vehicle on a regular basis. More frequently than what was suggested by Suzuki. The car broke down on a business trip this December in 2009. I took the car to the dealer where I made my purchase in hopes I would be treated fairly. I was informed that my factory warranty will not cover the damages to the vehicle due to the oil break down in the engine. I gave them my service records for the vehicle. I was informed that this meant nothing and the factory warranty as well as my extended warranty will not cover any repairs. My first question was do I sue the Oil company for making faulty oil or does the oil companies not make oil up to Suzuki standards. I would like to get an opinion from a Castrol Representaive. My second concern would be why the factory suggests oil changes every 7,500 miles (which seems very out of the ordinary.) Unless they are trying to give themselves excuses for not covering warranty due to oil build up in the engine. It also seems rather odd, that I have not got a written statement from the dealership why they are throwing my factory warranty and extended warranty out of the window. My certified Mechanic stated if the oil pump is not working properly or failed which is part of the powertrain, it would build sludge. Instead of them investigating this, the burden is on me to prove it. If you have had similar issues I would love to hear about it. Feel free to contact me or leave comment on this page.

I hate car shopping. Detest it, and detest haggling, negotiating, and the back and forth. So, I try to make things as simple and fair as possible to not waste my time or anyone else’s.
I live in Tulsa, but found that Big Red (a 2 hour drive) had the new car I wanted in stock. I could have chosen to deal with the big dealers in OKC, but I figured as long as I was going to deal with someone out of town, I might as well give the little guy a shot.
I submitted an offer for the car on the website, with my trade info (including VIN, mileage, history, current condition, and payoff) and my absolute best and final price for the trade and new car purchase.
The next morning, I received three calls within 10 minutes from three different employees of the dealership. Then came the text message and email. Wow, I thought, this dealership must really want to make a sale if they’re hitting me so hard. I mean, why else would they pursue me given the information I gave them?
I spoke with Brittany, the “Internet Sales Manager” regarding what I expected. I was very clear that I don’t want to haggle or negotiate, that I was making an offer that was firm, including my trade-in payoff amount. Since I live in Tulsa, this would be a two hour drive for me and I wasn’t coming unless they could give me my price.
After nine (9!) calls between me and Brittany, she told me she had spoken with the owner (who was “out of town” in Dallas) and my trade sounded good, but they’d need to look at it to confirm. She also told me that she passed my offer on the car on (with information on invoice vs. msrp and my justification for making the offer) and that she didn’t see a reason for them to not accept it, ESPECIALLY SINCE I WAS COMING IN FROM OUT OF TOWN. I asked for written guarantee, but she said she could not provide it, but asked that if she got green lights from everyone if I would trust her and go ahead and come down.
This is where I should have realized that I should have walked away.
I told Brittany that I would indeed trust her if she gave me her word that everything looked good on the trade and on my offer on the car. Kia has a special 0% finance deal going on, so I asked to get pre-approved for that so I could take advantage. NO PROBLEM, she said, I’ve already looked and you’re good.
She called and asked if I could come down that night (a weeknight). It’s a 4-hour round trip after work, but I thought that if they were going to ask me to make that trip, knowing how far it was, that they must be willing to make the deal. She also said everything looked good on my offer and trade and she saw no issues.
You know where this is going, right?
So, 20 minutes from the dealership (1 hour, 40 minutes from home), Brittany calls. She tells me that she has to leave, but JT will take care of me, and she’s “filled him in on all the details.” Uh oh. 5 minutes later, she calls back. Now JT’s leaving and Les is going to take care of me. This is when I realize that I’m screwed.
I get to the dealership, and Les is waiting for me. He’s as nice as he can be, and a great car salesman. I really enjoyed dealing with him and highly recommend him as anyone’s advocate if you’re going to deal with this mess of a company.
We go on a test drive, he looks at my car, he starts asking me the haggle/negotiation questions. That’s when I explain to him my all day back and forth with Brittany, why I came, and told him I wasn’t here to negotiate, I was here to sign the deal.
That’s when it hit the fan. The sales manager came over. They can’t make the deal for that price, they can’t take my trade in for what I want. I guess in reality the “internet sales manager” is really a scheduler, and she doesn’t have the authority to make this deal. After almost an hour of negotiation & haggling (exactly what I wanted to avoid) I get up and walk out with no new car.
Moral of the story: Don’t trust what the dealer says on the phone. Don’t travel more than 20 minutes if you don’t have written guarantees. And always, ALWAYS, speak to the Sales Manager or GM if you’re going to try to do these types of deals.
