Brock did a great job. He was knowledgable and straightforward and made the process comfortable for us. Normally the negotiating is awkward and unpleasant but Brock handled it very professionally and helped us feel comfortable and valued. Overall experience was very good. We would have wanted to pay for the whole thing with a credit card and they would only allow 5000 max. That was the only negative.

I am just writing to notify other customers of how this dealership works. I had bought a 2008 Jeep Patriot Limited back in February of 2008 and went in with the understanding Van Horn had a good reputation for themselves. Everything seemed ok when I went in their and I had picked out the vehicle I wanted and when it was time to sign the papers I was presented with a buy-back form to sign. After reading the form it just stated that the moon roof was reported leaking 3 times and it had to be classified that way. So I thought no big deal and ever since I have not had a problem with the moon roof, however, I went to Holiday in Fond du Lac today to get it appraised just to find out that it had been in a front end collision and had frame damage which I was unaware of. I did ask for a car fax from Matt and it never stated accident. Also it scored at least an 80 when I purchased and a 67 today so I am really curious to what I was really shown and informed about. Needless to say I was really informed from Holiday on how Van Horn does business and their true reputation. BE AWARE OF BODY DAMAGE AND BUY BACKS. Van Horn does not realize the financial situations they put their customers in. It is really ironic to go under reviews and see so many poor ones relating to the same topic.

Van Horn Buyers Beware!!!!!!!!! Most Deals are Manufacturer Buyback!!!!!!
As with many of the former customer of Van Horn I also bought a “manufacturer buyback” from them without knowing the full ramifications. Pricing was poor in retrospect, but it makes sense why they wanted to rush me out the door. I LAUGH when I see them now as Lemon FREE certified. Because they still sell Manufacturer Buybacks. Be prepared to have a worthless car if it is branded Manufacturer Buyback. They are in the same section on the Wisconsin DOT website as Salvaged. Trade in anywhere else isn’t even poor on the chart regardless of condition, as poor has a clean title. If you do buy from them, make sure to DEMAND a CARFAX and Auto Report just to double check. I will Never return and have told countless others about Van Horns tactics, in hope that they will not make the same mistake as I and many others have buy shopping @ Van Horn.

me and my wife had a 2007 dodge grand caravan that was giving us fits. we found van horn online and with the credit situation we where in they got us approved for the 2008 town and country , loaded to the nines, but that where it all goes down hill. had the van home a few days and called another dealer to check it out and found out it had not one, not two, but four open recalls on the van, which in the state of wisconsin is ilegal. called to them back to say why is this happing and of course the first words out of there mouth is it must have been missed. then we started to have problems with the entertainment system blacking out and coming on and blacking out, called and said what was happing and gave them a peace of my mind because having to drive back and forth from green bay to plymouth isnt fun .the tech taking care of this was such a joy to deal with to, the way he made u feel is like go some where else he coudnt be bothered. now the next issue that has come up is the key wont turn unless we get a new win module, we are already paying 570 dollars a month, are on a tight budget as is and they expect us to come up with another 300 bucks or more for this, we have two autistic kids and our van is our lifeline for them and we both this van thinking we where getting a safer one and all we both was a 21000 dollar peace of crap. to go back to the ignitaion, they said they where going to take care of us, it tok them four hours to figure out what i had already told them, and the loaner they gave me which they where asking almost 14 grand for is a peace of crap as well.then van was in an accedent but yet doesnt show it on the report. the van has issues with the reporting of millage on it so its worth alot less then what we paid for it, thanks alot van horn for screwing us. u will never get another sale of us and i to will be calling who ever i can to make sure more people know how u operate. one more thing,ran into a couple at another dealer while i was out and about and they had a 2008 grand caravan , which was also bought from van horn, they found out the hard way it was a buy back aka a lemon just thought i would throw that in there.

