1 week after purchasing my car, the transmission went! They wanted to give me another car, only after it “passed a safety check”,They would not take the care back, needless to say, abritration is ongoing. i have no car, and a loan payment mnonthly!! The sales Manager told me that “he does not have to deal with me”! coming from a car salesman that says it all. TOTAL JERKS!!! THEY SELL LEMONS DO NOT BUY.
I took my car in for repairs. The convertible top did not go down. I
was quoted $500 for the repair and I did not feel that what they
thought was the problem was going to fix the issue. I specifically
stated that I did not want to spend more than $500 on that repair,
being an old car and all, and if they thought there were going to be
additional expenses, not to do the repair.
They assure me that this would fix it and gave me a written estimate.
After spending a week in the sop, I got a call from BMW that the car
was ready. I was just about to pay when I thought I should try it
first. So we went to the car and the first thing I noticed was a
puncture hole in the rear window (it is plastic). Of course, they told
me that they did not do it but I know there was no hole when I took
the car in. Next, we tried to lower the top and that did not work. You
would have thought that they’d try it before calling me. Anyway, I
have to wait another 3 days before I could talk to the manager, who
told me they will see what more was needed and give me a call. He
never called, so I did and was told that the car needed another $3100
to be fixed. That is strange because the whole roof can be bought
online for $650. So, I told them that there was mo way I was going to
pay that and we agreed that I pay for the parts they used and some
labor, which was $317.
So now I feel like I paid $317 for them to put a hole in my window and
the top still does not go down.
Although the staff is very peasant to talk to, my car is actually
worse than before I took it in.
I will not recommend that dealership.
Very poor way of doing business, will not return!
I made the horrible mistake of going to Girard to shop for a BMW. Ian, your typical used car shark was swimming around the parking lot when I arrived. He ignored and dismissed me when I told him what I was looking for and instead showed me a car that was way outside my price range. Whenever I tried to raise a question he would arrogantly dismiss me like I was a moron. Then to add to that during the test drive he went on and on about how rich he was and how he only sold cars for “fun”. After we went back he continued to lie and bullshit with the price. I knew they were trying to rip me off which was confirmed when I saw the car in the paper listed for $8000 less than what they were trying to sell it to me for. Don’t even waste your time with these criminals it’s not worth it.
Currently I have a boycott going for this dealership. They made many promises that in the end told me I was never promised. Took over a month to get all issues taken care of and still waiting for the last item I WAS told they were getting for me. Salesperson was crude and to touchy for my taste. I felt very uncomfortable being at this dealership. Definitely do not feel part of the Toyota family. First and last time ever buying a Toyota from anywhere.
AVOID GIRARD TOYOTA BMW AT ALL COSTS.
They do not follow through with what they originally commit to. They don’t call when they say they are going to. If you are not buying a $50,000 BMW then you take a backseat on their priority list.
Shady, VERY SHADY!!
Scott Macgregor took my deposit a MONTH ago on a Pacifica he was going to be taking in as a trade on a new car. Now. A month later Scott tells me that he hadn’t received this car as a trade – so there could be no sale to me! As I checked VIN’s on Carfax.com (this car Scott claimed wasn’t traded in for me to be able to buy) was listed on Carfax with information “provided” by Girard Toyota BMW as the new owner of the Pacifica that very same day! They waited to tell Carfax they owned the car until Girard had started my refund for my deposit of course! They had originally said they’d sell me this car at a very nice price & they must of found out later that “their” offered price to me was too low! Dishonest to the MAX! I have never had so many people lie to my face! If they had done the job correctly in the first place – there never would have been a question of anything!
Treatment was horrible! Spread the word and keep your eyes open for a 2004 Gold (Tan) Chrysler Pacifica that Girard in New London is not supposed to own! Carfax says otherwise so I think I know who to trust now. NOT GIRARD TOYOTA & SCOTT MACGREGOR
Well…It turns out “free speech” isn’t free and I’d hate to be threatened with a lawsuit for slander by this dealer (again)…So since I am unable to change the title of my posting I’d like to amend my original post and add new information that I learned today from another visit at this dealership.I brought my carfax report (back to the dealership) which says that the car in question can be found at their dealership & I asked them to explain how that could have happened? Was it really true? Had they “intended” to lie to me?They were adamant that they (Scott) had not intended or appeared to be dishonest with me. The sales manager and Scott himself did not understand why Carfax claims that this car “can be found” at their dealership. The only “logical” reason they can come up with is that since their dealership ran (and paid for) a Carfax report on the vehicle, that is why the car is showing up on Carfax’s “Hot Listings” as a car that “can be found” at their dealership. They say that they truly have NOT taken this car as a trade-in. They assured me that they “DO NOT HAVE IT”. Scott assured me that he had not intended for our deal to go so wrong.I’m left with having to only assume they were not out right lying to me after all. I’m glad for that & I apologize for calling Scott a “liar” in my title post.So I guess I can only apologize for my part ~ which would be for my choice of wording in my original post and maybe for assuming the worst from a person who (in my opinion) should have and could have been more up front with me from the beginning. My experience sure did have a downward spiraling effect.I wish I could tell you that I was treated better by everyone on my last visit to this dealership today… What I CAN tell you is that the Sales Manager made apologies and tried his best to help me – while trying to come up with a better explanation for how events could have been handled better by their staff. The sales manager left me with a much better feeling than when I entered the building. His manner was apologetic, helpful, & polite. I only wish every business person/car dealer treated people the same way there. If that were the case I would consider giving them another try the next time I am car shopping…Better luck to everybody else who decides to give them a try. I’d love to hear a better ending to a used car deal than mine. Help restore my faith a little I guess…
I ended up buying from the same sales and experienced the worst service. I paid my car in full but didn’t even get the title after seven months. Scott ignored my calls n emails, when I finally got to him he just hanged up on me. No one would help me from the dealership so I had to get the local DMV involved. I went thru a lot to get my car title finally…. Worst dealership.
