My “sales rep” was Michael Plank but it was the sales manager who sold me this car. Avoid him like the plague people! Very good scam artist!
I normally don’t give such low reviews, but I had to answer each question honestly. I had been searching for a Cadillac CTS for several weeks, when a car from Rogers popped up in my search. I emailed the dealership, and the sales manager called me within 5 minutes. The asking price for this vehicle was $23,500. I had a trade and knew how much to expect on my trade.
We discussed financing, and I asked him if he could do better than my bank at 6.2% on a 60 month loan. He said they could do 5.0%. He also said that he would give me $4000 for my trade, which was around what I was expecting. He offered to deliver the car to me, and was very insistent that I make a decision that day. I told them that I would not have time to do the deal that day because I had to get my kids. However, I was promised that he would get there on time and everything would be fine.
We agreed on a “60 month payment” and he had an employee drive the car to me. Of course, the driver was “late” for 4, 5, 6 different reasons, which I’m sure that not giving me the time to look over the paperwork thoroughly was the main reason. He had to get to “church”, so he was in a hurry. Then it took him forever to get the plate off my car…another convenient way to rush me. I admit that I was ignorant and signed everything so that I could pick my kids up from school.
However, when I got my copies of the paperwork two days later, I saw that I had not financed the car for 60 months, but 72 months. My interest rate was not 5.0%, it was 5.9%. All in all I financed $32,000! How does this add up? $23,500 plus $5,000 residual on my trade should have been $28,500. Like a snake, they snuck in an additional $4,000 on me by taking advantage of the fact that I told them the driver needed to be there by a certain time so that I could get my kids. Conveniently late. Convenient trouble getting the plate off my car…
The really bad part? They never gave me the owners’ manuals. I have called and emailed several times and I have never received a return phone call or email. They sure can solicit service specials though!
This dealer may have sold me one vehicle, but that is all they will ever sell to me! I am in sales as well, and I have made a good living by being honest and upgrading my current customers. I had a bad feeling about this dealer, and I should have listened.
