this was the best car buying experience i have ever had. Taj was extremely welcoming and helpful in the selection of the 3 hondas I purchased. His pleasant manner and knowledge of what are needs were right on.I wouldip not hesitate to recommend this dealership to anyone.
First of all, read this link:http://www.ag.ny.gov/press-release/ag-schneiderman-announces-settlement-atlantic-auto-group-over-misleading-advertising
Do not trust this deceptive dealership. I myself, had a very troubling experience with Atlantic Honda in September of this year. Here are some of the highlights of what had transpired: “Senior” sales consultant, Larry Ellis, & sales manager, Rich Lobraico, dared to try and REALLY pressure me into buying a car I was interested in. It was a black 2008 Honda CRV EX-L. They were beyond condescending and downright rude, and this is coming from a person who is very understanding and never writes negative reviews. When I first sat down, I told Mr. Ellis that I’m wary of car dealerships, as I had just come from a couple of untrustworthy dealers. I thought he would be understanding of my concern. Well, was I wrong! Mr. Ellis went as far as telling me that statistically, car buyers take much less time to buy a car than the time I’ve spent to find one. It was more of a criticism really, especially since he never stopped harping on it. First of all, why should I care? How is it even any of his business? It’s quite apparent that he was pushing me to leave with a car that day. I had spent only a week and a half looking at cars online and just a few days physically going down to dealerships prior to coming to Atlantic Honda. Does that seem like an excessive amount of time to look for a car, a car which I do not need right away since I still have my current car to drive? Throughout the one and a half to two hours I was there, Mr. Ellis kept emphasizing that I should go with a certified pre-owned car, instead of one that was not certified. I explained to him over and over again, that I did not need to spend a couple of thousand more for a certified car, as my close friend is a great mechanic. He would NOT stop badgering me on how that was an unwise decision, completely ignoring my wishes. I had told him that I was not interested in a car with a back-up camera. I find that people who rely only on a back-up camera are more likely to get into an accident or run over somebody than looking behind themselves. He even tried using scare tactics by “scolding” me, telling me that I could very well run over a small child without a back-up camera! I know this sounds unbelievable, but this came straight out of his mouth. He was really pressuring me to buy that car that night, though he never told me what he would sell the car for. We were just going round in circles. I should have gotten up and left immediately but at the time, I was still thinking of buying the car, even though I didn’t really trust him or Mr. Lobraico. He actually asked me several times why it is that I did not trust him? Is it just me or isn’t that just simply unprofessional? Besides, after I prefaced our conversation with the bad experiences I had, you’d think he’d understand why. I told him that I needed to think about buying it, that I wouldn’t just buy it the moment I saw it and that I never make big purchases right away. So, after spending all of that time there, I left it with him that there was another car I was interested in at a different dealership and that I would come back to test drive the car the next day, after I’ve looked at the other car, or if I decided on the other car, I’d let him know. (Which is more than he deserved from me.) After I fell in love with the other car at the other dealership, a dealership that treated me with the respect I deserved, I called Mr. Ellis. He called me out, saying I lied to him about buying a car right away because that is what I had just done. How dare he?! He was so very angry with me; he acted as if I had bruised his ego, or like a little child who didn’t get his way. He then said he’d match the price if I came back to “do business” with him. Well, those words basically summed up what he’s all about. I wasn’t looking to “do business.” I was looking for a trustworthy person looking out for my best interest, not a sleazy car salesman.
We could not get Larry to give us a price on a new CR-V on the sales floor. After almost 3 hours I put a price on the paper Larry had to start the process. Larry took the paper to the “Desk” and returned with a woman. We expected a counteroffer but what happened shocked us. The woman tossed the paper on the desk and said “come back when your serious” and they both walked away. We left and went to City Honda on 24 in Levettown and spoke to Bruce and bought the same car. Never go to Atlantic Honda!!!!
You have got to share your story on more review sites. I had a horrific experience with Larry Ellis and the sales manager there, and on every site, I see mostly wonderful reviews! I am shocked. More people need to write about how horrible they are.
I dont recommand this dealer! They are not straight forward with you. I was looking for a pre-owned car a day before thanksgiving, Allan assured me that i will get the car that i wanted. 2010 Honda Pilot. He said my credit wasnt too good but he will try to see who could approve me! Now he wasnt calling me notify me how the preocess was going. They ran my credit through a bunch of banks to get me approved without me knowing!!!!! I knew about this when i went to Huntington Honda! (Where i got approved and drove of with a car!!! :-))They ruined my credit even more!!! I had given them. $100 deposit CASH to hold the car. It took a week to get my refund!!! Really upset with the service and attention!!! They basically dont know what they are doing, dont advise the customers of how the process is goin! I had to be calling to find out what was going on with my loan! Dont go here!!!
Belinda was an awesome salesperson to work with. She answered all my question and made sure that my trade in received top dollar. She even smoothed out a snag in finance–going above and beyond the call of duty on that one. I went from driving in on a whim to leaving with a new car on the same day.
