On Saturday Oct 8, 2011 my wife and I looked at four used vehicles at Cherry Creek Dodge on S Havana. Our initial contact with Sean was open and helpful but after that it was constant pressure to commit to buy from his manager, Cory. We were never given the sales price until they had all information to run a credit report, and then they were evasive about price. Finally a price of $17,999.00 for a 1996 Chevy Trailblazer with 74,000 miles was given. We were then asked what we were thinking and I estimated $15,000 might be a fair price without having in looked up Blue Book value. They agreed to that but only after offering $2,000 for out trade and deducting an additional $2400 cash and even that total being deducted from the original price of $17,999 which still left the price unchanged. They then, after my request, changed the price to $15,000 with no trade. All this time they pushed for a same day commitment to buy and a total reluctance to have my mechanic check the vehicle prior to a commitment to buy. I left saying I would call back on Monday. I did check the Blue Book value and discovered the dealer price should be between $13,800 and $14,200 which of course made their initial price of $17,999 between 3,800 and $4,200 too high, and even even their final offer, after haggling, of $15,000 still to high for this vehicle. The experience became extremely time consuming, exhausting and at best unpleasant, and I will be calling them back on Monday as promised, but only to say I will not be purchasing that or any vehicle form their dealership. They are the epitome of the fabled “used car salesmen”.
A followup to my comment: Prior to our visit to Cherry Creek Dodge we had not checked out their website. I just looked and the same Trailblazer was listed at $13,988! This apparently only ads proof of their deceptive practices.
