Buyer beware. This is not the way car buying should be. Everything you do is video recorded. Everything you say is audio recorded. The sharks will leave you to “discuss” and go back and listen to your conversation and watch you on video. Expect one lie after another. Nothing is beneath this place….Nothing!
2 problems in 1 week – my 2012 pilot 11k miles. I brought in my broken key to be replaced. The dealer told me $190. I called Honda cust. serv. Honda arranged for a key to be replaced FREE!
While back at the dealer to replace the key, my neighbors were attempting to purchase a 12 FIT. The car retail is 16k, they had a 3k trade in meaning the car should only be 13k. The salesperson was trying to sell the car for 19k!!! I stepped in and they immediately dropped the price to 17k. Everyone happy? NOPE!
The sales manager and salesman corned me in the service area. The saleman was pounding his fist into his hands while they talked! Suggesting NO THREATENING YES!!! I asked if they wanted to go outside to discuss this. They walked away.
Know comes the service manager (pissed off) asking who I am etc. I explain that it does not matter who I am, I advised my neighbor how to buy a car. He went on a rage asking why etc. I explained you apparently dont like to do warranty repairs or sell cars honestly.
They pulled my truck out and did not complete any work and banned me. LOL like I would go back to these shady crooks. STAY AWAY!!!
VERY SLEAZY Dealership. Would NOT recommend to ANYONE. I went there because they were the only one in Houston area that had the make / model that I needed. Don’t believe what you read on the internet about advertised price. They have a separate marketing team (outsourced) to add on stupid stuff like “nitrogen filled tires” for hundreds of dollars. Finance department flat out lied to us (we paid cash) on how the transaction would be handled.
BAD BAD BAD – they don’t honor their internet quote, it’s just a way to lure you to walk into their dealership, they mislead you. AVOID.
My bad experience with this dealership happened very recently, in December 2011.
I was given a quote on the internet by a girl from Honda Cars of Katy for my choice of vehicle without add-ons. The follow-up to that email was very strong, I got follow-up emails and phone calls. The internet quote was very attractive, and I was told that I will be given after- sales freebies including oil change for life, loaner vehicle when you for servicing, free emergency towing & road side assistance and possible discount on accessories. With these promising deal, I walked into the dealership carrying my printed email with the internet quote. I specifically asked for the girl that I dealt with on the internet and whom I called earlier in the day to ensure that no miscommunication takes place, I even checked with her prior to dropping by that she will be in when i drop by. Guess what, I was told that she was not available, and that the sales person who attended to me would have the information. Well turned out the sales person did not have the earlier quoted internet price, instead i was presented with a drive out price which was approximately USD 4000 higher !! You can imagine my shock. The vehicle sales price was higher and there were add-ons that i did not ask for. I showed them my internet print out, I waited & waited while ‘discussions’ took place between the sales person and others (managers, internet department, who knows..). .I was told apparently there must have been a miscommunication, the internet girl is new , inexperienced etc etc etc. Finally the manager came by and made a show of ‘honoring’ the non-add-on vehicle price as per the internet, but left the add-ons as they are which amounted to ~USD2000. I refused the offer, i said to take off the add-ons as i walked into the dealership specifically for the internet quoted price without add-ons. They refused, so I walked out.
(the sales person was polite throughout, he was probably just at the mercy of the way business is done at the dealership)
Today I drove out my brand new vehicle from another car dealer who did not give false expectations just like what Honda Cars of Katy has done. Price from the time I first enquired over the phone (didn’t even need something on black & white) to the time I signed the deal was close. My time was not wasted and I was not taken for a ride.
I’m not sure about the other reviews on thus site but I had a good exerience buying from them. Paid less for my new car than others quoted, got more for my trade than expected and the after the sale response has been great.
Pls go n’ shop elswhere not to Honda cars of katy
After having such a bad experience of buying a Honda pilot Touring from Honda Cars of Katy, I was going thru the review and I was shocked to see, that majority of the buyers had the same or even worse experience than me. Recently I planned to buy a Honda pilot Touring and I requested the internet quote. For that they given the lowest quote $31250. Happy in seing the price I called them on the phone and the person who attended told me the price is correct. The same day I visited the showroom and a sales person welcomed me.And I asked for the person I spoke thru the phone and they told he left early and regarding the price it is a mistake happened and I thought it was true.
