Broken Arrow is a city located in northeastern Oklahoma. It is the largest suburb of Tulsa. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 74,859. Broken Arrow is located in Tulsa/Wagoner County, and borders Tulsa. Broken Arrow is approximately 20 minutes from Tulsa International Airport. The name comes from a Creek community who established a new town site at an area they had visited while gathering materials for making arrows. Since they had broken branches from the trees instead of cutting them to make their arrows, they named their new camp “Thlikachka” or “Broken Arrow.”
