Beware of servicing your Volvo at this dealership!
I’d been using Gunther’s service department for VW for the past eight years and was always happy with their service, transparency and rates. Now that they’ve bought the Volvo franchise things have changed. They charge a $177 diagnostic fee ON TOP of $177 per hour when you do the work. NO OTHER Volvo dealer charges that hourly rate and ALL THE OTHER DEALERS WAIVE the diagnostic fee when you do the work with them (and this fee was always waived when they only have VW)!
I wasn’t even told about the EXTRA $177 fee until two hours after I agreed to do the recommended work.
I wrote to the GM on Monday and didn’t even get the courtesy of a return call or email.
BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. RIPOFF RATES!
Hold tight to your wallet.
Set up the entire deal via e-mail and a phone call or two. I told them what I wanted to pay for a car they had in stock. Apparently, I should have asked for a lower price, but I was very happy.
All paperwork was ready when I came to the dealership from the west coast. Easiest car buying experience I ever had.
Go somewhere else. They do not know what they are doing. They lied and when I called to complain they were rude and the asnwer was that the sales person and finance person that sold me the car were fired…. Keep looking and you will find MANY fraud and bad reviews for this dealership. I wish Iwould have gone somewhere else. I even called VW directly and they said there was nothing they could do……… I trusted them and it cost me, don’t make the same mistake.
First off this review was not verified by crojas which kills the credibility.
This one is simple I don’t see the complaint. What’s the problem? There is mis information as well since Ken Dotti was one of our better sales persons and gave notice and took another job out of state.
The Gunther Motor Company does everything it can to help customers with problems but they must be reasonable. Legitimate problems are handled with respect and we have a happy customer. Happy customers rarely bother writing reviews.
I answered the rankings;
0 on pricing because I was taken as a fool
2 on greeting because even though it turned out to be insinscere I was greeted nicely
0 on honesty, wish I could give less on this ranking
0 on consideration of my time as they wanted me to come back so maybe steve could sell me another car, (i didn’t want another car!!)
3 the highest ranking because at least they were honest and told me I was taken
0 on fulfilled promises as I was lead to believe that a clean carfax meant no accidents, THIS IS NOT TRUE buyer beware here!!!
0 on financing, didn’t use them, but I’m sure I would have gotten a raw deal based on myexperience
2 on how I was treated, they smiled and told me I was taken and I really didn’t have an option, I should have had an expert look the car over
I was sold a 2006 GLI which was presented to me with a CLEAN carfax and is a certified “pre-loved” program.
I just recently found out, after an insurance claim, that the car had been in a previous accident and had the entire rear re-painted and it was a shoddy job.
Not being an expert, I didn’t notice these things until they were pointed out to me by the body shop estimator.
So I went back to Gunther where they basically told me, “you should have noticed and you got a good deal, what are you bitchin about and we suggest that everyone take these car and have them inspected”….”come back and talk to steve, maybe he will help”….why would I come back to these guys???
Now I have a car that I neg the price thinking it was a clean carfax and under the pre-loved program…..and I will be lucky to get what I owe back on it!
All I can say is “BEWARE” when dealing with Gunthers used car’s…..
I got taken, so now you don’t have to, BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT BUYING A USED CAR FROM GUNTHER!!!

Body shops are known to over exaggerate and place as much fluff into a sale as they can. I never read any mention of a report of frame damage. All our cars are inspected for frame and sludge. Cars cannot be certified by volkswagen if they have frame damage.
A Carfax sometime take months to update and never update if a person does not file an accident report or does the work themselves. A carfax is much better than not having one but certainly not a 100%. We do not control what content gets reported to carfax aside from our own sales and service information.

My experience with Coconut Creek Volkswagen was not a pretty on either. I purchased a certified pre-owned 2002 Beetle from one of their salesman by the name of Larry Stein. The car had problems shortly after purchasing it (it would be too lengthy to list all the problems) but luckily it had a little left on the warranty (would have cost us a fortune if not). After having the car for three years my husband and I decided it was time for a new car. After finding a car that we liked and planned to purchase the new dealership wanted to do an appraisal on our VW Beetle. We had planned to use it as a trade in and expected them to appraise the car high enough to pay off the remaining balance of our loan and give us a couple of hundred above that to add to our down payment…wrong’o!!!! Instead they told us that the vehicle’s Carfax report shows that prior to us purchasing the car it had been involved in an accident (a fact that Larry neglected to mention) and the car is worthless! How can it be a “certified pre-owned” car when it was a damaged car that they were selling. We assumed that since the car was certified, that meant it was as good as new. Big mistake, we’ve learned our lesson. Larry knew this fact and failed to mention it. It’s a slimy, deceitful way to do business. I thought that Coconut Creek VW was a reputable dealership but you could probably do better at a buy-here-pay-here lot. After finding all this out I emailed him to confirm that he was, in fact, the guy that sold us the car. Sure enough, this was the guy. This was the guy that shook our hand and looked us right in the eyes and lied to us. Then after receiving the email he wanted me to come in and purchase another car from him…shame on you Larry and shame on Coconut Creek Volkswagen. Whatever you do, DON’T BUY A CAR FROM A GUY NAMED LARRY OR FROM COCONUT CREEK VW…THEY ARE THIEVES!!!!!
Pam, we are sorry you are unhappy and do appreciate your business. I’m sure when your beetle was under warranty our dealership did everything it could to correct the problems. Apparently you got some relatively good use out of a car that is almost eight years old.

Our sales person would never have known what was not on the carfax. Also a sales person not a mechanic or body shop guy. We trust that our service department does their job and being in business over 40 years we pretty much get it right.
