Yes, it appears they are gone since there are no cars on the lot but I was told they are changing financing so they have no new cars until this is arranged and they are moving across the street. The service department is still open and taking appts.
To address the free oil changes, they are in fact no charge. The trick is that you must have them perform the scheduled maintenance according to the manual. This is where they make up the money they lose in oil changes since these scheduled services aren’t cheap. So if you are the kind that does your own service or has a non-dealer mechanic then the freee oil changes won’t apply to you.
As for having to make an appt and not being able to just drive in, this makes total sense. If I’m waiting at the dealer for my service appt and people drive up to get oil changes I don’t want my mechanic to stop working on my car to take care of these drive ups. If you are worried about missing the free oil change mileage window make the appt a week or two before the mileage window closes.
My biggest complaint about this dealer was the shabby showroom and waiting area. But with the announced move I’m thinking there will be improvements.
Other than Toyota it’s hard to find another company like Hyundai that has so many top rated vehicles in one place. And the value is unbeatable. I know it sounds like I work there but I don’t. I’m just a good customer.
Update – May 5, 2009
I called and made an appt for an oil change 2 weeks ago when I wrote this review. Well today was my appt and the doors are locked and no signs posted anywhere except the Space Available signs. So it looks like it is totally over for the Rainier Automotive Group dealers. Time to recycle the free oil change booklet and search for another Hyundai dealer for service.
does anyone know where they went? I am PISSED. They didn’t let the customers know they would be gone.
I brought the car in for it’s 7500 mile service, with a complaint about a rattle in the left rear of the car. The service writer told me they found the tool kit loose nad tightened it up to fix the rattle. Subsequent driving revealed that the rattle was still there. I drove by the other day to find the dealership devoid of cars and personnel, with no signs indicating a relocation address, nor any reason for them to be closed. Where are they?
Great time. Great experience.
When I recently bought a car at Eastside Hyundai in Kirkland, WA I was told that there were free oil changes for life and that I could just drop in — no scheduling of appointments was necessary. This was good since the oil changes needed to be completed within a 500 mi window to be “free”.
The reality is that I called this morning to say that I was going to bring the car in for an oil change and was told that I needed to schedule an appointment and that they were scheduling appointments for more than a week in the future. So by that time I will be beyond the mileage window and NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A FREE OIL CHANGE.
I will followup with BBB on this.
