Ford 2011 Explorer Off To A Good Start
It spent years at the top of the SUV sales charts before crashing, ignominiously, in the wake of a safety scare. But even before the completely redesigned 2011 Ford Explorer actually rolls into showrooms it’s showing strong signs of success….more

My wife and I spent a great deal of time researching our new Ford Escape purchase by visiting several dealers to see in person all the color choices available and all the interior trims. We then emailed our specifications for our Escape and detailed specifics about our trade-in vehicle requesting a quote for this very specific vehicle. Dunn Benson Ford’s quote was significantly less than other dealers in the area.
We subsequently ordered our Escape and waited patiently for its arrival. We were apprised on a regular basis as to the progress of our Escape through the build and delivery process. Finally our Escape was delivered a prepped. We drove the short distance to Dunn Benson Ford to take delivery and arrange financing. We arrived a little before 4pm to pick up our new Ford and after a period of inspecting the car and toying with some of the features we signed some preliminary documents with the salesman. After about an hour when nothing seemed to be happening we were told that one of the financial computers had broken down and only one finance officer was working and that there were customers ahead of us and it would be “a few minutes” before we would be able to be seen.
After another half an hour waiting we were again told by our salesman that he was sorry for the inconvenience but it would be a “few more minutes. After waiting longer we were told that we would be the next customer to see the finance officer. However, when the Finance officer completed his transactions with his current customer he then led in another customer that had been waiting ahead of us. That is when I began to get angry. We were given an expectation (finally) and then it was almost immediately not met.
During our paper work session with the salesman we exchanged vehicle keys and we surrendered the trade-in registration as well as transferred our vehicle tags from our old car to the Escape. Because of this and the dissembling by the sales person as to how long it would take before we saw the finance officer I felt trapped and preyed upon.
If we had been apprised of the situation when we first arrived and given a reasonable estimate as to how long it was going to take to see the finance officer we could have made an informed decision as to whether to stay and wait or to go home and come back the next day when it was more convenient but we were never given this option.
By the time we saw the finance officer I was so angry by misleading statement from the sales person that I could have spit and it has completely clouded my attitude toward my new car. It was undoubtedly the very worst vehicle buying experience of my lifetime and I’m in my 60’s and have bought numerous vehicles in the past. I go out in my garage and instead of seeing and taking pride in my new vehicle I’m just reminded of how angry and poorly treated I was at the dealership.
