Worst car shopping experience ever. Will never buy or step foot on a Solomon dealership anywhere after the way I was treated.
WARNING!!! BEWARE!!! WORST customer service. Don’t step foot near this dealership, you will regret it! Renee was my sales lady and Brian was the manager that day. Not sure which needs anger management classes more. Both are very hot tempered and exhibit poor business skills.
I felt physically threatened by Brian and was verbally attacked by Renee. Customers do not come first at this dealership.
What I would recommend is this dealership train their employees on basic people skills and human relations. I was ready to sign on the line until Brian got nose to nose with me and said he could make the deal but he’s not. I still don’t understand the logic??? I was ready to make a deal and give YOU my money. Very strange. Treat people with respect.
The entire experience was a joke and very unbelievable. I almost thought I was on that show punk’d because of how truly irate both Renee and Brian became. Both are very hot tempered.
Glad I did NOT purchase ANYTHING from this dealership
Absolute worst car shopping experience I have ever had, sales staff is very aggressive, arrogant, rude, inconsiderate and quite obnoxious. Very high pressure to “buy today” attitude. Never felt comfortable the entire time I was there, would not stop talking to let me think about the negotiating process towards the end. Would not budge on the price, did not like offer I was getting and decided against buying. I will never step foot on another Solomon dealership!! I would definitely NOT recommend this place to anyone.
BEWARE!!! And please take the time to read other reviews about this dealership as I am among many that would not recommend Solomon Dodge. This is not a dealership where the customer is valued. I wanted to trade my truck in for a new truck and pay cash. Sales lady tried to sell me everything but what I was looking for. When I turned down the trade in offer, the sale lady was unable to control her emotions and became irate. I left the dealership and was followed out into the parking lot by sales lady and her manager. I felt physically threatened as the manager stood nose to nose with me while the sales lady was yelling and waving papers in the background. As I walked away, the manager yelled across the parking lot that he didn’t need my business anyways. Very disrespectful, rude, unprofessional, and serious lack of business skills. I am thankful I seen that side of their customer service prior to signing on that line. I have never been treated more terribly at any dealership. Please, think twice before signing on their dotted line. You will regret ever doing business with people that treat their customers with disrespect. I literally have never seen anything like it before in my life and I have been buying vehicles for over 30 years.
The place is clean, new, We feel at home like I’m on my turf even though I’m on theirs. Will purchase their again since I feel it’s like I hit a lottery ticket and won $1,500 plus everytime I or another family relation goes there! Keep up the good work and prices Solomon!
The place is clean, new bldg., friendly feeling of home on my turf even though I’m on theirs. Buy again and again at prices that are like I hit a lottery ticket!
We’ve had a few problems with the truck a few days after we bought it. 1. check engine light came on. 2 air conditionier was blowing cold, but not hard. Sounds like a jet is taking off, but nothing happening.
I called Solomon and spoke to the service department to bring it in and have the air and check engine fixed. We ended up 3 different times (45 minutes away)to fix the check engine light only to find out that it was the catalytac converter (which isn’t cheap). The air problem was addressed that a thermometer was put in the truck and it was 43degrees. The problem was that it was cold, but it wasn’t blowing out of the vents.
A year later and its one of the hottest summers ever. We take to our local auto mechanic to find out that there is a door broken on the airconditioner/heater and that it needs to be replaced. Our mechanic advised us to take it to the dealer because a lot of models are having the same troubles. I call Solomon for them to give me the run around and finally agree to look at the part. I assured the general service manager that the part is over $1000.00 to fix and he says no way. He tries to blame it on the salesman and everything possible. In fact, I am even disconnected in call and have to leave a message for him to call me back. So we drive another 45 minutes down to Brownsville to have him look at it and 4 hrs later tell me the part is going to cost me $1100.00 to fix. It is the same problem that I took it in for a year ago when we were first having problems and nothing was wrong with it. What a disappointment! We are now looking at the Jeep Compass, but sorry not at SOLOMON’s will we ever purchase another vehicle. All 3 times that we took the truck to the shop they never offered us any kind of rental vehicle or a ride to somewhere. It is a total inconvience! I don’t recomend anyone buying from them. They are liars and won’t help you once the sale is done!
