Welcome to Hajek Chevrolet!
Way back in 1951 Oscar and Rose Hajek moved their family and their dreams from Detroit to Longmont, CO to begin what is now Hajek Chevrolet. Oscar had been with Chevrolet Motor Division in Detroit, but wanted a better place to raise his family, so when Mr. Troxell’s Chevrolet dealership came up for sale, he saw his opportunity.

Saw 2 adds of theres on Craigslist. Tried to call to find out some info on them. Never got through…they dont give a option to reach the sales department only for service, parts and operator. Pushed operator went straight to the same message, pushed again .. same response..ok screw it pushed the button for service..waited for about 60 seconds..no answer..guess what…went right back to the same original message..either they dont want to sell these vehicles or they are a worthless dealership (I assume the latter of these) Good luck to anyone trying to contact them.
They had a truck that was very close to what I had been looking for, and the price was right. I met with Bob (who was the only decent person I dealt with there) who treated very poorly by the sales manager, Lenny. right in front of me he belittled his sales staff for not having vehicle information at hand. Not cool, but I didn’t think too much of it. On the test drive I made a point of asking the sales man (not bob) to get me a carfax when we get back. Once we got back we looked at the price and again I asked for a carfax. Lenny ran off to get it while I went over the numbers some more (which is very distracting as anyone who has ever done it will tell you). I didn’t get the carfax, and asked again for it, and again was distracted by the price of the truck. By no means was I pushy about getting the report, I was forgot about it and assumed they had done the same, not a problem at all. By the end of the day I had asked for the carfax three times and had not gotten it (although, admittedly, I had forgot all about it getting amongst all the other stuff going on) I signed the final paperwork and was out the door. On my way home I started to notice a smell, a subtle but foul smell. By the next day this smell was vile, and I promptly took the car back. The sales manager had not signed his portion of the paperwork, making it invalid, and giving me every right to not complete the purchase. I went to Lenny, told him about my problem with the truck and how I wanted to handle it. He laughed and took me outside to threaten me with legal action if I didn’t complete the purchase. Highly unprofessional; a simple explanation would have sufficed. I’m not a lawyer, and didn’t have the time or means of transportation at this point to consult legal council, so I let him “fix” the smell, and I took the truck. This time around I made a point of getting a carfax report. They don’t do carfax, but they have some other report which they say is better. fine. One of the sales men gets it and reads it to me, everything checks out and it’s a clean report. Or so I was told. A few weeks go by, the smell is still there. I come across the history report and look it over and notice something. the car had been in an accident! Not only was I not informed of this, they knowingly hid it from me. Why didn’t they show it to me when I asked the first 3 times I asked? Did they space it out or choose to distract me knowing an accident would be the deal breaker? I have my opinion…
I tried to buy a car from Hajek Chevrolet, and met with problems at every point. I have never had such a terrible experience trying to negotiate a sale. The salesperson changed her story, increased the price, didn’t follow through with her promises, wouldn’t give me a formal quote in writing, concealed fees from me, and in the end, sold the car out from under me after promising not to do so – and not even notifying me of the sale, leaving me to pay an outside mechanic who showed up ready to inspect a car that was no longer there. I don’t know if it can be blamed on her inexperience or the dealer’s sales practices, but I would avoid this dealership at all costs.
My Catera was randomly not starting but after a jump it fired right up. I brought my Catera to Hajek on June 29. After a diagnostic was run I was told the alternator was bad. I agreed to have it replaced for almost $600.00.
On July 14, the car again would not start. We did some investigation and found that the alternator was not putting out enough amps. We called the Service Department on July 15 and asked to bring it in on Friday, July 16 or Saturday, July 17 and were told we could not come in until Monday. Friday, July 16 we had the Catera waiting for the service department to open at 7:30am. We were told by the Service Manager Dave that we would not be charged for the diagnostic this time. Mid-afternoon we received a call saying that after three attempts they could not duplicate the problem. We retrieved the car and immediately made an appointment with a different dealership on Monday. After 2 hours I received a call that the weld on a cable running between the battery and the alternator was not properly connected.
This told us that there was no investigation of the problem by Hajek and that they simply ran diagnostics. When my husband returned to Hajek’s service department and advised of this problem he was told that it was impossible to diagnose the problem in such a short time. Service Manager Dave was adamant that the alternator was bad when we first brought the car to Hajek and that we got what we paid for.
