Worst dealer in Utah. Stay away. Extremely dishonest and rude.
:devil( Do NOT buy from this dealer!! They are liars & Swindlers. Absolutely no business ethics. Horrible customer service. The sales guy got in my face… was totally rude. They pressured my 19 yr old daughter to sign papers before I got there as co-signer and sold her a car with out my finished paperwork. They sucked her in the deal and made it impossible for me not to sign because she would be left with a $400 monthly payment. Seriously the worst experience of my life. Do NOT walk on the lot. :devil(
We had been shopping around for a new car for weeks when we drove by and seen a 08 Chevrolet on the lot and stopped in to check the price.
We were greeted by a young lady named Heather and thats when our experience at this dealership had restored our faith in Car Salesmen!! From step one to leaving the lot was a wonderful experiance!! I would recomend this dealership to all my family and friends!! Great cars, Service, Price…. and it was fun!! Thanks Heather! 😀
Worst experience ever – Bought the car last year and am still mad about the treatment. We walked in because my son spotted a 300z and wanted to drive it. We test drove it but it was missing out so bad we had to turn right around and return to the dealer. They said they’d get it fixed and wanted to know if they could make a deal now and guarantee it would be fixed. Told them no and wanted to leave. They quickly got my son interested in a Mazda and I agreed to test drive it. Seemed like a nice enough car but it was getting dark and was cold outside already so I wanted to leave but they were very persuasive about talking a deal. I made the mistake of falling for the usual “Make me an offer, any offer, and I’ll show it to my manager” gambit. After about 2 hours of back and forth the salesman agreed to throw in a bumper-to-bumper warranty if we had a deal. I was thrown off by the changing of sales people in the process. One of the people I was dealing with had to go to a stake function and they really talked this up along with how they are the most honest, longest serving dealership in northern utah. Big mistake – being thrown off by the church talk. I was really tired by this time (was being treated for a neck injury and had taken a muscle relaxer earlier and wanted to get going). We agreed on price with warranty, signed a bunch of papers, were somewhat hurried out the door (we were the last customers in the place and they were locking up) and my son got in the car and drove home. I followed in my vehicle.
It started snowing before we got home. The car that the salesman told me was so great in the snow wouldn’t even make it up my only slightly elevated driveway. I had to put salt all over to get it into garage. Next morning I looked at it closer in the daylight. One tire had a bulge in it and all four were really low on tread (I paid over 18000 for this car and got almost bald tires!). I called the dealer on Monday and explained that they sold me a car that shouldn’t even have passed safety inspection. They told me I should have checked the car out better and for all they knew I was hot rodding it around over the weekend and damaged the tires by abusing the car. And this was the sales manager – the guy that deals with customers that you would think they might want back for repeat business??? The closest I had ever been treated like this was basic training in the military. Except in basic training I was never accused of lying. Complete turnaround from 2 nights before. I went back to the car to get the papers we had signed to see if the warranty covered tires. Could not find any paperwork. In the rush to get out the night of the sale I had left the papers and the folder they put them in on the finance managers desk or the table in the main lobby. I called back and they said they would mail them. After multiple calls I finally got the papers almost 2 weeks later. There were only 2 sheets in the envelope. There should have been several more because of the warranty papers. I called them back. They claimed there had never been a discussion of the warranty and they never even asked me if i wanted one. This is the same warranty that I told my son we would walk out on the deal unless it was thrown in. This discussion and all the back and forth took an hour of our time on the night of the sale. I would have to be seriously delusional to imagine all the haggling we did on the warranty part. This was the deal breaker because of a some serious money i had spent on a previous car that didn’t have the extended warranty.
Long story short – we went back to the dealer after many more phone calls and got a meeting with salesmen involved along with finance and sales manager. Salesman denied ever discussing a warranty, said he had never even once mentioned a warranty and that we had never asked him about one. I asked them if that meant I was lying and that they should tell me that to my face. The manager said this meeting was over and they didn’t have time for anyone that would dare question their integrity. Told them I would sue in small claims court and was told good luck. Do whatever you like but you have no proof. Bottom line, this was about the 10th or 11th dealer I had done business with in about 25 years. I never had high expectations of car dealers and consequently have had some better than expected experiences since my standards were not overly high to start with. BTW – the Ford dealer in Bountiful Utah where I had previously leased a truck in 2004 is one I’d recommend to anyone.
Anyways, I was telling my story at work and one of the other engineers overheard me say it was a dealer in Ogden. He walked over and asked if it was Rocky Mountain. I told him yes and he said it couldn’t have been any worse than his experience with them. I learned a valuable experience out of this and that is to take another adult along, don’t fall for the church talk, don’t negotiate when tired, and always make sure you have everything in writing AND in your possession. I doubt whether one in a hundred dealers would pull as slick a scam as I believe this salesman pulled on me but you can’t be too careful. I don’t know if this was something the salesman pulled off on his own or with collaberation but it was definitely the worst sales experience of a lifetime for me. If this was the only dealership in the state and it was a matter of buying there or riding a bike, I’d turn into a regular lance armstrong because I’d be pedaling from now on.
