Purchased a new car from Hall Chevrolet. I told the sales representative I did not want any add ones such as extended warrentees and undercoatings, etc. When we went in to work out the financing I was told I had to look at a film which showed all the wonderful extras I had to buy. I told the finance person I did not want any of it, just finance the car! He continued to try to talk me into the warrentee. finally he gave up and worked up the financing. I asked if he checked with my bank and he said yes, but he got a better deal with Ally at 3.99% – even we discussed a 3.9% rate (an online back owned by Chevrolet). So I signed my contract and drove my new car home. Once at home I looked again at the contract and much to my surprise he had added $5,000 for the extended warrentee. I went back the next day and again to complain and I again had to sit around listening to the finance officer tell me he added it because it was the “best thing for me”. The sales manager tried to force me to keep it. Finally, after threaten them with a law suit they told me the deal had already gone though and they could only turn in the paper work and it would take a month for me to get a credit. During that month I went to my bank and found out the going rate was 2.9%. I switched the loan without paying a single payment to Ally. I hope they did not pay the commission to the finance officer!
Purchased a corvette from Hall. vehicle had 27,000 miles on it. Confirmed with the salesman that the car had run-flat tires on it. I have another vehicle with run flat tires and know as a fact they last 25,000 to 30,000 miles. Offered the dealership a price with the caveat that all four tires get replaced. They agreed. When delivered my wife asked for the warranty on the tires. The salesman did not provide saying we had to buy an extended warranty instead. Asked if all tires were replaced, the dealer said yes.
Less than 2000 miles later the rear tires were worn past the wear bar. The wear was on the center of the tire , the car body makes it hard to see unless the tire is removed. We discovered this when the low air pressure warning came on and we took it to a reputable service center.
We have raised this issue up to the general manager and were told “no one remembers making that deal”. Our fault for not getting it in writing and trusting them for their word. So much for their “no strings gurantee!” Won’t be seeing me or any of my extended network of friends, family, neighbors or aquantainces ever agian.
I came into the dealership on 9/17 to apply for the auto loan. Carrie didn’t return any of my calls so I decided to go back into the dealership on Saturday 9/11. I ended up speaking with Tracy the Internet Sales Manager he told me I was approved I just needed to come in on Tuesday 9/14 and bring my downpayment. So on 9/14 I receive a phone finally from Carrie stating that I wasn’t approved and she doesn’t know what Tracy is talking about. So confused I went to the dealership to speak with Tracy to find out what he was talking about. He just said “oh I thought I seen that in your file”. Then proceeded to help other customers while I waited over an hour to discuss the issue.
