Typical sleezy car salesmen!!!
I am only putting 1 star because they wont let me put 0 or even negative stars.
I went to Elgin Huyundai to find a used car for my daughter ( who is 19 yrs. old and doesn’t know anything about cars ), we found one and proceeded to make a deal.george campbell was our salesman, and the deal was for $10,000.00 give or take a couple hundred out the door, for a used 2012 Hyundai Tuscan with 95,000 miles on it!
Because the car was just traded in, we left it with george for them to look it over and fix anything that might be a safety issue, which they did, and my daughter and I were going to come sign for it, and pick it up a few days later when they were done. Unfortunately, I could not make it that day, so my ex-wife and my daughter went to get the car instead (because I thought I had everything set up for the purchase). My daughter who is paying for college herself put $5,000 down and the rest of the $10,000.00 or so was to be financed. This was to be her college car (she’s going to U of Wyoming, which is a 15 hour drive…. one way)!
My daughter set up payment’s of around $200.00 a month and it was done. Today, my daughter called me after actually looking at the contract, she realized that there were several other charges that are clearly B.S., and some were charges that I told george campbell that I didn’t want, but somehow when my ex and my daughter (who once again, no nothing about cars) went to get the car, and unbeknownst to them, these other charges were on the contract. (why would anybody pay $15,000 for a 2012 Tuscan with 95,000 miles on it????? the deal was for approx. $10,000!!!)
I called carlos the sales manager about this and of course I get the run around! (how do these people sleep at night!). So now I’ve tried to get hold of the general manager (mike), and I haven’t received a call (go figure). How can these slimeballs take adevantage of a woman and a young girl!!! I have been in the auto industry for 35 years, but never car sales ( because I have a conscience), and I’ve worked with too many of them to know I couldn’t decieve ANYONE like this. DO NOT BUY HERE!!!!!!! DO NOT Bring any business here!!! If the sales dept. is like this, I’m sure the service dept. is just as sleezy.
Notice: Nobody named in this review that is affiliated with Elgin Hyundai has their name with a capital at the beginning because they don’t even deserve that little respect!
And this is not over by far!!! This review is just the beginning !!!
I just purchased a car on 11/16/13, and the very next day not even 12hrs later I had a flat tire in my driveway. The dealerships are not open on Sundays, so the next morning I call the service department because relatives I know who own Hyundai’s say they have great customer service. Well I call and received an attitude right away from the Elgin service dept. I said I just bought a car and I have a flat tire, and would like a new one replaced and if all possible at no charge since I just purchased the car. The service guy goes if it’s your fault you have to buy a new tire, I told him the car is brand new, and he says, it’s not our fault you ran over something, without even looking at it. I contact the Hyundai dealership in Schaumburg (Highly recommended) and they said tow the car here and we will look at the tire to make sure it’s not a defaulted tire. Schaumburg plugged up my tire, at no charge and the manager said that if we had purchased the car there, they would have replaced the tire at no charge no questions asked, but since it was not purchased there to take it to Elgin and they should replace it since the car is new. I called Elgin and told them I will be in and would like to speak with the Manager (Chris Mandelke). From the moment my husband and I walked in you can tell he already had an attitude on him. I said this car is new and I already have a flat tire in my driveway. He’s like you ran over something and we don’t cover it once you leave the lot. I’m like really! How do I not know it’s a defaulted tire that already had a small hole in there and just progressed as I drove it home and ran a few errands and to wake up the next morning to find a flat. There was not nail or anything in the tire. Chris Mandelke states that I must of pulled it out. Anyways I proceed to tell him that the gentleman I spoke with this am was rude. He didn’t care. I than asked what can you do. He goes nothing you need to buy a new tire with a smirk on his face. I said it’s clearly a defaulted tire. He goes we will have service look at it. Service says they should of not plugged it up, I said they did so I can drive to work and take it up with the dealership I bought my car from. He continued to tell me that it was my fault. He then says just because the Schaumburg dealership would give you a tire doesn’t mean we have to and then