Worst experience I have ever had, hands down. Paid a little more than the blue book value for this car in excellent condition due to the decent mileage, CARFAX, and single owner. It was not in excellent condition. Waited more than 2 hours just to sign a few papers and leave the lot with this car, was kept waiting by a rude salesman with the worst disposition. We paid in full, no financing or anything complicated. Purchased with service agreement and a 2,000 mile, 60 day warranty. All the annoying stuff (credit check, sales pitch, test drive, etc.) was handled the day prior so we expected to pay and leave.
The transmission failed on the way home from the dealer the day of purchase. Was towed back to the dealer and given a loaner car. Called a few days later to find out the status of the car and the repair, was essentially told to stop calling. “We’ll call you”. Nearly 2 weeks after purchase, the rude salesman calls to tell me the MPV was getting “a whole new transmission”. (not the case, they just replaced some parts on the transmission and rebuilt it) Was told he’d call when it was ready. Almost a full month later, I finally am called to come pick it up. Was told to come by the following day to get it. Then was called late that same night to be told they didn’t really have it but they’d have it for sure on Monday. Okay, fine.
Went to pick it up the following Monday. The temp tags were set to expire so I immediately took it for licensing. That’s when I found out the safety and emissions inspections were both expired. Not just expired, long expired. I called to complain and get it sorted out. No one at the dealer would return my calls. My mom called too. I finally got in touch with the service manager who told me I could have it inspected at my expense and mail them the receipt for reimbursement. Still waiting for that reimbursement.
Took the car to get inspected and learned the front left axle boot was torn. After calling around (Dean Team still not taking or returning my multiple phone calls and emails), I found out the boot was torn before the transmission work, was noted on the transmission repair receipt, and Dean team was aware of the torn boot but let me drive off the lot with it anyway without saying a word.
My husband, myself, my mother, and my stepfather have made dozens and dozens of attempts to contact the dealer via every method except perhaps fax! They have avoided and ignored attempts to communicate serious issues. Furthermore, they tampered with the warranty agreement I signed at the dealer in an attempt to renege on it and the salesman told my mother I had no warranty and should just be grateful they sold me a lemon they patched up and sent me on my way with.
From the beginning, I was made to feel like an ungrateful nuisance. I have been insulted and defrauded by this dealer and would not recommend Dean Team Hyundai if they were the last dealer on earth. They are horrific, absolutely horrific. Digging deeper online, I found dozens of terrible reviews for this place and there are new complaints with the BBB of St. Louis. I wish I had never heard of this place. If you value things like honesty, integrity, courtesy, honored agreements, and respect, avoid this dealer. BUYER BEWARE!