My husband and I were comparison shopping for a Chrysler Pacifica. After walking around the lot (which was WAY too crowded)for about 45min a salesman came out to us. He was friendly to us, but he said that he didn’t know if they had any Pacificas and would have to look on the computer. Turns out they had one that had just come in on trade and he ran accross the street to pull it up for us. It was a 2007 with 52k on it. It was a beautiful car with lots of bells and whistles. Knowing how important leather seats were to us (we have kids that puke in the car…sorry) he offered to throw that in for free. He also said that having a remote start installed was negotiable. We ran our credit and they approved us for the car and said that they could get it for us for the monthly payment we were aiming for! we were pretty excited! we drove the car and noticed some mechanical issues that would need to be addressed before purchasing. We mentioned this to the salesman (can’t remember his name) and he said that it hadn’t been fully inspected yet. So in the mean time we decided to go back to the Chrysler dealer in Sheboygan where we were the previous day to drive the Pacifica we found there. The salesman was VERY suspicious of the fact that Van Horn was offering to throw in free leather upgrade and remote start and said that probably 80% of their inventory was lemons. He ran Autocheck on the car and sure enough, it was deemed a LEMON. It is no surprise that they were offering to throw in a bunch of freebies! We are very grateful for the Chrysler dealership in Sheboygan looking into the situation for us. We (naively) didn’t think to do it ourselves. We will NOT be shopping at Van Horn ever again. We ended up purchasing a very decently priced vehicle at the Sheboygan Chrysler dealership.

The salesman made the multiple trips to make decisions. I expected that. They promised my son something and couldn’t deliver. They ran credit reports at least 12 times which is now affecting my credit. I was going to cosign on a car loan. The terms were ridiculous. They tried really hard to get us to take the ridculous deal. I found the vehicle at Palmen Motors in Kenosha. They were much, much better.

I am writing this review on VAN HORNE CHRYSYLER DODGE JEEP, PLYMOUTH WISCONSIN for several reasons. First, I would like to help educate future car buyers to help you avoid some of the mistakes I made buying a vehicle and also bring your attention to what I consider a dealer, VAN HORNE CHRYSYLER DODGE JEEP, PLYMOUTH WISCONSIN, deceptive and dishonest with a pure lack of customer satisfaction.
I recently purchased a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland from this dealer and now wish I hadn’t. I was looking for one of these vehicles with low mileage and after finding one on cars.com at VAN HORNE CHRYSYLER DODGE JEEP, PLYMOUTH WISCONSIN I made an offer and drove 2 hours to pick up the vehicle. Prior to committing to driving up I had asked about the vehicle history and asked for a copy of the CarFax. I was provided an AutoCheck over e-mail and no negative information about the history was disclosed. At the time, I didn’t know there was a difference between an Autocheck and a Carfax. I thought it was the same thing. The Autocheck showed a clean history so I didn’t see any cause for concern. While closing on the vehicle it was disclosed to me that this vehicle was a manufacturer buy back, which I now know is a much nicer way of saying LEMON. I was presented a form to sign that I understood this vehicle was a buy back and two minor problems were listed as the reasons why the customer complained and what the specific remedies were to fix them before returning it for sale. I have a mechanical background and found the reasons to be very correctable and no big deal. In short a computer glitch here and there with no major part replacements. The manufacturer warranty was still in place so that gave me some piece of mind. The following day after purchasing the vehicle I had found a pool of oil on my garage floor. I crawled underneath to find the entire bottom of the engine and transmission coated with engine oil. Being 2 hours away from VAN HORNE CHRYSYLER DODGE JEEP, I took it to the local Jeep dealer to look at it. They had found a seal around the dipstick missing or something to that effect and told me they would need the vehicle for a couple of days to make sure the engine was not damaged by the loss of oil, and basically told me I might need a new engine. They also informed me that the engine had already been replaced once on this 10k mile vehicle which I was shocked to hear. I signed up on Jeep online with my VIN number to find this vehicle has been in service 16x before I got it with all kind of complains, which was way more than what was disclosed to me. At this point I did more research on Carfax and found my vehicle was indeed flagged as a lemon. I immediately contacted my salesman (Roy) about the situation and told him I felt the vehicle was misrepresented during the sale. An engine change is lot bigger remedy that a computer glitch and obvious their service department did a crappy job of inspecting the vehicle before selling it. Roy appeared and sounded empathetic and said don’t worry, we will make this right. He took down the number of my local Jeep dealer so the two dealers could collaborate on the situation. After picking up my vehicle from service and incurring 2 days of rental car charges I had learned VAN HORNE CHRYSYLER DODGE JEEP, PLYMOUTH WISCONSIN never followed up on the situation. I sent an e-mail to Roy expressing my dissatisfaction and again telling him I felt the vehicle was misrepresented and wanted to know my options. I would have made different purchasing decisions knowing the history of this vehicle. Roy did call me back and claimed he did escalated the issue to his management but obviously they didn’t care enough even to give me a call back. He said he was going to talk to the boss again. There has been no contact from VAN HORNE CHRUSYLER DODGE JEEP. Fast forward a few days later and I took the vehicle into the city of Chicago where there is a lot of stop and go traffic on the expressway. I noticed a hard downshift from 2nd to 1st and again had to take it into service. This time they found a loose transmission cable. This vehicle has been in service now 18x on record with 11k miles. This is one big LEMON if I ever have seen one.
This is a long story with a lot of detail and just the facts without emotion. VAN HORNE DODGE is misleading and makes no effort to ensure customer satisfaction. I was thrown out as a customer with no attempt to offer me any options for my troubles. I will file formal complaints with Chrysler the BBB and will write continue to write reviews on this dealer to hep protect consumers since you can’t rely on dealerships or Chrysler. I did contact a lawyer in the state of Wisconsin who specialized in Lemon Laws. As soon as I told him the name VAN HORNE DOGE he said they are the lowest of the low. This is my story and I hope it may help you have a better car buying experience. If you have any questions about this review please e-mail me at [email protected] . Quick legal options are limited me since that paper I signed was an agreement to go into arbitration should I have any future beefs with the vehicle. I will pursue that as well no matter how long this takes.

