Typical bait and switch dealer.
Was quoted over email by Aaron V. at a good price for 2013 legacy 2.5i base model with automatic transmission. After I went in, they wasted at least two hours of my time using excuses of preparing the car etc. (This is part of their pathetic tactics since customers become too tired to negotiating with them). Then I was told the car was sold and wanted me to switch to a said-to-be-different car which actually has same trim and options for $1500 more. Manager has no good reason to support the higher price, but keep saying “it’s different”. I was really pissed off and still feel bad while writing this.
Stay as far as possible from this dealer. It’s a mean dealer.
I went to Subaru with complete intention to purchase a Forester Premium. Everything was going well until today when it was 8pm and I was still trying to get a better deal for my trade in car, when the manager of the place walked in and said let’s make this all easy and said what do you want to pay for the car, how much do you expect for the old car and said you really think this is how we do business here? He got up and said we are done here. And I was sitting there with the sales guy in shock as to how a dealership could treat its potential customer this way. He said you have wasted enough of my time and I want you guys to leave at which point I said this is not the way to treat a customer and he went further to say I never want to see you guys back here. We were already standing outside and asked what are you threatening us? And the manager had the nerve to say if you stay here I will call the cops. OMG! I have never seen any place that has ever treated anyone this bad I think. I wish I knew the contact information of Bruce Titus so I could ask if this is how his ideal customer experience should look like. I went to the dealership at 6pm kept working with the sales guy until this manager showed up and totally insulted me for not agreeing to whatever they said I should look at as my trade-in and payment should be. Really the manger wanted to call the police just because I took up 2 hours and said is this how you treat your customers? Now why would I every go here or recommend this place to anyone?
My initial impressions of East side Subaru were, as a whole, fine. The staff was initially friendly and the price quoted for my 30k service was about average. I was even given a loaner. But the experience turned bad when I came to pick the car up. I was ushered past the service rep to the cashier to get my money. After reviewing my bill I realized that the cabin air filter, I requested, had not been installed. When I inquired about it I was told that my car didn’t have one. I then requested that they double check because the owner’s manual clearly stated that it did. After insisting that I was wrong I had to find the cabin air filter myself and prove to the service manager that my car did indeed have one and that it was nasty, full of hair, pine needles and dirt. I knew from previous experience that if this filter is not replaced it can lead to the failure of the blower motor and a $600 repair, of course the car would be well out of warranty by the time that happens. After showing the service manager the filter he became belligerent and told me they had it in stock and would replace it for $75. I found it funny that he knew the filter was in stock and yet didn’t know my car had one. I refused to let them work on the car anymore and took it to elsewhere. After leaving the dealership I noticed that the engine air filter had not been attached and that the engine was sucking in unfiltered air, fortunately I discovered this quickly and I doubt any harm was done to the engine. It was at this point that I realized they replaced an air filter that was literally a few days old, and I had clearly told them it had a new air filter in it. I can only assume that they routinely replace the filter regardless of the condition of the current filter to add a few more dollars to the cost of maintenance. The icing on the cake was being charged for synthetic and standard engine oil! Needless to say I will never be back and I hope that taking the time to write this review will save someone else the pain and frustration I experienced.
I worked with the internet manager Zach Bridge here. He seemed very honest and upfront with everything – no games or schtick – I told him what I wanted, what price I wanted to pay and he made it happen with no grief.
This dealership also gave me lifetime oil changes as part of their “package”, I am looking forward to using them!
