This is our experience, you can judge for yourself. We originally bought a 2008 Subaru Impreza from this dealer. The buying experience was about average and we were fairly happy with the purchase.
A couple of weeks into owning the car, my wife noticed an odd noise. She spoke to Ogden Subaru’s service department and was told that this was probably gearing noise and not to worry about it. Three months into owning the car, we had to take it in to have the transmission replaced. It was inconvenient but as the car was still under warranty, we didn’t have to pay the $3500 for repairs. A year later, another noise is noticed and when we take the car in for maintenance, we find out that the air conditioning compressor is going out. Again, it was under warranty so we are not out the $1200 but now we are worried about what else might go wrong. The warranty was going to run out and we’d already seen almost $5000 in repairs to a car with a sales price around $20,000 (25% of the price in the first 15 months of ownership!).
We went in and spoke to our salesperson, Gary, at Ogden Subaru. We were pleasantly surprised that we didn’t have to do any arguing and we were able to trade the car for a 2010 version and basically restart our loan. This was on Feb. 4th, 2010. Today is March 8th, 2010 and as of yet, the original loan has not been paid off. Both my wife and I have been told that payment was sent and that they will get us a tracking number on the check. That was over a week ago and still nothing. Now we are getting late notices and calls from Chase bank. The best part, this is financed through Subaru, no third parties involved!
Overall, Ogden Subaru did get some things right but the lack of follow through we have experienced along the way will probably keep us from buying there again or recommending them.
Purchased a maintenance agreement for the length of the lease (3yr). Turns out the agreement was for 2 years, 24K. Brought car in for 30K maintenance assuming it was covered. When picking up car was presented with a bill for 383.90!
At no time was I informed in any manner that there would be a charge, nor was I informed of how much it would cost. This came as a complete surprise. When I expressed my surprise, I was informed that the service was completed, therefore I owed the money and the car would not be released to me until I paid.
So, I paid ( actually a friend put it on a cc for me) and all I received from the service director when I told him my plight was “sorry”……..
It is incredible to me that in this economy, it would be assumed that someone would have 400.00 just layig around. The service dept should have informed me beforehand of the cost, either by phone or while I was standing there in front of them. Instead I have been made to feel as though it were my fault that I didn’t ask.