My husband and I found Van Horn online after doing days of research on a Jeep Liberty Sport. We saw that Van Horn actually had quite a selection of 2008 with low milage something that we are looking for and having so many thought it would be great to go check a few out. We jumped in the car and made the 2 hour drive up to Plymouth. We were sure to be driving one of them home.
We arrived and were greeted by a young man who kept disappearing on us guess we were not important enough for his attention, something that is a real turn off when you have questions and no one there to answer them. We went through several (at least 12) Jeeps all having 30,000 miles or less but in the worst condition. The interiors were filthy and we were actually told oh no our vehilcles are cleanly detailed right when we get them..yeah right one looked like someone had a soda fight on the white interior it was everywhere and this sales rep said no no those are not stains that is someones attempt to clean stains so what you see is the “cleaning” product. I mean really do we look stupid. Others had deep piling in seats, actual liquids still spilled and sticky in cup holders ect. That is just the interior. Exteriors on most had scrathes, knicks, one had flat tire, another had a Dodge Ram literally backed right up against it’s bumper. We took first one for test drive and upon rep pulling up I heard a noise coming from back rear. My husband got under and noticed the muffler bracket broken and a liquid leaking from under the Jeep. Our rep acted like it was a shocking surprise something was wrong. We said okay will take on road and check out. The road test turned out to bring about other noises and just not a good solid vehicle. So we went back explained to rep and again got that deer in headlights shocked look. We went back through so many more and found another we thought okay maybe this one will be the one, again our rep disappeared so we had to go inside to find him, Waited about 10 mins then we took another for a spin. This one was clean on the inside but again not a good ride. When my husband did the “reverse” drive down a road we heard something that sounded like it was dragging underneath. I actually said OMG did the muffler fall off and husband got out to check, found nothing dragging but noise still persisted. We drove back and again expalined the problems and again we told these vehicles go through the safety inspection before being invoiced. This is a complete and utter falicy because each vehicle had problems and soemthing that should have been caught at any inpsection and remedied prior to sale. One we did not even test drive becasue it stated on invoice “needs front breaks” which is something ANY Dealer HAS TO fix prior to putting on sale as breaks are a safety issue and MUST be fixed not noted and passed on to a potention buyer with bad breaks. On one of the Jeeps we test drove as well the foam insulation under the wheel well was actually hanging out and dragging on the ground, simply rediculous. With every serious inquiry and question regarding safety, inspection, service and care we got oh we do all of that before putting on lot and with our own eyes one can clearly see, feel and drive and KNOW all of those statements by Rep are untrue. We do not recommend this dealership to anyone who is searching for a sound, safe, clean vehicle. There was also something very odd to us about these vehicles…each 2008 Jeep Liberty we looked at for having such low milage all were in such poor condition with “extreme rust” underneath making us wonder what happened to these Jeeps prior. I mean I drive a 2001 Sebring and my husbands prior was 2001 Jeep and our underbodies are no where near the poor condition everyone of those Jeeps was in. ONE more important thing to be said…directly from our REP was each Rep “HAS TO SELL” at min 20 or more vehiles per month or they get fired, not a good sign added to the parking lot filled with Junk vehicles. Sad we wasted 1/2 a day for that complete crap, but in the end it was a nice country drive on a beautiful day with my husband.