Then I asked for the drive out price and the manager and the sales person (Ryan) given $39850. And it was negotiated and made to $39500. I agreed and made the deal. I had a car to trade with an amount of $3000. They told me an expert will say the price for the car and he told the car worth $2300.To avoid the head ache of selling outside, that also I agreed. Then they took me to the financial dept. His name was Ray. He asked me how much I was going to put the down payment and I told $3000 plus a car worth $2300 = $5300. So calculated $39500 – $5300 =$34200. But that MATHEMATICAL MAGICIAN calculated in some otherway and the total came to $44000. Now I have to pay monthly $680 X 72 months = $48960. When I asked any doubt regarding the calculation he was misguiding me and saying something which a normal person cannot understand. One thing is sure, if any one who enter the gate of Honda cars of Katy they will fool you like anything. EXPERTS SAYS ” Experience makes Man Perfect. But let me say If someone goes to Honda Cars of Katy to make a deal he is Sucked.
So pls Beware of Honda Cars of Katy
đĄ
I had a new born one month old now and Jan 31 2011Monday looked like a good day to buy a minvan for the family with good price because I heard car dealership had interest and tax cost for the cars that they couldn’t sell on the lot. Tested drive a 2011 EX odyssey sliver color around noon and liked it a lot. Walked out the shop around 2pm due to disagreement on price. Drove to Gillman Honda approx 4:30pm and worked with Tim Chow (manager) to agree $33,250 drive out price plus accessory (roof rack & cross bar + side molding). We almost sign the deal with Tim until I received a call fromTony Dton (Honda Cars of Katy) saying that he would honor the same package like Gillman, but only $33,000 drive out price on the silver color one. At the time we told Tim Chow that Katy Honda offered us $33,000 and he couldn’t match that. Tim said if Katy Honda would honor us for $33,000 that is a great deal. Then we apologized to Tim since we waste him 2 hrs for nothing. Arrived at Katy Honda 7:30 pm and it turned out that Tony won’t sell me the silver EX odyssey instead the white color one. Then we negotiated the price back and forth and finally settle at $33,360 on the white one (time was 9:05pm and dealership closed on 9pm). Due to time constraint, we did not test drive the white Odyssey assuming all new cars are zero defects and no issue (big mistake!!) By the time I signed the contract and finalized all paper work was almost mid-night. Got the key and happy to drive a brand new car to home and I noticed that some noise come out from engine when it stayed at 1000-1500RPM. I keep asking myself why a brand new car has this funky noise (like something scratches the engine.) I took the odyssey back on 02/1/2011 for check up, âtheir highly trained techniciansâ claimed they found nothing wrong with the engine and it works perfectly fine. However when I pointed out the others odyssey in their park lot does not have such noise. Then they took my white one back to the service unit for another test. Luckily my wife showed up at the dealership on Thursday 02/03 and showed their technicians how to replicate the engine noise, and finally they heard the noise. Several hours later the technician was able to isolate the issue where the tension belt is defected and not doing what it supposes to do its jobs. The technician said they can fix it. Then we laugh, are you kidding me, a brand new car from Honda dealership at Katy just out of their parking lot one day, and it is in the service unit for repair. We then spent 2-3 hrs talking to their line manager, sale manager ( for exchange for another odyssey. They said we signed the contract and we now the owner of the car, they will be happy to fix it, but wonât able to exchange any one. However, they offered us to trade it in for $26000-27000, then they will work with me. This is totally unheard of. At this time, I am tired, worry and frustrated because when you brought a brand new car you expect zero issue. Besides, why the hell I would pay over $33k for a brand new car that needs to be fixed the next day. Afterall, we stuck with a brand new car (not anymore) that needs to be fixed now and ready to be pick up tomorrow 02/04/2011. What I learn from this horrible experience is that: 1) always test drive the car you are interested, you test drive one car is in good shape that doesnât mean others are the same. 2)go online research the integrity and business ethnic of each car dealerships before you commit any deals. 3) If I read this review from https://cardealercheck.com, on Katy Honda, I definitely wonât ever purchase anything from them. 4) Buy car with honest dealership like â Gillman Honda .5) DO Not Buy Anything From âHonda Cars of Katyâ 6) âHonda Cars of Katyâ is bunch of crooks from top to bottom.
:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:First of all I was lied to on the phone because when I arrived I was told that the car I just had called for was sold (within the 30 minutes it took me to get there, yeah right) and was pressured to purchase something else, of course more expensive. Being that I hate car shopping and I live in Katy plus the salesman was nice from the beggining and I know that he does what he is told by his managers,I was willing to give him a chance and hoped to end my car shopping there anyway. unfortunately after finding out about the rip-off $400 oil change offer they stick you with (mandatory I was told) I still was willing to go with it since I live in the area. Now the last straw was financing, Alex was rude and ignorant by discriminating me and my family, first of all I was denied the rate that honda was advertising and my credit being 740’s and when I told him that I would check with honda financing directly he changed his story and was trying to force me buy extended coverage and insurance contracts to get me the rate Honda advertised and did not work( I guess they do not believe a young hispanic male with a carrer can have great credit and a great income job, just like another co-worker friend of mine and he is black shared the same racist experience) now in your contract they stick additional rip-off warranties and insurances for THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS and do not disclose it. while in the finance office I was turned over to the assistant manager, finance director, and the general manager and all of them would come back with different stories every time, so I was done at that point and just left. Next day I tried numerous times to contact the owner or store manager to share the terrible experience but neither would return my calls untill I got Chris Morrison the store manager to answer a call and he was the same rude and disrespectful jus tlike the managers and finance department in his store . Unfortunately too many people have been robbed since the store oppened but hopefully this will warn some consumers to avoid this terrible place.
I took my 2008 Honda Accord in for an oil change under their service plan. When I picked my car up, they told me that there was something wrong with my rear brakes and that there was a lawsuit and I could get a reimbursement for the replacement. They quoted me a cost of $150 for the repair. I told them I would look up the details of the lawsuit at home before I brought it in to be fixed. I went home, looked up the lawsuit and saw that it was a valid issue. I then took it in the same day to get it taken care of.
When I went to pick up the car, the invoice said $238. I told them that the manager had quoted me a price of $150. After much discussion and denial, they finally called the manager who had quoted me the price to ask him. He confirmed the price, and they charged me $150.
What’s more is that as I was walking out, I noticed the keys seemed a little lighter and I realized that they had only given me my car key back. The rest of my keychain which included my house key was missing. I searched my car, couldn’t find it, and walked back in to ask the girl at the counter about where the rest of my keys were. They “looked” for it and told me they couldn’t find it. At that point I knew that someone had stolen the rest of my key chain.
Needless to say after two terrible experiences with them in one day, I will not be going back. Bottom line: don’t come here. They lie, they cheat, and they steal.
And now what’s more, I’m going to have to change my locks and cancel my gas card that was on my key chain too. Don’t come here. Worst dealership ever.
We attempted to purchase a 2010 Civic EX from this dealership, ashowroom car. After spending 3 hours negotiating until 11:00 at night, wethought the deal was complete. The paperwork was submitted and signed. We hadto wait to pick up the car the next day–we already had a car there with onlyone driver. The next day my husband went to pick up the car. The car was gonefrom the showroom. They brought him the car that he had “purchased”,but it wasn’t the right car. They brought an LX instead of an EX. Then theyclaimed they sold the showroom car (that we purchased the night before) tosomeone else earlier in the day, and that he had indeed purchased a differentcar. They basically called my husband a liar. He is not a liar or stupid–heknows what car he purchased. He was not allowed to compare VIN #s so we have noidea what vehicle was really listed on our paperwork. This dealership has nointegrity. They are the liars, and I would advise anyone to avoid purchasing acar from them. Houston is a big city and there are many Honda dealerships.Avoid this one at all costs. We own an Odyssey as well (purchased from adifferent dealership 6 years ago) and we live very close to Honda Cars of Katy.I will not ever bring it here for service. Dishonesty of this sort comes fromthe top down, so I wouldn’t trust anything these guys say. Buyer beware forsure!!
