Overall, this place is okay, sales & parts representatives are nice, but the service representatives are not so much. When I first walked in the service office, there were 5 people in there. Everybody looked busy, some of them saw me but didn’t say anything, so I decided to wait. I waited for about 5 minutes, no body said nothing to me, then, a customer came in, and talked to one of them, and they took care of the customer. I guess they don’t take care of customers unless the customer speaks up. When I visited next time, same thing happened. This time, everybody was on the phone, so I waited, then about 5 minutes later, 2 representatives got off their phones about same time, and then got relaxed and started chatting each other instead of taking care of me. I felt like I was ignored. They could have said “We’ll be with you soon” when I came in to show they are aware of me. That would have made me feel better. BTW, they washed my car after they worked on it, but the spare tire cover was about to fall off. If I hadn’t noticed, I would have lost it on my way home.
Never expect to get anywhere with this dealership. I bought the car and then sold it and I am still owed thousands of dollars on the extended warranty I purchased from them. By law you should get the money after 60 days. Well it has been going on since September. They only care about you as a customer if you are purchasing a car. Once you get the sale they could care less. I have been waiting since October for my refund check. They filled out the wrong form in October 2010 but never called me to tell me and I did not find this put until December 2010 when I contacted them after the initial 60 days. Now it is the middle of February 2011 and I still have no check. Stay away from them and avoid at all costs. I will be contacting the BBB and the DCA. Horrible dealership.
paid list price , very next day had a special promotion employe pricing , was never told.plus left some items in my trade when I called the next day they were gone?
I noticed a full page advertisement in the Asbury Park Press for Gateway Toyota. My wife and I have been shopping for a new Camry and the following sentence caught our eye:“We will buy back your current vehicle at 100%* of the original factory base model MSRP.”I checked the footnote, which read, “Deductions will be made for mileage, $.10 – $.15 depending on models and reconditioning, current market conditions apply.” Since my car has 97,000 miles, I calculated that I would receive at least $12,000 in trade-in value on a new Camry.I drove 45 minutes to Gateway Toyota and showed the ad to Jeff, a salesman. I gave him my keys so that he could have my 2001 Audi A4 evaluated. About 20 minutes later, he returned and told me that he would offer me about $5000 in trade on a new Camry LE. When I asked about the newspaper promotion, he said that I had received it. I indicated that I did not understand where his numbers came from, since my calculations were very different. He asked about my calculations and I told him that I paid about $28,000 for the car when I bought it. He responded with, “you don’t expect to get $28,000 for it, do you?”, to which I replied “of course, not, but in view of the vehicle’s mileage and even discounting the value by $.15 per mile (the maximum), I should be getting about $12,000 in trade-in value.” He then told me that there was a typo in the newspaper – it should have been $.10 – $.55 and offered to show me the disclaimer. At that point, I closed my notebook, and stood up as I laughed out loud. I asked for my keys and left the dealership – I certainly would not do business with such an unscrupulous business. Needless to say, this dealership is practicing deceitful practices that are an embarrassment to your company. I was particularly irked since while I was walking around the showroom, I noticed the customer satisfaction awards that this dealership had received, year over year.I emailed Toyota and they apologized and asked of I wanted the Customer Service rep to contact me, which I did. I received a call from “Ms. L” I’m afraid that their “Customer Relations Manager” reflects the same unacceptable attitude towards customers that apparently is the hallmark of Gateway Toyota. Our short conversation consisted primarily of her offering to send me the “disclaimer” and telling me that the dealership was not directly responsible for placing the ad (i.e., it’s not our fault). As I tried to explain to her that whoever did place the ad on their behalf was costing her dealership business, since they had definitely lost a customer because of it. She shortly tired of my coaching and discharged me with a curt “have a good day”. Despite holding the job title of “Customer Relations Manager”, she clearly has no concept of what the term means or what it’s responsibilities actually entail. She made a disgruntled customer even angrier with a single one-minute phone call.
all ratings should be “0” – the WORST dealer I’ve ever dealth with!!
We would never recommend this dealership to anyone and will never show our faces there again as the GM is a scam artist who doesn’t know how to keep his word. We purchased a 4Runner in July of ’09 which was great when we test drove it. A few hours later when we drove it off the lot, after having been detailed by them, it STUNK! They deny it being their fault however they assured us if we could find something comparable on the lot they would swap us out. A few weeks later when we finally found something we liked their story changed and they were only going to give us $2500 less than we paid for the vehicle just a couple months earlier as our trade value. We ended up not being able to find something that day. Came back a few weeks later and found something we really liked. Now the GM refuses to give us the trade value he originally promised. Needless to say we stood up and left the dealership. I have absolutely nothing good to say about the way this company does business! Gateway Toyota, be sure you will never see me (or anyone I know) again and I’m going to be your worst form of advertising!
The salesman was a gentleman. Naturally, he had to bring the closer/sales manager to talk to me when I thought the price was high and didn’t want to buy. The price was more than I wanted to spend, and they could only do so much. I respect that and was willing to walk away as friends. I was shopping other dealerships for prices, and this sales manager said the price I received from another dealer was not legit and that dealers sometimes give such a low price, that others can’t meet it and you go back to that first dealer who will never sell you the car at that low price, and that’s how they get you to come back. He said he does that as well. Of course, I went back to the first dealer with the low price, and the price was legit, but it’s nice to know that this Toyota dealer has no problem in giving you a price he won’t really sell you a car for, just so he can get you to come back to the dealership. A con artist is too nice a label for this guy.