Also, don’t deal with Big Red Sports. If this is the type of employee they hire, and how they treat their potential customers, just imagine what they’ll do after you pay them.
Update 12/13:
I was contacted by Chris Mayes, operating partner of Big Red Sports to discuss my experience with his dealership. Chris informed me that the dealership feels that they did not receive needed information regarding the history of my trade and thus could not accept the offer I made for purchase of the new vehicle. Specifically, my vehicle was involved in a serious accident 3 years ago and they feel I did not adequately disclose the extent of damage that was repaired. I accept this as a reasonable explanation of the reason they did not accept my offer and acknowledge the it is my responsibility to provide this information to the dealership and to verify that they acknowledge and understand it.
I also want to reiterate that anyone making a long-distance offer like this with ANY dealership should also discuss it with the GM or Sales Manager before investing the time and energy in traveling so far to complete a deal. This allows both sides to verify their assumptions and validate the information. Had I done this, my experience would have likely been very different.
Please note, cardealercheck.com does not allow you to edit or delete the original review, only post updates. This information is an update to my original review.
You can file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commision, OK Attorney Generals office, the Oklahoma Motor Vehicle, and the BBB…This should help..
Big Red Sports and Imports promised me free tires for life if i did all of my scheduled maintenance with their service department. I have held up my end of the bargain, even though it costs more to have things done there. I even had their “special” 30,000 mile service done there. I asked them to split it in half, since i couldn’t afford the whole thing at once, and they said yes. But then when it came time to pay for the second portion, they tried to charge me much more than the total cost was. After i complained, the service manager added the services offered on the brochure and said that the brochure was incorrect. They did alter my amount so that i was given the advertised price, but i wonder how many people paid too much? In any case, now it is time for me to get new tires, and they refuse, stating it was the old owners who made that promise, and that this isn’t their problem. They were worse than rude. I am still going to contact the BBB and hopefully they will realize that the other person on this site was telling the truth! This place is terrible, and everyone there is rude, and people don’t return your phone calls, and when you finally do talk to some sort of manager, they are not helpful and very rude and combative.
DO NOT EVER GO HERE!!!!
the customer service at big red’s was outstanding!!! all i knew about the car was that it had 4 wheels and it went down the road after talking to Les i have a peace of mind that i made a good desicion to purchase a kia. And as i was waiting for finance the sales manager and three other salesman said hello to me!!! I will be buying my vehicles from big red’s from now on. they have made a customer for life.
Big Red service used to be very professional and they used to have some very good people working the counters. It’s gotten much, much worse now with the bad economy and the reduction in Big Red inventory. It looks like they laid off many of the workers and you have to wait for days before they even get around to looking at the car. Everyone is extremely rude. I just took it in for what I think is a problem related to a repair they did a month ago. Today is Monday, and they said they wont get to even diagnose the problem until Friday. They don’t do loaner cars anymore. And when I brought it in a month ago, I kept calling several times a day for three days before they finally got around to looking at it. They never answer the phone or they put you on hold for a long time and then simply disconnect you. And if you show up in person, they tell you you’ll have to wait a week because you don’t have an appointment. I feel bad for them because they’re obviously suffering from the bad economy and the scandal last year, but the unprofessionalism and general sleaziness of everyone there is a good reason to stay away from Big Red. And I would highly recommend you find an independent mechanic in Norman if you’re car is out of warranty. Big Red service used to be very good and professional, now they are about the worst I have ever dealt with.
The original owners were great when we bought the van but ever since the current owners have been running it, it has gone down hill fast. The wait time for any kind of service is extremely long. The techs are very unprofessional, the counter people are rude and the owners and managers are nowhere to be found. They don’t return phone calls and they hide in the offices when you try to talk in person. They have left lug nuts off of my wheels and even lost my wheel lock key. At the big 30,000 mile service they gave my vehicle back covered in grease and they were put out when I asked them to clean it. They gave me a hassle when I needed a couple of interior parts replaced under warranty. The people in charge again were nowhere to be found. They refuse to honor my tires for life contract so I filed a complaint with the BBB and they actually lied to them stating that they replaced my tires 4 months earlier. I wouldn’t have filed if this was true. This dealer is dishonesty at is worst. Cris Mayes and Richard Roby were very unprofessional and rude.
The same thing has happened to me, they said they don’t have to honor my contract for free tires for life because they are under new ownership. And they were VERY rude about it too.