We shopped an other Honda Dealer before going to Atlantic. We made a slightly better deal with Atlantic and although it wasnt to write home about we were happy. After we were approved and had signed our lease agreement and made our down paymnet, one of thier “General Sales Managers” informed the salesman to tell us the deal is off and they werent making enough money. This is after two trips tpo the dealer, taking my money, allowing me to sign a lease contract and shaking our hands. They than proceeded to tell us that they could not refund the money they just took until their main office processed it. Well after 45 seconds of screaming like a lunatic in thier showroom they quickly processed my refund. This was the shadiest, most dishonest car buying experiance I have had. I recomend you shop somewhere else with executive staff that value thier customers. I wouldn’t recomend Atlantic to an enemy. Less than two hours after this or deal we had made an even better deal with a Honda dealer that was happy to have us for cuctomers. Run away from this dealer with your money in your pocket!
Typical,I’m actually putting in a complaint to the better business bureau. The sales guy fredis was the nicest guy in the world when he wanted to sell me a minivan…but when I asked him to help me with an issue I had with the vehicle I purchased, he was not interested. anyway I bought a 2008 Honda odysey with 19,000 miles for 22,000 dollars,..the lower dx model. i was hoping to get a good vehicle to travel with my family but instead I got a lemon that started making loud clunking noises within the first couple of months of the purchase.till this day with 30k miles I am still bringing it to the Atlantic Honda in bay shore were they still haven’t fixed the problem…they said the issue is in the steering column….I’m afraid one day I will loose steering while I’m with my family in the car and I lose control…..I’m so upset abut this situation already I’m paying for a death trap…..
In a nutshell, gave a deposit for my new 2010 CRV on Sunday, August 15th, 2010 and advised Sales that I would pick up my car on Thursday, August 19th. Unfortunately, I had to wait nearly 4 hours to complete the sale.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, 9 days later my brand new car has an oil leak
that damaged my newly paved driveway.
Now that the sale is complete, no one wants to help.
My advice to anyone looking to do business with Atlantic Honda is “RUN TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!!!!!”
I wish I had read the reviews above, prior to closing a sale with this dealership.
You’ve been warned!
Disappointed and regretful in LI. 😡
Walked into the dealer with one of their ads. The ad stated “lease a 2010 Honda Accord LXP for 174.00/mo. $0 money down except, taxes, tags, fees totaling 1,375. I asked for sign and drive deal working the upfront money into my monthly payment. However I would pay the tags (DMV fees up front) This should have made the payment 227.00 per month.
Breakdown
Taxes – 174 per month X 36 months = 6,264.00. The tax at 8.625% equals – 540.27 or 15 dollars per month.
New Total = 189 per month.
Fees – 1,375 rolled into 36 payments = 38.00
New total = 227.00 per month.
The quote I received – 298.00 per month (71.00 MORE THAN THE AD PRICE)
When I test drove the car (even though I told them 7 times I didn’t need to because I drove it 2x already) I explaned to my sales rep (Ali) I did not want to play the typical games, he assured me his dealership was different and that i would get the ad price. I showed the ad and asked for nothing more than what was stated in the ad. Same as breakdown above. We picked out a car and he went to work the numbers. While I was there, the sales manager called a meeting and EVERY sales rep left the floor. With customers, including myself sitting there. After their meeting Ali, came back with a price of 298.00. Ha ha. Ok, so I understand this is business, I will play the game. I ask can you please show me the breakdown on how you came to that price. He calls the sales manager over who was INCREDIBLY rude. He obviously could care less about my business and made it quite clear as he rolled his eyes about to show me how he came to this price. After some BS, he finally showed me on his computer how he came to the price. After quickly punching in numbers so I could not see and adding numbers NOT mentioned in the ad, he came up with a price of 247.00 per month. So I ask, why did you quote me 298.00? He said…”Oh we quoted you for 15,000 mile lease.” So I ask, why would you do that when I asked for 12k? At the same time Ali (salesman) came back, so i asked him… Ali, how many miles is included in this lease price? Ali and the sales manger BOTH answer 12K. Hahahaha He just told me 15K. SCAMMERS, LIARS!!! The story and back peddling goes on, and the sales manager continues to contradict himself, but I think you see my point. STAY AWAY!!!
sorry for the long reply!