One last comment – the salesman talked about how they go over cars like this with a fine-toothed comb. Everything about their cars was in tip top shape before the customer gets to them and I wouldn’t have to do a thing until the next oil change. They even offered to perform the first one free (but it was 30 miles away and with the drive and wait it would have been at least a 4 hour ordeal). After the experience above I didn’t take them up on it. Took it to Jiffy lube instead. Jiffy lube told me it looked like the engine oil hadn’t been changed in quite awhile and the transmission oil was WAY past due. This was the first time ever that I spent more than $50 at a Jiffy Lube (it was over $150). So much for their fine-tooth comb. Between that and the tires (and the rear tail lamp assembly leaking really bad – which we found out by washing the car) we were definitely surprised at the lack of service performed prior to the sale. This car was not prepped at all. BTW – the Mazda dealer in Bountiful was great about fixing the tail light. It still had a month on the factory warranty and they took care of it within the few days it took to order the parts. If no warranty it would have cost me over $500 to fix. The Bountiful dealer called me a week later to make sure I was satisfied with the service and I got a followup phone call from some type of independent survey place to rate my experience.
On the other hand, the dealer in Ogden not only never called once to do a followup but it took at 6 or 7 calls to them before I was able to even secure an appointment to meet with them – they do not “do followup phone calls” like anyone that was the least customer oriented would. They seemed to have zero interest in a customer once the deal is done. The car itself has been good so far but I spent almost $2200 to get a full warranty from Warranty Direct and another $800 on tires. This is around $3000 more than I had bargained for. This in addition to the terrible sales experience took all the positive feelings out of purchasing a car. In years past I’ve always enjoyed buying cars. They ruined that experience on this one but my son likes driving it and as long as it holds up at least that part should be ok.
This is a long rant but it is the first time I’ve ever written one before and it took more than the paragraph I originally intended. I don’t even like to hassle with rebate coupons on purchases from a store much less write a novel complaining about a purchase but this car purchase was definitely a once in a lifetime experience for me.

You should never consider your experience with a bad car dealer a “rant”. Your experience is very common all over the U.S. Bad car dealers give good car dealers a bad name. I haven’t purchased a new car in over ten years because of the last experience I had. Although your experience is terrible, it is not uncommon. I am now in the market again (simply because my current car is malfunctioning). I now do a lot of research including going to great websites like carbuyingtips.com. You ain’t heard the worst until you visit that website. Good luck to you and continue to educate others about dishonest car dealerships

While browsing through the vehicle selection on a day off with my daughter, I was greeted by a young guy that was very friendly and seemed sincere. He asked what I was looking for, in which case I replied that I was just shopping, trying to decide whether to refinance my care or purchase a new one. Of course, he said well lets see if we can’t get you into a new vehicle, and took me on a test drive of the car I was scoping out.
After we got back, I was turned over to another sales person that had me fill out some info to see what they could give me for my trade. After about 30 minutes, he came back and made me an offer and indicated that because I was upside down in my car, I would need to come up with a large some of money for a down payment. I told him I could only come up with a small portion of it, and thanked him for his time and said I would explore some options and possibly come back in the future.
The sales person told me to wait a few minutes, left the room for about 5, then came back and told me they would take care of my down payment by getting me a “dip loan”. I asked if it was a for sure thing, which he replied yes. He asked, ” if we can get you into this vehicle with 7% interest, and take care of your down payment for you, would we have a deal? “. I replied yes, but only if they could do those two things. He assured me it would be taken care of, told me to “sign here”, and a deal was made. That is when it all went downhill.
Days later, I was called by the finance person that told me they got my car financed at 10%. Of course I became concerned, especially when they indicated they were unable to get my down payment financed as well. I was told that my only option was to try various places, on my own, to see if I could get a credit card to cover it. I asked if I could bring back the car and undo the deal, and was told no. After I asked what would happen if I wasn’t able to get the credit card approved, I was told, ” then we will have to turn you over to collections “.
This whole process has taken up about two and a half weeks of my time, and has been a very bad experience overall. I have spoken with 4 different people throughout this, and 2 of them are at least friendly, but still can’t give me any options that are in my best interest as a customer. They did go down on the vehicle price, but were unwilling to go any lower even though it would’ve resolved this whole ordeal. I finally got approval, after speaking to the right person, to come in and undo the deal. Now my credit score has dropped from all of the inquiries, and I do not have a new car.
There has been no consideration for my time. Almost every time I have called in, I have been treated like a nuissance, and for some reason I have been dealing with the consequences of this dealership not being able to hold their end of the deal. I have been working harder to get me into a vehicle than they have been.
Before you buy here, make sure you see ANY deal they offer in writing, have them sign it, and give you a copy. Do not take any deals until you have seen proof that they are upholding what they say, and ask as many questions as you possibly can! Do not trust their word alone. The overall feel I got from this place is unless you are not upside down in your car, have perfect credit, and a large some of money to put down, you will not be treated the way you should be.
If you DO decide to shop here, ask for Danny McHullan or Justin Smith, as they seem to be the only people here that are at least consistant.
They sold me a lemon and they knew it. After $1,000 into it within the first week, they said you purchased a used car, you should expect problems. Then, they convinced me to buy an extended warranty – another $600.00. Finally, I bring it in cause it’s running like shit and they tell me what needs to be done isn’t covered under the warranty I purchased. Another $300.
I wouldn’t buy another car from them if they were the last car dealership on this planet. Steer clear of this place!! 😡
