First of all, go to the Better Business Bureau where you’ll discover, they don’t deal with any complaints. I wished I would have done that in the first place!
I bought a used vehicle from Bob Wolfe @ Napleton to be exported into Canada. I had to wait an extra 2 days (6 1/2 hr drive away from home) for the vehicle & as a result lost 2 days of work without pay. The vehicle was not delivered to the place it was promised, rather a 4 hour drive away from where we were staying. No apology for this, it’s just where it was delivered to. I had to get on the phone with the transport company and arrange for transport to the city it was orignally supposed to be deivered to (amounted to a lot of long distance calls from my hotel room).
When I discussed this with Bob, he says I had unrealistic expectations for vehicle delivery. It was him though that offered to “arrange transport”, had a guy on “standby” and would have the car picked up on Saturday April 18th. I held up my end of the bargain & had the money wired by Friday the 17th, but as soon as the money was received, all promises were magically forgotten and I became “unrealistic.
We finally got the car, and were so happy to be on our way. This is not the first time I have exported a vehicle into Canada, and had instructed Bob with the paperwork that was needed to do so. When we reached the border, we discovered that the original title to the vehicle was not included with the paperwork. Without this, I could not bring the vehicle into Canada. I could not leave the vehicle at the border, and was forced to leave the vehicle at a pub/duty free shop.
After this ordeal, we arrived home @ 0230 in the morning without the car. Napleton had it Fed Ex’d to Calgary, Alberta. On Saturday Apri 26th, I had to leave work early, again without pay, to make it to the Fed Ex office before it closed, and proceeded to drive back to the Border to pick up the car. 6 1/2 hours later we reach the border. FINALLY THE STRESS IS OVER!
I went into the Canada Customs to pay the Tax & Duty on the vehicle, when I realized that Bob had included the cost of the transport into the price of the vehicle. So I had to pay Tax & Duty on an extra $1000 US, which was not the value of the car. Thank you again Bob!
The advertisement for the car stated it had passed their 80 point inspection and had newer brakes. We took it for an inspection in order to have it registered in Canada, and were handed a bill for over $550 for work that needed to be done before it could be registered ( machining on the brake rotors, wheel bearing replacement, & wheel alignment-things that should have been noticed in an 80 point inspection). So now I am broke with missing 2 days without pay, an extra 2 days in a hotel away from home, extra costs for fuel to drive 13 hours roundtrip to go back to pick up the car, extra duty & tax, AND NOW I HAVE TO COME UP WITH AN EXTRA $550 TO HAVE THE CAR REGISTERED!! You’ve got to be kidding me!
I phoned the dealership and spoke to Bob Wolfe, Patrick Douglas, & Bruno. I ased if I could be reimbursed for some of these costs-NO! Bob told me he had the 80 point inspection- I asked to have it e-mailed or faxed to me- the ANSWER WAS NOT
My parents & I have both bought bank-repo’d vehicles at auctions- which a person would think would be pretty risky. NEITHER OF US HAD ANY OF THE PROBLEMS THAT I ENCOUNTERED DEALING WITH A DEALERSHIP THAT HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS SINCLE 1931 AND SUPPOSEDLY PRIDES ITSELF IN CUSTOMER SERVICE. NEITHER OF US HAD TO HAVE ANY WORK DONE ON THE VEHICLES TO HAVE THEM REGISTERED EITHER!
Besides the sarcasm & rude remarks I have received from Bob, Patrick Douglas & Bruno were of no help either, sometimes hanging up on me. I truly regret the day I ever contacted Napleton, and would tell people that if a deal seems to good to be true, it usually is!