I put price request on
I put price request on
I will start with positives — their showroom is emaculate. The guy who showed basic features and adjustments was very helpful and cordial.
The rest is horrible. The salesman, finance mgr, and used car mgr the evening I purchased my vehicle intentionally misrepresented their inventory of EX-L Odysseys to make a sale of a higher priced EX-L. I accidentally discovered their deceit via their internet sales group. When I directly asked the salesman if there were other silver EX-L models on the lot that were lower priced, he danced around it saying, “. . .we could have given you a skinnier deal; but we tried to give you the best deal we could.” I drove 120 miles to Katy in my clunker on the promise that we will do “whatever it takes” to get you into that vehicle. And this is even after I told them the silver EX-L was a bit out of my price range. The general manager make excuses that he didn’t know the actual inventory vs what was advertised on their website and that an outfit in Dallas, Tx manages their website. I asked for equitable reduction in price and revision of my sales contract. I got a half-hearted apology.
Also watch out for the Oil Change for Life scam. I live 120 miles away in Austin. While reviewing my contract, I found a difference of $399 in purchase price on different documents. Fiance mgr says its Oil changes for life, which we never discussed nor is itemized on the paperwork. Catch is they’re not really free, you actually pay for them. But the biggest catch is they’re good only in Katy, Tx. Know anyone willing to drive 5 hrs round trip for an oil change he can get locally in 30 minutes? I asked for this to be removed from the contract and he refused. The general manager has ignored all my calls and emails about this. I’m reporting to as many agencies as I can including the BBB, Consumer Credit Commission, and probably the Ag General of Tx. This isn’t over yet!
Honda Cars of Katy lives up to the sleaze ball used car sales men stereotype all the way. Donât waste your time, energy or resources on these fraudsters.
Fraud, deceit, lack of integrity, honesty and honor âŠ..I could go on about my recent experience at Honda Cars of Katy. My experience is similar to others posted on here. They have a scam going with Cars for Clunkers trying to get you to pay over sticker with the cash rebate and then will not honor their internet pricing with a clunker. (Sticker price + clunker rebate) = Sucker profits —Don’t be a sucker…..
Short of it… They will tell you everything you want to hear to get you physically into their showroom and then the words that got you in their showroom fail to be even half âtruths. They will play the âhe said she said gameâ as deniability. …. In my experience they failed to honor their marketed internet pricing, failed miserably on my trade-in (low balled it by over 30% of what it was worth and what a honest dealer bought it down the street) and then wanted me to make the payoff on top of that as a roll up into my new car loan. Then they played the hold your keys game for over 15 minutesâŠ. AND LOOK OUT FOR ALL THE ADDED FEES AND COSTS THEY ADD above their disclosed/ agreed upon price…. I was actually offered the interent price (their defense to my bait and switch claim) plus $2,300 in additional fees including $1,600 in advertisement costs they wanted me to pay for in my car purchase.
Please donât put yourself through this misery. If you want to buy a better car in the same price range (or cheaper comparing features) and be treated with respect and not like shark bait, I highly suggest you visit West Houston VW dealership. After my disgusting experience with Honda Cars of Katy I bought a superior car (Jetta vs. Accord) within $200 of what I had pre-calculated (price, trade-in, financing) prior to my visit. It was a wonderful “NO GAMES” experience that turned a bad day into a good one. Best of luck in your car buying experience.
I can tell you prior to today I had no experience with either of these dealerships.
I will be filing a compliant with the Texas AG on fraudulent business practices and will tell my horror story to every Katy residence who will indulge me the opportunity.
Katy Honor, how did you discover the $1600 in advertising fees? Were they itemized on your contract or were they hidden? I’m having trouble with Honda Katy also.
Thanks,
F
Great experience buying a Honda with Honda cars of Katy. Also their service is nice and we are with honda for the past ten years and we have wonderful experience.
Mr.Gilbert Mora – very nice sales Executive. Great experience buying a car.

Good Job guys!!!!!!!!!
Honda Katy is a dealership full of liars â and there is nothing I despise more than a liar. After receiving several internet quotes from different dealerships, Veronica in internet sales sent us the following e-mail:

Thanks for your email. We sent you a price quote of $37,297.14 D.O on the Touring model which is $34,851.95 + TTL. We’re not too far away from the deal. Is there anyway you can come in with your quote and give me the opputunity to beat it?
