I have purchased 2 cars from Toyota, was happy with terms and services were very good. I would go back.
We own a 2002 Toyota Tacoma. Brought our truck in for rust recall issue. While we were waiting we went to look at a new Tundra. We have been talking about buying one for over one year now. We met Lewis/ Lou Robinson ( Spelling of his name may be incorrect) This person was over bearing, didn’t listen, talked over myself and my wife. He did not stay on track with myself or my wife. Kept changing topic. In the end I had to tell Lou/Lewis 4 times we were done. It was not until he watched the back side of my body leaving, that it dawned on him we were leaving. After a couple of calls to the store to make comment about our situation and 3 days later this guy ( Lewis Robinson ) calls our home telling us that he was under the impression that things went ok in his mind, ” and that if we thought we had a bad experience that he could tell us about his experiences” this under minds and minimizes our experience with a sarcastic tone. We have made complaint to Toyota corporate ( Case # 1009020788) and have looked else where for our new truck.
THESE PEOPLE ARE SHORT OF CRIMINALS WHO TRY TO SKIRT THE LAWS TO MAKE A BUCK..BOUGHT $40K 2010 HIGHLANDER WHICH HAD HOOD CLEARCOAT BUBBLES/ PEELING AND AC DID NOT WORK WITHIN 3 WEEKS OF PURCHASE. I BROUGHT CAR TO SERVICE DESK TO HAVE FIXED AND WHEN I PICKED UP CAR WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO PAPERWORK OR RECIEPTS. KNOWING TOYOTA’S RECENT TROUBLES I DEMANDED AN INVOICE AND WAS TOLD ONE WOULD BE PREPARED AND MAILED TO ME.. IT TOOK 3 WEEKS AND MULTIPLE PHONECALLS AND STILL NO INVOICES OF WORK DONE AND REPAIRS..I WANTED DOCUMENTATIONS FOR ANY LEMON LAW CLAIMS WHICH MIGHT COME UP SINCE RECALL PROBLEMS. THREE WEEKS AFTER THIS, AGAIN NO A/C. I REMINDED THEM WHEN SETTING UP 2ND SERVICE APPOINTMENT THAT I WAS DUE INVOICES FROM LAST REPAIR. RECEPTIONIST SAID NOTHING WAS IN COMPUTER. HOW CONVIENT DEALER TRIES TO GET AWAY WITH FIXING PROBLEM WITH NO DOCUMENTATION THE FIRST TIME. LEMON LAW GIVES THEM 3 DOCUMENTED TRIES YOU SEE!!..WENT TO SERVICE MANGER AND WAS GIVEN THE COMPANY PITCH ABOUT HOW THEY DID THIS OUT OF GOOD FAITH AND DID NOT DOCUMENT IT FOR MY SAKE!!..WHAT A CROCK!!!..THEN THE TOPPER!!,,WHEN I SAID I STILL WANT THE RECIEPTS FOR LEMON LAW CONSUMER RIGHTS WHICH I HAVE. HE SAID AND I QUOTE”LET’S NOT GO OVERBOARD WITH THIS, KEEP IT IN PERSPECTIVE AT LEAST YOURS WAS NOT A STUCK ACCELERATOR AND SOMEONE DID NOT DIE, ITS JUST AN A/C UNIT, BOY I WISH I WOULD OF TAPED THAT FOR CNN!!.WELL,I LEFT THE CAR FOR AC REPAIR AND WAS CALLED THE NEXT DAY TO PICK UP IT WAS ALL FIXED.I SPECIFICALLY ASKED ON THE PHONE IF THE REQUESTED INVOICES FROM THIS AND LAST REPAIR WAS THERE AND WAS TOLD YEP!..MR… WE HAVE THEM ALL READY FOR YA. I SAID THANK U AND THAT I AM ON MY WAY TO PICK UP CAR. I GOT THERE AND ON THE RENTAL AGREEMENT FOR THE LOANED CAR SOME ONE HAD TYPED.”GOODWILL HOOD PAINT BUFF/FREON ADDED”. NO MENTON THAT THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG OR A PROBLEM..HOW GREAT FOR THEM. I TOLD SERVICE MANAGER I AM DONE AND AM NOT GETTING AGGRAVATED BY REQUESTING AGAIN AND DROVE DIRECTLY TO MY LAWYER’S OFFICE…THIS IS THE WAY THEY TREAT YOU HERE. THEY PROMISE YOU THIS AND THAT AND THEN WHEN YOU WANT TO UTILIZE WHAT WAS PROMISED IT BECOMES A HE SAID SHE SAID. WELL LAWYER IS WRITING A LETTER DEMANDING DOCUMENTATION. I JUST PRAY SOMEONE READS THIS AND CHOOSES ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO BUY A TOYOTA..THESE PEOPLE ARE LIKE INTALIANO MAFIOSO GOONY GUMBA SOPRANO TYPES. After a test drive, I asked the salesperson to work up a monthly lease payment with all charges rolled into the payment. He gave me an offer in writing, which included a $1200 discount.
When I reviewed the information, I discovered that sales tax had been added in to the capitalized cost of the car. I called them on this (on a lease, tax is based on the monthly payment). They admitted they had made a ‘mistake’, but then out of nowhere, they added in a bank fee which compensated for taking out the tax.
In short–the $1200 discount was not real–it was added back with the tax. When I caught them on this, they still tried to take it away with the ‘bank fee.’ I went to Motorworld, where they gave me straight, honest numbers. Interestingly, they charged no bank fee.
I’ve been advising people to avoid Toyota of Scranton. They can’t be trusted.
