I purchased 2 vehicles from Gary Rome. I wish I knew then what I kow now, such as knowing there is no such state fee called “environmental fee” on all automobiles, and requiring me to get the extended warranty in order for the 10 yr 100,000 mile warranty to be guaranteed. These people are snake oil salespeople
I recently have lost all faith in the service department at Gary Rome Hyundai. After 6 years of being a loyal customer (not to mention the fact that my husband and I also bought a second Hyundai from them), I have decided that I will no longer service my vehicle at this location anymore.
On three separate occasions I brought my car in because of an inconsistent start. Sometimes my car would start, others it would take several tries and turns of the key to turn the engine over. All the lights in the car would turn on, as well as the radio. The first two times that I brought my car into Gary Rome for this problem I was informed that because the car started at the dealership, they could not find a problem. I was then asked to bring my car in a third time and leave it overnight so that they could attempt to start it in the morning. Later that day I received a phone call telling me that my starter had failed and it would cost $380 to replace it. I called back to remind them that I had purchased the extended warranty and that it seemed to me that a starter should be covered under that plan (frustrated at this point, I wouldn’t have brought my car to any place three times that could not figure out what the problem was unless I thought that it was going to be free). I was then informed that they did not have my warranty information on file and that though they could check, it would take a few days and that I would have to pay upfront in order to have my starter replaced. Eager to have my car finally fixed and starting (so that I could arrive to work on time), I agreed only to find out a few days later that my warranty had been mysteriously cancelled over the phone.
In all, I am disgusted with what I consider to be dishonest business practices and incompentent service technicians. I will not be bringing my business to Gary Rome Hyundai again.
After My family has bought three Hyundia’s thru this dealership it became apparent a familiar pattern was forming when the cars were brought in for any warranty repair. Each time a problem was found that required replacement of a part the same explanation was given” That’s not covered because it’s possible this issue could be caused by other than a manufacturing defect” First my wifes elantra had the door seals deteriorate which is concidered ” normal wear and tear” then my drivers mirror on my Sonata loosened and rattles after a year, when I brought it in to be fixed I was told this isn’t covered because ” The side mirrors are delicate and if they’re hit in some way they could be damaged” While I showed the technician there is not even a scratch on the mirror housing how could they make this determination without dis-assembly???” Never got an reply just a quote for 243.00 for a car only a year old. Now the lower molding is pulling away but I won’t even bother bringing it in. Emailing the service manager and owner got no response. As far as I’m concerned the 10 year warranty is a scam and I’ll never buy frmm this dealer again. Your mileage may vary.
