I bought a new Jeep Patriot from Larson Dodge and that will be my last purchase from this dealership…ever. The sales person was nice enough, however, the whole process took over 4 hours. I was asked to wait and told that the financing manager would be with me in 20 minutes. 90 MINUTES LATER, somebody finally comes to the waiting area and is surprised that I am there. 20 minutes later, the finance manager is finally ready to see me.
I told her, up front, to not offer me any kind of extended warranty or sell me anything extra. I know the drill and, since I am a Master Auto Tech, I can do all the work myself, as I do not trust dealer techs since my shop is always repairing the screw ups the dealers make in our area.
She continued on to try to sell me stuff. After I said no to everything, she wasn’t happy and nice anymore. Her attitude changed, was still pleasant, but much different mood.
I was suppose to have a remote start installed, rear entertainment system installed and back up camera. The sales person told me that somebody would contact me within 48 hours to set everything up.
4 days later, I had to call and the service adviser was not a pleasant person to deal with.
She kept giving me the run around about having the rear entertainment system installed as well as the backup camera. This work was being done at Car Toys.
SO, I called Car Toys myself, and the fleet manager at Car Toys was AWESOME to deal with. I tell ya, Car Toys really took car of me and my wife and made that experience pleasant.
Car Toys had the work done, as promised, and everything was great with the work Car Toys did.
So, now comes the really fun part of dealing with having the remote starting system installed.
I called, in advance, to set up the appointment to have it installed. I was suppose to be called, but I ended up having to call.
Brought my Jeep in as I said I would and I got an email at 4pm in the afternoon telling me that my vehicle would not be done yet because a part had to be ordered.
NO FREAKING PHONE CALL?? So, I called and was told that the remote starting system was not in stock!!! What the heck?? They had a week to order it before my appointment time.
So, I came down to get my vehicle and witnessed another customer who was upset about a new dent in his vehicle that wasn’t there before and they had not called him when his vehicle was done. The service adviser acted like she could have cared less.
So, I finally spoke with another service adviser. He was much more pleasant to speak with and seemed apologetic to my situation. I asked to talk to the service manager and was told that he was not there.
The next day, I called and left a message for the service manager. I did not get a call back. During the whole process, I had called to leave numerous messages for my salesperson to call me. He NEVER called me back.
The day after that, I was finally able to talk with the service manager, explained my situation and he took control of the situation.
So, in the end, I was finally able to get everything taken care of. However, I should not have been the one to make all of the phone calls. If I didn’t, I would never had been called.
Since then, I have spoken with a lot of other people who had bought vehicles from Larson Dodge and their experience was very similar.
They claimed to be a 5 star dealer, which I believe is a total BS system. We could call our shop a 25 star repair shop, but that doesn’t mean we are. However, our customers are treated with a lot of respect, always called when their cars are done, called when their parts arrive to set up appointments and we are ALWAYS done sooner with their repairs then the time promised out.
I’ve been in this business for 30 years, service managing for 15 of it. I had never experience very poor service that I got at Larson Dodge before. And I hope to never experience it again.
I bought 2 vehicles from here and have had nothing but awful awful customer service!!! I no longer live in town so I guess I can just be ignored. I call 2-3 times per week and leave a message with the dealership and they never return my calls. No communication and no check. If I owed them $3000 for over 4 months I am sure that they too would be upset? They owe me $3000 now for over 4 months for a vehicle that I sold and had an extended warranty on but sold during my first year of ownership!!! They said the check would take 6-10 weeks. It was my second dodge 3500 in 3 years because of replacing 3 engines and the 2nd vehicle was starting to already give me problems too. Josh the owner is a nice guy but his staff suck!!!!