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM GERALD’ BMW. THEY ARE REALLY SHITTY.THEY MESS WITH YOUR CAR SO YOU CAN COME BACK TO THEM FOR SERVICE.
IF YOU WERE TO BUY A BWM MAKE SURE THAT YOU WOULDNT BUY IT FROM THIS PPL AT GERALD BMW. AS A FACT NAME SOMETHING NEGATIVE…YOU WILL FIND IT THERE. WHILE THEY HAVE NO RESPECT FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY ARE ALSO GREEDY. I WORKED THERE FOR A WHILE AND SAW THE WAY THEY OPERATE AND I QUICKLY LEFT BECAUSE I CANT TREAT CUSTOMER LIKE THEY WANTED ME TO. LIES, LIES AND MORE LIES.
I WORKED THERE SO I KNOW AND I LEFT BECAUSE I CANT DEAL WITH MISCONDUCTING SALES AND MISTREATING CUSTOMERS.
This dealership has an F with the Better Business Bureau for a reason! DO NOT purchase from this dealership if you would like to be treated like a human being.
We were so disappointed with them the second we handed over the money. We were sold a lemon and called them out on it. They took back the car to “fix it” and had it for FOUR WEEKS! Its still not right…
Too much pressure, a LOT of false promises. They will pretty much say whatever they have to in order to sell you a car, but do not deliver on their promises.
When someone says to you,:( “You have my word, what else do you need?” You MAKE them put it in writing… Thank goodness we did! RED FLAG!!!!!!!!!!
I DIDN’T BELIEVE YOU UNTIL I WAS MISTREATRED MYSELF AND LIED TO.THESE GUYS ARE REALLY GOOD AT MAKING SURE YOU ARE UNSATISFIED. I CANT BELIEVE THEY ARE STILL AROUND.
WOW ..THANKS YOU
Bought a used 2004 330xi from here…..I know i overpayed for it……but in 2 years Ive had it Ive dumped over 6k in repairs after their picture perfect one over they did (inspection pre-owener certified my arse)…..was also lied to that it was not possibly in a collision after I noticed paint color was confliciting in an area after I was told it wasnt.
The place is shady and all they do is try to leech money off you. After spending bank was never approached or talked to again by sales. Only the typical “your car is due” to spend more money.
Service dept is nice but they seem to only want to work with the unknowing and the crazy spenders there (7 series plus)…even their online coupons are always listed expired.
This dealership is full of hacks. I have been to and brought from several BMW dealerships and this is by far the worst. The dealers are shared between Toyota and BMW, they treat people like they are nothing because they sit behind a desk at a BMW dealership….Guess what guys your aren’t the owners of the dealership, nor do you own any of the cars at the dealership….so get over it. If you want to run a professional dealership, be respectful to people that walk through the front door. Don’t treat them like, “just another customer”. DO NOT SHOP AT GIRARD BMW. On top of review, I am going to recommend the dealership to go to instead, as soon as I left Bmw of New London, I drove to BMW of Newport. Completely worth the extra drive. I drove away the same day with my 2011 BMW. Once again to do business with the “Scum Bags” in New London.
It was early on a Saturday afternoon, My wife and I are driving back from lunch and an idiot light goes on. I had the care serviced 1000 miles ago and do so regularly. Currently it is in the mid-20’s for miles. My wife reads the manual and it say’s: “get a dealer immediately.” My regular dealer is in Brookfield, CT near where I live. I called Girard Toyota and Dave Girard the Service Manager told me to come over, even though they were closing in less than an hour. His technicial comes out to my car with his computer and does a diagnostic. He doscovers the gas cap was not tight enough. These guys could not have been nicer and they didn’t know me and was aware I used another dealer across the state. Next time I will schedule my service work on a Saturday and have it done at Girard!
If you’re looking for a BMW go elsewhere. You will NOT get the service you would expect from a luxury car manufacturer. 🙁
Thanks lot. I WONT BUY FROM THEM
