I decided to finance a car and stop leasing with BMW and it was the worst experience turning in my lease. My vehicle was kept under the required miles and in great shape. I had no idea how poorly they would treat me on the way out. When I turned in my vehicle they told me I owed $600 for two new tires ($600) for whoever the new owner would be. Mind you that they would just put new tires on the vehicle before selling to a new owner. The head of sales came out to discuss my concerns but gave zero consultation but in stead made sure I knew that if I had stayed in business with them they would have been able to help and not charge me. What makes it worse is I had serviced the vehicle with BMW three weeks before and was told I didn’t need to buy new tires given that I was about to turn it back in.
I decided to not turn the car back in just yet to find more affordable tires to buy and then return it. While driving home got a call from BMW just to tell me I also will owe an additional $350 fee that I had no idea about for not staying with their business.
Given the stresses of this year, it was devastating that they would treat me this poorly after back to back three year leases with them. It seems like they are more interested in punishment for leaving their business than rewarding for loyalty. Just fair warning to anyone thinking about starting business with them, they will hurt you on the way out.
I bought an 08 cpo 335i 4 months ago. on the first service they called me and said the car had crushed subframe connectors and blamed me also saying that it happened when i had it towed. I told them the car has not been towed but they insisted that the problem was my fault. I went to the dealership to see the car and taled to the shop forman. he said that it was obviously new damage because there was no rust, i proceeded to explain that the part was made of aluminum and would not have rust on it. Also while the car was on the lift I found that the car was missing a splash guard and clips that hold the front bumper together on the car. They suggested taking a part from another customers car that was an over night car and order them another one. It took over two weeks to get the car fixed and when i went to pick it up it was missing parts, headlights were aimed all over the place and the brakes were squeeking. I found out that the car with 3,000 miles on it, needed brakes because they were not replace at the time of certification. I was fed up with them so i spoke with the GM and he promised to buy the car back at the full purchase price. When i found a new car, they shorted me 6,000 dollars that i had to roll over into the new car. Once they get your money, that is the last you hear from them. Do not buy from them!!!!!
Asked United BMW to install a suspension upgrade kit on a new 2011 BMW.
United BMW only installed half of the parts. The parts they did install were installed incorrectly. They rounded-off a few bolts. A four wheel alignment performed as part of the installation was massively hosed up.
United BMW said that they sold me a different suspension that did only contain half of the parts, but cost the same amount of money.
The service invoice cited the BMW part number of a product United BMW advertised prominently featuring the missing parts. The service invoice stated the missing parts had been installed.
United BMW asked for another $1,500 to complete the suspension upgrade with all the required parts.
United BMW insisted the four wheel alignment was done correctly even though toe-out was massively out of spec on all four wheels, and there was a 6 degree difference in camber between the two rear wheels.
Great customer care and attention. I knew what I wanted and the dealership worked with me on the type of car I was interested and financing. There was no pressure just making me aware of what options were available.
I recently had work done on my 2004 X3 and was given a quote. While I have never had a problem with this company’s service, Derek Mugge, of this company “repeatedly” lies to customers for the sake of a dollar. Over the phone, Derek quoted a price of $348 for “six” ignition coils. When I got the receipt, it showed that I was only given “three” coils…yet I was still “charged” for three. When I asked for my money back, Derek said he could change the invoice to reflect that I got six coils! Ridiculous! He then said he could show me the old coils and prove they actually put six coils in! (as if I would know that the coils he was showing me were previously in my vehicle!) This isn’t the first time this company has tried to rip me off…but it is the last! Do Not Use this company! They will surely steal your money!
Until recently, I was generally happy with their service, but things seem to be taking a turn for the worse. For example, the highlights of my last service appointment (for a factory recall item) included an “upgrade” to my navigation/entertainment display software that was not asked for and definitely not appreciated (it now looks TERRIBLE), and a new $25 fee for a “loaner” car (not disclosed in advance – just added to my bill). This second item really concerns me – one of the big sales pitches I received from them was the benefit of being a BMW owner was free loaner cars! I spoke with their service manager about it, and he claimed that this was something that BMW “forced them to do”. I doubt that very much, though I do plan to follow up with BMW North America on that one. My guess is that I will be adding another concern – dishonesty. My advice – if you’re willing/able to spend the money, buy a BMW – they are great cars – but find a different dealer for service. Joe Owen Suwanee, GA