We sure did get a new alternator, but did we need it? We will never know because Hajek did not do a thorough investigation and Service Manager Dave’s attitude was nasty to say the least.
The actual repair of our original problem seems to have been done correctly, however the following review has been submitted to Tom Martino due to a problem with Hajek Chevrolet that occured during the repair.
My sister, Carolyn Thompson and I are from Missouri and have been visiting in Longmont for the past week. Her 2009 Chevy HHR was towed to Hajek Chevrolet by Hamilton Towing on Monday, June 21, 2010, after we had an accident on a mountain road near Gold Hill. When the tow truck driver was unable to find the key drop box at Hajek, he locked the key inside the car. The next morning, Lance Bailey from Hajek told us that the key was locked in the car and that he was calling Hamilton to ask about it. Hamilton towing has informed us they offered to drive by Hajek immediately that morning to unlock the car, and they were told not to do that. We were told by Lance that they had to make a new key and that we would be charged $56. My sister has Onstar and a sticker on the window of the car which would also have let them know that a new key did not need to be made. The car was repaired by Wednesday afternoon. When we picked it up, we discussed the key situation with Lance and he insisted that it was our responsibility to pay for it, which we did. The next morning, when we went to Hamilton Towing to talk to them about the key situation, we were told that they had offered to unlock it early Tuesday morning and that Hajek declined their offer. We were not told about this by Hajek and they actually maintained that they had no other choice than to make a new key. When the office manager of Hamilton reported to us that when she called Hajek to try to work out a resolution, she was told that we asked Hajek to make the key. This was not true. She also said that she was treated very rudely by Mr. Hajek and that he was not willing to work with her. Hamilton Towing has very generously reimbursed us the price of the key.
The other, more upsetting situation, is this: When we picked up the car, we found that there was a scratch in the paint and a slight dent on the driver’s side door. (This is a new car that has been very well cared for and there were no scratches prior to this situation.) When we returned to the service department to report this, Lance told us that there was nothing they could do about it, and that it might have been done when the car was towed. At that point, Greg Deluz, the service manager began yelling at us for “accusing them” of scratching the car. His behavior was extremely unprofessional and rude. He spoke to us in a very loud, offensive voice for several minutes and stated several times that they had washed the car for us and now I was accusing him of scratching the car. My sister and I left very offended by his behavior. When the towing company looked at the scratch, they were very professional and not at all defensive, but stated that the scratch could not have resulted from the towing and that it looks like a dent from another car door hitting ours. The office manager also took a picture of the scratch, and showed it to the driver who had towed the car. He stated that he was sure the scratch was not there when he left it Monday night. It was explained to us that when there is a scratch like this, the driver will make a note of it to make sure the owner realizes it was there prior to towing. My sister will now be out at least $250 for a repair that apparently resulted from the car’s treatment while in the care of Hajek.
We have met many friendly accomodating people in Longmont while we have been here to care for a relative following surgery. But the behavior displayed at Hajek Chevrolet regarding the key and the scratch on the door was inexcusable. I will be writing reviews on your Longmont business page to express how upset we were by the treatment we received at Hajek and how well we were treated by Hamilton Towing while visiting here.
:mad::mad::mad:WATCH OUT!!! :mad::mad::mad:
I took my car in to get serviced at Hajek Chevrolet (otherwise know as Hi-Jack). I was hearing a growling/grinding sound under or in the steering. They checked it out and said that I needed a new control arm and bushing on my front left wheel because the bushing was wearing out and light was shining through. ($500 for this job) They also said I needed a new baring and hub assembly because my wheel was “loose.” ($478 for this job)
Thankfully, before I had them do the work, I took it to local mechanic that won my trust right away. They put my car up on the rack for free to check out what Hajek was saying. (They had a hard time believing that with only 46,000 miles on the car, all of those things “were going out.” This mechanic, Stonum Automotive, brought me back to the car while it was on the rack and proved to me that the car needed NONE of this work that Hajek said I needed. There was NO light showing through in the bushing, the control arm was in great shape, and the wheel was as tight as could be!!! Stonum saved me $1,000 in unnecessary work.
BEFORE YOU GET WORK DONE AT HAJEK CHEVROLET, MAKE SURE TO GET A SECOND OPINION!!!
