The sales person, Ali, was extremely rude, totally put off by the questions we asked, put off that we wanted to both test drive the car, put off that we wanted to drive more than a mile, put off that we wanted to drive the car over 30 mph, put off that we wanted to test drive more than one car, put off that we asked if prices were negotiable, insulted us for letting him know that we were looking at other dealers/makes.
The finance guy, was smarmy, changed the price of our trade-in, insulted us, wouldn’t give us a copy of the offer in writing.
I would never buy a car from this dealership. I took a used car I found to 2 mechanics who found a couple of things wrong with it. When I took it back, one of the sales mangers rudely told me there was nothing wrong with it. I wanted to tell him that since anyone can be an expert mechanic, he should let ME work on his car. I told him to fix the most urgent issue, and we’d talk. He agreed, then while we were talking to the salesman he told the salesman he wasn’t going to do what we’d just agreed on!
Since I lowballed the hell out of the price to start negotiations, it might have been a decent price, but not with something wrong with it. Also, the time it took and the way we were treated were unbelievable. Just imagine every little sleazy trick a dealership performs to get your money and you will be at this place! One customer actually yelled at them and left because they had agreed to sell her a car, and then started taking back what they had said! They actually even treat each other like crap! The managers were being jerks to the salespeople and the customers!
They want to run your credit before you agree to buy the car. They want a deposit and to run your credit for you to take it to the mechanic. You do not need to do any of this and you can take it to be inspected without any of these things. I actually think they were trying to trick me into buying it without realizing it in case I found anything wrong with it.
If you’re willing to sit through a bunch of sleaze and be treated rudely by a bunch of jerks who want to rip you off, go to this hole!
My husband and I looked at used vehicles on June 2, 2009. We dealt with salesman Wasif Ali. He pressured us into leaving a $100 deposit for a car, with the verbal promise that if we decided we didn’t want it he would reverse the charges on our credit card. We called in less than 24 hours and said we were uncomfortable with the deal, and he said okay, he would talk to his manager. We called repeatedly, once a week, asking why our money wasn’t being returned. I spoke with general manager Bob Ellis on a number of occasions and he kept saying “oh we’re looking into it.” or “yes yes the check’s in the mail.” Two months later he suddenly forgot who I was or the nature of the complaint, and asked for proof. So I faxed over my copy of the paperwork and receipt on Aug. 8, 2009. I contacted Toyota corporate on Sept. 21, 2009 and spoke with a Tanesha. She refered it to Elgin Toyota’s customer relations and true to my previous experience they never got back to me. When I called corporate again I was advised to either sue the owner of the dealership, Robert Loquerico, or try speaking with corporate liaison Michael Barich. Michael apologized profusely and sincerely, saying it was all a misunderstanding. On oct. 8 he reversed the $100 charge on my credit card, but did not reiumburse me for the the FOUR MONTHS of interest I’ve paid on that original charge.