roy the salesmen was great, deal went real slow we were there over three hrs. roy said he had are payments where we needed them and we said we would take the vehicle and we wnt in to the financing and they gave us a monthly payment thirty five bucks higher than we discussed. the we realized we fogot something in the vehicle we traded and called right away and never heard back and called the next two day and mysteriously our sunglasses were gone and adam the joke said his guys wouldnt steal. i went back and forth with him and finally called the police to report theft, adam said maybe we missplaced them and didnt care what i was saying, dint care what his customer thought after spending twenty thousand there, all the sudden they mysteriously appeared and the joke adam isnt even man enough to call and apologize. i would not go there again, unless roy moved dealer adam sucks.

Mark was truely interested in getting me the correct vehicle. After I realized exactly what I wanted he tiressly worked to find it as the dealership didn’t have a new one only a used model in the wrong color. He made sure I did not have to “settle for” a lesser truck. Very happy with my 2010 Dakota and the buying experience.

Below email from Van Horn Dodge says it all. It was an internet purchase for a car to be shipped “sight unseen” to Colorado. We had agreed to terms, they were to call back with bank routing details, then they never called. Instead it appears to me that they used my deal to lever someone with more convenient terms.
I do not recommend doing business with this firm.

My initial call to Van Horn was to inquire about a truck I was interested in. The call was fielded by Mark, who must have had other pressing items, as he could not answer any questions on the truck and went directly to pricing to inform me the price is what it is and there was no latitude. That ended the conversation and left me somewhat surprised…these guys must be selling trucks quicker than anyone else if they can’t be more professional. I waited a few days and called back since the truck looked to be still available. This time Rodney took the call and answered many questions as I was very serious about pursuing a purchase. We struck a deal and it was time to esure that I was purchasing a solid vehicle. (Carfax)
A “Certified Lemon” was noted on the report. It also listed the repair facility as it was a manufacturer buy-back. I called the mechanic that did the repairs to inquire as to exactly what the problems were, which were many that culminated in “Catostrophic Engine Failure”. The list to repair this failure was significant, and the vehicle remained noted as a “Lemon”. I called Rodney to inform him of my findings and by law, he was obligated to inform me. “I was going to tell you when you came to pick up the vehicle” was his response. As if I would still continue with the deal…he was going to let me make a 2-hour drive, then tell me this. Not being very up front were many comments I made, but his response totally threw me back..”We sell a lot of Lemons here” he conveyed to me. And maybe this is true, but if they typically let a potential customer travel significant distances before informing them that their significant investment was a lemon, that’s a business I can do without. Shame on you Van Horn…you gambled and got caught. Was it realy worth it?
Truck Cost $31,000.00…keep it and make lemonade.
