If anyone goes to this dealership, the one in Landover, I recommend them to ask for Kenneth. He is the general manager and he will make sure that you are well taken care of. He’s awesome and definitely knows how to provide great customer service. He goes above and beyond. The time spent at the dealership was lengthy but it was because there was another customer ahead of us with payment difficulty. Other than that I believe it would have been much faster. Nevertheless, we went in looking for a suv and that’s what we left with.
I would NOT recommend anyone making a purchase from this dealership. They are fraud! My husband and I purchased a vehicle from them a month ago and already we are having issues with the truck. When we went into the dealership we were looking for an suv, which we got but were working into getting an older model, which apparently was not what they said it was. They told us that if we purchased the truck that they would give us 5 free oil changes and add on an extended warranty. We decided to go ahead and take the deal even though the vehicle was 12 years old. A month later the passenger side window stop working and would not stay closed. While driving each bump that you hit the window would come down even more. This was crazy being it was causing rain to get inside the vehicle. The day that this started I called the dealership to report the problem and the manager told us to bring the truck in and they would fix it. I took it in that same week and everyone claims that they knew nothing about this promise. I also spoke with the manager who assured us that we would have that 1 year extended warranty and those 5 free oil changes and he also claims that he never told us about that. We signed paperwork for the extended warranty as well and never received a copy, which was not noticed until after the fact since we were in a rush trying to get out of there…we had been in there for 6 hours already! So now they are telling us a month after our purchase that we have to pay $300 to get the window fixed.
They fixed my window at no cost to us! Yaaay! I would love to take my bad review down but I can’t figure out how to do it. After speaking with the general manager Kenneth, he advised me that he knew nothing about what happened and wishes that he would have been there when I came in to get my window fixed because he surely would have taken care of it for us. So a special thanks to him for being an awesome manager/salesman. There was just a misunderstanding on the entire situation.
If you want to get ripped off go to any IAD location. Thats all i got to say.
I recently purchased 2 vehicles from IAD Auto. The sales staff and management team helped me and my wife purchase the cars that we wanted. They were friendly and professional during the process. We love the new cars that we bought. They looked great, they detailed the cars for us to make sure that we were happy taking our cars home. The price was more than reasonable and the financing was so easy. We are going back to purchase a car for our daughter. We would recommend them to anybody. I brought my other car to the them for service and they gave me an estimate which was 30% lower than where I normally take my cars to for the last 5 yrs.
I went to the IAD in Landover looking to purchase a vehicle. The process was long but worth the wait. I got excatly what I wanted (Mercedes). My salesman was not 100% on what he was suppose to do and was all over the place. He told me ahead of time what I needed and I brought them as he requested. He told me being 100% positive to bring the amount disclosed for my down payment and that would get me to drive off the lot. He was wrong! The downpayment was higher than anticipated because of the warranties added on to the down payment. The GM saw how upset and stressful the situation was and took me in the office. She told MY salesman that I would drive off with my vehicle today and that I could bring the rest at a later date. The GM at the Landover location is ABSOLUTLY AMAZING!!!! She knows exactly how to get and keep business. She truly makes the process alittle lighter and made peace!
My nephew bought a used car from them. The next day, the car stopped running. My husband went to pick him up, and there was no oil showing on the dipstick. My husband put 3 quarts in before the oil started showing on the dipstick. They towed the car for us, and said there was nothing wrong with the oil…but the gas gauge was broken. They fixed it and 5 days later the car stopped running again. This time, the oil was completely dry and the engine seized. We had to tow the car to them, and they said my nephew must have been racing around in the car, running up the engine in a low gear, and he had destroyed the engine. They also told us that their manager had seen him over on the Eastern Shore, driving back roads at 80 mph. When I asked what day this was, they named a day when he was at work all day, and in school until 10 PM. There was no way he could have been where they said he was, and the manager told me he didn’t believe me. They tried to say we had bought the car “as is”, even though the paperwork showed a 30-day guarantee. Finally, they grudgingly agreed to replace the engine but we had to pay 1/2 the cost because of the way the guarantee was written. They required me to pay our entire cost before doing any work. When I went in to make the payment, I asked specifically if this would cover the entire cost of the engine replacement — there would be no add-ons. The service manager told me it included everything. We were also told (by the general manager) that there was a 12-month warranty on the replacement engine. 10 days later, I called to find out if the car was ready and they said it was. My husband and I went to pick it up, and not only wasn’t it ready but they had done another $300+ worth of repairs and not gotten our agreement first. The service manager said it was because my nephew had given him incorrect phone #’s, and that why he couldn’t reach us. I was the one who gave him the contact phone #’s, the day I went in to make the payment. We waited almost 2 hours for the car, and when they presented the paperwork, it stated, “No warranty — as-is.” They tried to tell us that they “never” warranty their work, and when I mentioned the general manager, they said, “Oh, he’s no longer with the company.” It took another 30 minutes, and 3 more people getting involved, before we got the paperwork changed. Also, the knobs were missing from the heat/ac unit. The service manager said my nephew must have changed out the radio and lost the knobs to the heat/ac in the process. (He did not change out the radio). Then, on the way home, a large plastic cover under the engine fell halfway off and was dragging on the ground. As soon as I got home, I called them and the service manager told me the screws must have loosed and dropped out, and for us to remove the cover and bring it back in and they would replace it. I would NEVER do business with this company again.