We saw an ad on the website for a red GMC Terrain that we were interested in. We called on a Wednesday to go see it, and were told it was in detail. Called back Thurs., and Friday, and were told the same thing. Something else has to be wrong with this car for it to be in detail for so long. They told us by Monday they would call us. Guess what? No call. We actually purchased the same kind of vehicle elsewhere within a day. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody. The person who told us this had the last name of Solomon. Probably part of the family of owners. Not very good business!
Patience is a virtue… somethings are work waiting for sounds like you would be hard to work with anyway. We have bought cars here without any problems. Their detailers take there time and have 30-40 cars at a time.
At first we were treated very politely here. We went in to ask some questions then brought our trade in vehicle back on the day the appraiser was in. The salesman went out to look at our trade in (the appraiser didn’t even look at it even though we came back on this day specifically for that) and when he came back, offered us quite a bit lower than book value for it. (The vehicle has some damage, but even so we had gotten much, much higher offers from every other dealership we took it to) My husband stood up, apoligized, and stated that we had better offers than that and turned as if to leave. The salesman was so angry that my husband interrupted him, or maybe that he was losing the deal, that he had a hissy fit. I’ve never seen the like. He said that if our attitude was that bad then he didn’t want our business anyway and stormed off. Yes, my husband probably could have let him finish his spiel, but really there was no point. If they were starting out that low, there was no way we would have come to an agreement and it would have wasted all our time. I am a little mad, but mostly found it funny. I would never have any of my money go here and if we end up with a jeep, I’ll go 50 miles out of my way to have it serviced elsewhere. But I guess it was funny to see a grown man have a hissy fit and storm off. Not at all professional, and I didn’t see much desire to sell cars, but still funny.
so you met mike too,, said he would order us a new visor,, of course we never did see it,, repeated phone calls didnt get any satisfaction
Very pushy and arrogant from the sales staff to the sales managers. Rude and unprofessional attitudes. Trying to now get a deposit that was claimed as “100 %” refundable to hold a car that we decided not to purchase. This company is not worth anyone’s time or efforts. There are several other dodge/jeep dealers that are much easier and cooperative to work with to make your car buying experience enjoyable, instead of a nightmare, as Solomon auto group does. Do not go to this dealer!
I am not sure if this was designed as some sort of ‘hard ball’ tactic, but after test driving a vehicle at Solomon’s the general manager, without introducing himself, approached myself and my wife, and asked if we liked the car. After telling him that we liked the car, but would like a carfax report and wanted to see the price down a little bit, he told us that we should walk out. He told us that he didn’t want to give us a car fax report, and that he couldn’t comedown on price. I replied that I would like to talk to Matt (the sales person we were waiting for) and he told me that ‘Matt would have to check everything through me. I am the general manager, and you should just leave’. I don’t know if he was ‘trying to soften us up’ (he did try a bait and switch or two), on a power trip, or just a jerk, but with management like that, I don’t expect Matt, or anyone else to get many sales.
I had a great experience with this dealership, I would definetly recommend Solomons in Carmichales, Pa if you are looking to buy or lease a new or used vehicle from them. Mike in sales & Trish the finance Mgr bent over backwards to find me the best price & a low low interest rate. 🙂
Best car buying experience ever, and I am 46 years old and have ben buying and selling cars for 30 years. I traveled roughly 500 miles for the exact product I wanted at the exact price I was willing to pay. Mike O’Donnell worked enormously hard for me searching all over the Pa area for the exact Jeep I wanted, and he needed to trade high value-high demand inventory to get it. He found a few “almost right Jeeps” but kept working until he found exactly what I wanted. There was zero effort to sell me options I didn’t want, there were no junk fees, or any other nonsense. It was also the shortest amount of time in a dealership ever spent for a purchase . . .I was in and out within 25 minutes and drove my Jeep back to Virginia . . .side note . . .not one dealer in Virginia came within 5K of the Solomon price. Their loss . . .Solomon’s gain . . .definitely my gain.
Finance experience was equally wonderful. Tricia was fast, efficient and down to earth. Both her and Mike gave me a card, told me to call with any issues, both her and Mike meant it . . .I have called several times post sale for simple questions and they are always happy to assist.
In closing, I also spoke to Jason Solomon on the phone . . .obviously he sets the tone at this dealership . . .all three were down to earth and fully cognizant of the available research tools on the internet for pricing information. I encourage everyone to research and come to this dealership.