So after calling to confirm that SHE would be available and that the car we wanted was available ON THE LOT, we went to the dealership so she could beat the other quote.
Upon arrival:
ĂŸ Veronica was no where to be found
ĂŸ We were immediately âtransferredâ to a salesperson (Casey) who started in on the scarity of the modelâŠclearly he has not been observing the tanking of the car industry.
ĂŸ Of course, he had to âgo speak to my manager and see what I can doâ because heâs supposedly our new best friend.
ĂŸ Suddenly the car we wanted, which Veronica said they had, is not there.
ĂŸ The manager (also claiming to âjust want to help usâ) informed us that the other dealership was lying and that they wouldnât honor the quote because it was just a gimmickâŠstrangely the quote was the same type of e-mail that Veronica sentâŠdoesnât that make him just as dishonest and sleezy?
ĂŸ Then we of course had to sit and wait while they pretended to search for the car and beat the quote as we were promised in writingâŠwhich never occurred.
ĂŸ After wasting an hour our time, we left and will not return.
ĂŸ We witnessed are all the typical sleazy sayings, classic bait and switch and âwaiting gameâ ploys.
ĂŸ We went in to the dealership prepared to write a check for the full amount of the car (as quoted) and left realizing that not only would they not beat the quote we had, they wouldnât even honor their OWN quoteâŠand we hadnât even made it to the finance/purchase area where Iâm sure they planned to try to raise the prices again.
Be prepared for despicable treatment and lies should you choose to purchase a car from this dealership.
Thanks for this post. I had a similar experience and it is good to educate the Katy community about what to expect from this sleazy dealership
Worst dealership ever. Don’t go. They misinform you and they are rude.
I am always in the defense mode when I go into a car dealership. đź
As a woman, I just do not like dealing with car salesmen because I really do not know anything about the size of engines and things like that. I just know what I like, what I can afford and what I expect out of the car I drive.
My reservations and hesitations were soon put to rest by my salesmen, David Weingartner and Carl Craig (I talked with them both on different occasions). With this feeling of distrust in the back of my mind, I proceeded cautiously with the transaction.
I was allowed to take a test drive of the car I wanted, a 2009 CRV, fully loaded. David Weingartner went over with me all the features of the car and explained to me the differences between the 2008 and 2009. He made sure I understood everything he was telling me and wanted to make sure I was satisfied with his explanations. When we returned to the dealership after the test drive, we sat down to go over all the paper work and loan application.
When I had questions about my car, Carl Craig was also there to respond to my questions. Both sales people knew that I was concerned about my time. During my time at the dealership, I saw Carl actually running from one place to another. I was very impressed with this because I felt like they cared about my time and did not want to keep me waiting unnecessarily.
I was very pleasantly surprised that I was able to be financed through Honda, as I am a victim of identity theft and my credit rating has been affected in the negative by this.
The finance person, Steve Stromatt, was very knowledgeable in what he was doing. He knew how to explain every piece of paper we reviewed in a way that I could understand it and I felt comfortable signing each piece of paper. There was no fumbling and rustling of papers. Steve had everything all laid out, 1-2-3. .. and I was in his office no more than 15 minutes and was ready to drive away in my new car.
My total time in this dealership was no more than 2 hours. And that time included the time when I went out to drive the car. After all the paper work was taken care of, a man by the name of Terry got in the car with me and went over all the features inside the car with me. There was an extensive lesson on the navigation system, as I had never worked with one before. He allowed me to work with it as he guided me, and explained the pamphlets that go along with the vehicle so that I could find answers I may have later. He also said that I could come back to the dealership any time with questions I may have, and he would go over them with me and resolve any questions I may have.
My experience at this dealership was unlike any I have had at any dealership before. I did not leave there, feeling like I had been tricked or lied to. The dealership is clean; the people there were very friendly and anxious to make sure all my questions and concerns were addressed.
Not only would I recommend this dealership to everyone, I HAVE done so. My sister was so impressed by my experience that she has thought about coming here from Louisiana to look for her new vehicle. đź
