This dealership indulges in deceptive business practices. Do not do your repairs here as you will be be ripped of. Their multipoint inspections are a scam. Unnecessary repairs are undertaken to fleece the customer. Their 90 day service guarantees are a scam as they will find some excuse not to honor it.
I was at the parts counter and was confused on what I needed to do to retreive the original factory keyless code number and how to go about buying another key & key fob and having everything work. Scott McCann at the service dest overheard what I wanted and walked over to me and explained to me what I needed to do in a way that a normal person off the street could understand it. He set everything up for me with service on the spott and I left there a very happy person. Scott could have continued to do his work that day at his dest but choose to go out of his way to help a customer. Scott at Hoffman Ford is a dedicated employee and I was very appreciative by his act.
To start with, I missed my first appt and so I made another. Then out of the clear blue I get a call from Pat, the service guy, who makes a statement like, “So you’re the one who keeps making appointments but never keeps them.” Apparently he was under the impression that I was to show up on the 6th instead of the 13th. I grabbed my day planner and confirmed my appointment was for the 13th.
Once there, I confirmed again with Pat what work was to be done. Namely, two things: an oil change and a state inspection, both of which I had expired coupons for but he said he would honor them none the less.
When it came time to pay the bill, he called me forward and showed me a sum of about $335! He told me I needed 2 tires. I argued the point and he let it go, taking the tires off the list. He did however tell me that I had a rear light bulb out which was strange because I had just replaced them about 4 months prior and I needed 3 wipers which I had just replaced 2 months prior. He told me that if he couldn’t perform the taillight and wiper blade installs then he couldn’t give me the inspection sticker.
When I got to the cashiers window I found the total had dropped to $119.58. I paid it and left. It seems to me that having a coupon for a $9.99 oil change and a state inspection for around $40 should never have generated a bill for $119.58. Wow, I said to myself, those windshield wipers must be made of gold.
In closing, I just want to say that even though I’m aware that service advisors sometimes try to add on parts and service that the average person may not need at that time, I’m not made of gold and as such will never return to a place where I feel I was blatantly ripped off.
🙁 Did not find that my experience with this dealership was very good. Couldn’t recommend them to anyone because I would not buy anything from them.