I think it is very important when purchasing or leasing a vehicle to feel completely comfortable through the entire process. This was my experience with Tricia Stuvek at Solomon Chrysler Jeep. Tricia had as much paperwork prepared before we walked in to purchase our vehicle as was possible. She worked diligently to get us the best financing possible to make our deal work for us. She was knowledgeable, respectful, and courteous through the entire financial process. I have purchased and leased several vehicles in my lifetime, and I can honestly say this was my easiest experience. Tricia went over and above her responsibilities to make sure my service visit was handled quickly and completely. I have already referred some of my closest friends, and will continue to do so in the future, to Tricia Stuvek at Solomon Chrysler Jeep.
I think it is very important when purchasing or leasing a vehicle to feel completely comfortable through the entire process. This was my experience with Brian Solomon at Solomon Chrysler Jeep. Brian worked diligently for two solid weeks to make our deal work for us. Sight unseen by both parties, by phone and internet only. Brian ALWAYS answered my phone calls. I NEVER had to wait for a call back. He was knowledgeable, respectful, and courteous through the entire car buying process. I have purchased and leased several vehicles in my lifetime, and I can honestly say this was my easiest experience. The fact that I bought the vehicle physically sight unseen, should speak volumes for the dealership’s honesty and integrity about their vehicles and descriptions via internet. I have already referred some of my closest friends, and will continue to do so in the future, to Brian Solomon at Solomon Chrysler Jeep.
Recently purchased an ’06 Chrysler 300C AWD. The car was in showroom condition. I was extremely pleased with the car and with the service record on it. Brian was very helpful with information regarding the car, as I am an out of state buyer from Ohio. He took care of everything including giving me a good price, pleasant service, and all the paperwork involved. He went out of his way with no pressure what-so-ever. Thanks Brian…we’ll spread the word around down here about your dealership 😀 Mike Yanik
I first contacted Solomons on the phone and spoke with Matt. I called them because after searching the internet for weeks, I found that Solomons seemed to have the best selection and best prices. Matt was very kind on the phone and very helpful so I set up an appointment to stop in and see a truck. Upon arrival I could clearly see that they indeed did have the best selection. The whole sales experience was very smooth and Matt was very knowledgeable. I would recommend this dealership to anyone that has thought about buying off of them.
Bought 3 vehicles myself and my family a dozen others. Always A joy to buy a vehicle from them! Treat my family and I very well and take care of us before and long after the sale. Mike is great I would recomend him to anyone! What a great place to buy a car! The prices are low and the treatment is out of this world. As a doctor I do not have time to haggle or have my time wasted and mike makes it all easy for me with the best deals around and I’m in and out with ease!!
One of the best buying experiences ever!!My family and i have purchsed several vehicles from Solomon Chrysler,Jeep,Dodge and in particular Sean Solomon. They have the best prices around, and i have checked other places. So i will continue to purchase all my chrysler, jeep,or dodge vehicles from Solomon. And i will recommend them and Sean to my family and friends..
We wanted this car. Drove 30 miles in bitter cold to get there at the end of a long day (I mean, we *obviously* wanted this car!). The salesperson was very nice: friendly, professional, did not over-promise, etc. When we tried to negotiate a lower price (paying cash, no trade-in), he was responsive but said, basically, that there was very little wiggle room — he knocked off a little of this and a little of that so maybe $500. That was fine.
So we sat in the car to talk it over, since we’d been saving up for years in order to pay cash, and this was going to be it. Once we forked over the cash, it was gone. We’d decided, yep, it was worth it and checked through the things we’d have to fix with the car and how we’d do that, but it was fine, etc.
And then the salesperson’s boss — Greg Solomon — came out, yanked open the car door, and said “Get out, I’m not selling you this car.”
It was completely bizarre. He was borderline aggressive (I mean, if my dog were with me, she would have assumed he was in attack mode and she would have reacted in a protective way!).
We were like, “Whaaa?!” The salesperson was hanging back with his head down. It deteriorated from there — Greg Solomon saying he was the best car salesperson in the area and sold a ton of cars but wasn’t going to sell one to us, etc. etc. I have no idea if this is some kind of sales gimmick (good cop/bad cop?) that the dealer thinks will sell cars, but wow, it sooooo does not work for any sane consumer. It is simply bizarre.