The people are friendly and smile a lot, probably because they know they will get you at the end. The extra fees and add ons make most of the vehicles overpriced and you don’t find out about these fees until you’ve sat down and started to sign papers for a deal. When I walked in with the Internet Ad, I asked if this price was good and was told yes. I then expected to pay that price plus taxes, tags, and a typical couple hundred dollar charge.
Did not install promised options and ended up arguing to get reimbursed for them.
Beware when buying from this dealer.
She was very helpful and gave us very good insight on the car and the loan. We have never met anyone as honest and patient as her. 🙂
Bottom line this was the worst car purchasing experience in my life . I already had my financing from my credit union all I had to do was choose a car. I gave them a price and chose the car and told them it was all I can do and all I was willing to do. the their told me to stick to that price cuz the finance guy would try n beat me. the finance guy jerked me round for almost a hour to say no they couldn’t do it. Then they call me the next day saying they can do it smh. Mind u I already had a car picked out at another dealership all I had to do was bring them the check but I wanted the car in red and iadauto was the only one in the area with red.
The dealership was dysfunctional and very unprofessional
I had a relatively good experience with IAD Auto. If I had to do it all over again I would, but would purchased the Benz instead of the Hummer. The Hummer is great but the Benz would have have been better. Maybe next time. Keep up the fine work. And I still owe one of the mangers a beer. 🙂
This review is for both the Landover and Beltsville locations as I visited both during the course of my purchase.
Now, before I start, it should be noted that I have bad credit. Not bad credit like foreclosure or bankruptcy but bad credit like I have never bought a house or financed a car before, don’t keep credit cards around, ran out on a small doctor bill or two and, since I am self-employed, am automatically labeled “subprime” by most creditors.
When my car hit its 10th birthday and 145,000 miles, I knew it was time to retire the old beast. Worried about my credit, however, I never imagined an almost new car would be within my reach.
On a whim, I checked out Mazdas I liked around town online and saw a clean, beautiful Mazda3 listed on the IAD website. The company claims they will finance anyone but I’ve heard that line before (and it’s usually a lie). I figured either I’d be stuck in an upgraded beater only slightly better than my current car or walk away from the lot empty handed.
Two days later, the almost new Mazda3 was parked in my parking lot thanks to IAD.
Note that while I dinged IAD slightly for “price,” it is not their fault. Financing those who can’t get easy credit in this uncertain economic environment is not free, nor is it cheap. I just want people reading this to be aware that you aren’t going to get some amazing 0% interest deal if your credit is questionable, that’s just not realistic. Their prices are fair if you look at the big picture of the work they put into getting you into a car when other dealers will not even bother with you.
As for promises? They keep them. Fred – their superstar finance guy who is almost always on his Bluetooth making the deals happen – told me the first day we met after he checked out my bank statements and income that he would get me in that car and he delivered on that promise. Granted, I’m paying an obscene amount of interest when banks are borrowing money from the Fed for $0 but again, what did I expect? On paper, I’m a credit risk. I know that. IAD knew that. But they made it happen like they said they would and at the end of the day, I feel like they gave me the best deal they could given the circumstances.
The car was exactly as listed on the website (BETTER!) and they’ve got tons of really nice vehicles that are clean and priced fairly. Genny, the long-time manager who I met at the Landover location, was very sweet – but then again, I have a soft spot for anyone who refers to me as “dear” when she talks to me.
Any other dealer might have tried to talk me into a cheaper, crappier car but no one at IAD questioned my choice. Like I said, they said they’d do whatever they had to do to get me in it and that’s exactly what they did. Aladin in finance was also great to work with – no nonsense or BS (plus totally fun to hang out with!), and that’s saying a lot for a used car lot that specializes in financing hard to finance individuals.
The Beltsville location is especially lively. Everyone there was polite, accommodating and not at all sleazy – you know what I mean. It’s a used car lot, right? They are 100% no pressure and will go out of their way to get you in the car of your dreams as long as you’ve got a down payment and/or decent trade-in and no major horrible issues on your credit like 15 repos or 10 bankruptcies. They are super flexible, meaning they will work with you to whatever extent allowed by law to make sure everyone is happy, all you have to do is ask. I probably heard the phrase “no problem” more in my time at IAD than I had in my entire life.
This is the first car I’ve purchased for myself and I couldn’t be happier. Was it “cheap”? No (and it shouldn’t be, it’s not even a year old!). Was it easy? All things considered, absolutely.
If you have less than ideal credit but don’t want to be stuck with an ugly, ratty used car from those well-known bad credit car lots (I won’t name names), get over to IAD, they will hook you up.
I saw a vehicle online for about $8500 and was going to put $4000 down. I have poor credit so I knew the interest rate would be high. However, by the time the deal was done, the sales price of thie vehicle ended being $14500 before financing. They added $1300 for something like dealer prep which was a joke as the interior was filthy, then $1500 for shipping (i asked if it came from California), then the kicker was another $3000 because they said the finance company required an additional $3000 even though I was being charged 23% interest. Since I had spent two days at this dealer after looking all over for a reasonable car and deal, I ended up scraping up the cash to pay their “Internet Cash Price” of $8500 which ended up being $11500 delivered. THEN, they installed a GPS tracking system on the vehicle and wanted to charge me $500 for it “in case it was stolen”.
The people are friendly and smile a lot, probably because they know they will get you at the end. The extra fees and add ons make most of the vehicles overpriced and you don’t find out about these fees until you’ve sat down and started to sign papers for a deal.