THIS GUY JUST LIE TO ME FROM THE BEGGING I WENT TO THE DEALER TO PURCHASE I ENDED LEASING OFFER ME A GREAT DEAL ACCORDING TO HIM WAS A RIP OFFMY PAYMENT ON A LEASE ARE 479.00 MONTH FOR 36 MONTHS =17.244 PLUS 1939.00 FOR TAXES AND OTHER CHARGES THAT HE DIDN’T SAID,GAVE HIM 5000 THOUSAND TOWARDS MY 17.244 INSTEAD HE USED FOR SIGNING LEASE I DONT KNOW WHY BECASE I LEASE BEFORE WITH NO DOWN PAYMENT ,ANY WAY BY THE TIME MY LEASE IS DONE IN APRIL 2011.I HAD PAY 24.180 TO RETURNT THE CAR BECAUSE THE REMAIN RESIDUE WILL BE 13.997 SO IF I WAS TO BUYOUT I WILL PAY FOR THIS 40.000 DOLLARS AND MAYBE MORE. VERY SAD WHAT HAPPEN TO ME BUT GUESS WHAT I REPORT THEM TO CONSUMERS AFFAIRS AN I M PERSUING A SUIT AGAIN THEM.
I purchased a pre-certified 2007 Honda Civic SI from a local dealership on 12/26/08. No accidents were disclosed. Took the car home and my mechanic noticed that the driver’s side door was misaligned and was repaired poorly (hollow sound and scraping the bottom of the door sill).
Took it back to the dealership and complained about it. A $200 dollar refund was given to me to realigned the door. When asked about the paint, the service manager told me to just put some touch up paint on.
Fast forward a couple of months later. The paint on the door started to bubble up and rust. Took it back to the dealership and was told, without an inspection, by the pre-own manager to see his friend’s body shop as they will give me a discount on the work. I told him that it was a precertified car and now it’s rusting. He then replied that he is over his monthly budget and can’t spend more money on this.
I called Honda of America and filed an official complaint against the dealership. Honda couldn’t get the dealership to reply to them. So they had my ccar dropped off at another dealership for the regional manager to check it out.
The conclusion was that this was not a Honda manufacture issue and that the pre-certified warranty doesn’t apply. The door skin was not applied correctly and is rusting thru the inside. The trunk was also replaced (no VIN) and now it’s also starting to rust.
Took the car to a reputable body shop and was told that the door skin needs to be replaced, which is more expensive than just replacing the door itself. The body shop told me that the door skin was missing the proper foam/adhesive and is RUSTING throughout. The trunk just needs to be reprimed.
The estimated damage is about $3200.
In addition, I was not provided with the 150 point checklist that ALL Honda certified cars should have.
Traded in my 2006 Civic (with 45,000 miles) for a 2008 Civic. The 2006 had 19 inch rims, but i told Atlantic i would give them the stock wheels and take back my 19’s. They agreed. During delivery of my 2008 i noticed 6 scratches on the roof. They stated they would repair, but they werent that bad and i thought i could wheel them out. When i returned to pick up my rims they stated the salesman was fired and they didnt know where my rims were. After numerous trips to the dealer the truth finally came out. The manager asks me “Do you know its a crime to lie on an odometer disclosure statement, your 06 has 65,000 miles on it”. Knowing something was up i asked to see my 06, which was on their lot. When i got to the car the odometer read 65,XXX. I could not believe my eyes!!! How did this happen? The answer was simple, someone switched it to kilometers. After i switched it back it read 45,XXX. The manager feeling like a fool told me he was very sorry, but the damage was already done. And guess what i saw rolling out from the parts department, thats right my 1200 dollars worth of rims…..their intention was to keep my rims due to the mileage discrepancy. Instead of being straight up with me they chose to play games (keep in mind im 35 years old im not a kid). The roof scratches were deeper than i thought but i chose to not have ATLANTIC touch my vehicle, i dont trust them.
Worst dealership experience ever. The sales guy was nice, but the sale manager was rude. After negotiating a price they tried to run through another $700 in fees. Once we agreed on a price we waited 4 hours to pay and have the paper work ready (4 hours!!!). The finance manager was rude telling us to wait while he was having Chinese food with his buddies. They did not accept my personal check even though I already gave 1/3 in cash. I had to write 3 checks. They treated me like sh***t, were rude, could not care less about me, everyone was giving us looks as they could not care less. They blamed me because during the negotiation I walked away and then came back, they were trying to get back at me for leaving by having me wait unnecessarily. While I was waiting some other customer complained, they wanted to leave but the dealership hold their drivers license and would not return it.
I still don’t have my title and hope that they will send it to me later once my checks clear. 1st time I have seen this, as usually dealers have the capability of verifying the funds with the bank.
I request all the reader to read this before going to Atlantic Honda show room (Bayshore NY). First of all their customer service s**ks.Once you make a deal the marketing guy adds all kind of extra charges(like Destination charge, Preparation charge, etc) to rip you off. Make sure you don’t fall for their tactics.say NO to all those charges. One more important thing… they ask you to sign a double contract(temporary contract) no matter what kind of financing you have (kind of Stupid). In my case I had a bankers check, since i bought my car on a weekend, they could not verify with the bank so they asked me to sign a temporary contract, ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? that is a fr***ng bankers check…….After 2 weeks from the day i bought my car, I asked them to return my temp contract, no response from them….they never answer your calls. today I am going to their dealership to find out.I request all of you to think twice before going to Atlantic honda. Thanks