And rude. Yowza. Seriously — ruder than I’ve been treated in a very, very long time.
Probably the red flag we should have paid attention to was the condition of the car. We’ve been doing a lot of used car shopping over the past twelve months (bought a sedan last year and shopping for a larger second car now), and, honestly, used-car dealers don’t deserve the rep they have. Except for this one guy (Solomon), we were met with respect and with vehicles that were clearly cared for (shiny-clean, buffed free of scratches, etc). The Jeep we were looking at at Solomon’s had scratches and was not shiny-clean (passable, but not ‘loved,’ if you know what I mean).
We should have taken that lack of respect for the used car itself as a signal that customers also would be treated with a lack of respect.
Amazing . . .don’t know Greg . . .only spoke to Jason, Mike O’Donnell and Tricia . . .amazing amount of respect from them towards me. Sad to hear you had the opposite experience. Perhaps God didn’t want you to have this car? Maybe it was bad?

The salesperson (Rich Namie) and I had negotiated on the price of a used Dodge truck for quite some time. The salesperson was very friendly, and although tough on pricing and negotiating, was never impolite or rude in any way. The time came to make a decision after approximately half an hour of haggling over the price. I stepped outside to call my wife and inform her of the decision that I had reached. The salesperson and I had come to an informal agreement on the price (amount down, trade-in value, and financing) and I had told him that I would place a refundable deposit on the truck so that it would not sell until I could come back the following day (Friday 11/20/09). When I returned from my phone call, the salesperson was writing up the offer that he thought we agreed on. Prior to handing over my credit card for the deposit, I asked to see the offer he wrote up. The offer being written was not the offer that we agreed to prior to my phone call, and I informed him of this fact. He apologized and stated that we were not on the same page. While not what I would call an honest business practice, the salesperson was not rude or insulting in any fashion as he took the offer away to write up the offer we agreed on. When he returned, he was followed by who I later found out was the owner of the dealership (Norman Solomon). The owner told me that they could not agree to the deal that the salesperson and I had informally agreed upon. While disappointed, I realized this was the end of my visit. I stood up to leave and began to tell them that they had my number and I would still like to do business with them should the offer on this particular truck change, or if another truck in my price range came in. The owner immediately cut my sentence short and began to speak to me in an insulting and belligerent manner. He essentially told me that they no longer wanted my business and that I should leave, all the while seemingly trying to provoke me into a physical confrontation. His language, mannerisms, and behavior were totally unprofessional, not to mention outright rude. He insulted and shouted at me as I walked out the door and kept talking and provoking me until I got into my vehicle, some 30 to 40 feet from the door. Prior to the owner entering the picture, I was happy with the way I was treated by the salesperson. I was satisfied that my offer was not acceptable to them and that there was no deal that could have been done that night. I had even specifically told the salesperson that I would call him tomorrow (Friday 11/10/09) whether I wanted to buy the truck or not, wanting to be considerate of his time. Norman Solomon ruined my experience at Solomon Chrysler, and is solely responsible for ending my opportunity to by that particular truck. And it is because of him and him only that I will never attempt do business with the Solomon Auto Group again. I would not want any of my family or friends to be treated and spoken to like I was; therefore I will urge anyone I know to think twice before considering doing business with Solomon Auto.
I purchased a car there recently in the past month. I can honestly say that they have the best prices anywhere you search autotrader, cars.com etc…! I searched out about 500 miles and the car I was looking for a Jeep grand Cherokee had more miles and was $2,500 more than Solomon’s price! We will buy again from them as well as my family and relations. All of us had good experiences in the past (5) years. I think in the car business it is really a cut throat business. This dealer is really on top of their game. I read where they are like 23rd in the United States in 2011 out of all the Chrysler dealers.
Everyone today really does their homework when shopping for cars. Then when they find the best deals thats where they go to buy. When you find deals that are $2,000 better or $1,500 better on the same vehicle, I don’t think you can ask for another $500 or $1,000 off when you are looking at the same vehicle elswhere for more money. This is what frustrates dealers. Long story short, our family will continue going there and we live in Pittsburgh where there are dealers all around us. The deals just aren’t there folks!