said if you drive out of here and get hit by a car does that mean we have to give you a new car. I was like that was so rude and that you talk to your customers like that. He then starts to raise his voice at me and goes “Would it make you happy if we replace your tire with a new one” I was like yes, I’m a customer who just bought a car with 6 miles on it and you should do whatever you have to do to make your customer happy. He then goes forget it. I was gonna give you one but not anymore. At that point my husband was getting angry because the GM is now yelling at me “A CUSTOMER” who knows how to tweet, write reviews, yelp, facebook etc, and works in cutomer service. I said I will not return here any more, refer anyone, and he goes you do what you have to do. At this point I felt threatend and asked to speak with his boss and he proceeds to say I’m the boss. I’m like you have one higher than you and I would like his name and number. He starts to walk away I said I want his business card to report him. I got so angry and walked into the used car area and Mike Medina (AWESOME) sales manager clearly saw my reaction and I explained everything that happened to him and Mitch. He walks me over and said I will be right back. Mike comes back and says, he spoke with the GM (Chris Mandelke) and that he called his boss, who said he didn’t have one and was told to give me a new tire and that he feels bad an apologizes. (YET HE NEVER HAD THE DECENCEY TO SAY IT ME IN PERSON). Mike says that I can come back on Wednesday and get my tire replaced free with no charge and to go see him when I get there. Mike Medina was very professional and very helpful, didn’t make any rude comments and took our situation and handled it professionally and never second guess anything. Truly someone who cares! I will be writing to the Owner of this dealership. Mike should get Kudos and the GM (Chris should get reprimanded). NO CUSTOMERS SHOULD EVER BE TREATED THE WAY WE WERE.
never buy a car here they will rip you off to no end
they would pull the wheelchair from there own grandma and sell too someone else
We brought in our vehicle to have the weather strips replaced on all four doors under warranty as it was loose and falling. This was the 2nd time the vehicle was being brought to this dealership for the same problem. My husband was called and advised we needed a brake job like “yesterday”. We advised them not to complete the brake job because the brakes were replaced a little over 12 months ago at Firestone. We took the vehicle back to Firestone for a brake inspection and were advised the brakes are in good condition and recommended to have the brakes reinspected in 6 months.
I don’t know why the dealership removed the wheels to do a brake inspection when the vehicle was in for warranty work on the doors and we weren’t having any problems or noises with the brakes.
When I spoke with management at the dealership I expressed my concern about them not offering a 2nd opinion about the brakes when there was a major discrepancy. I was advised they don’t feel they need a 2nd opinion because their mechanics have a lot of training and know what they’re doing. I think this is a terrible dealership policy.
I was very unhappy with the service AND customer service at this dealership and filed a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General AND Hyundai Consumer Affairs. I would NOT recommend bringing your vehicle to the service department at this dealership even if it’s for warranty work.
All of the above information is true and accurate to the best of my knowledge.
is place totally sucks….i bought a used car there and since i was in a hurry to take the car the same day, they have given me a sheet that says things they owe…..they asked me to come after next week to get those things fixed….they took my car for a week or so and fixed only few things and said they have done it all…..when i checked the car on my way back home ..i saw a number of issues not addressed…..then wen i went back they said to come next week….after repeated calls and going to office…..they finally decided to get them fixed, few at their show room and few at another show room …initially they agreed to pay the costs but when the payment was to be made they said they wont pay the amount….they started behaving like school kids hanging up the calls made by the show room service advisor…keeping calls on hold…not responding properly…..then finally after a lot of argument they agreed to pay but then at the cost of not fixing few other issues they have given me in the owe sheet….i have been cheated by these ppl…i would never ever recommend anyone to this showroom or any show room owned by blautogroup…..I also tried to contact general manger to see if he can address the issues but then I realized that it is just a waste of time and energy….
