I have never been so disappointed, after doing bussiness with Dalzell’s for many years (15+) suddenly the employees that made it happen are missing and the service is horrible now. When asked were the older employees are you get the typical …he is no longer with us? I feel that Dalzell’s no longer has any loyalty to it’s customers or it’s employees.I am done with Dalzell’s and done with Volvo. I recently traded one of my Volvos for a Ford Taurus, and I am so glad I did. I look forward to getting rid of the other two, one xc70 and one S60. Thanks Dalzell’s you actually did me a favor. I quess the cars are not the only thing made in china now, so is the business!

The service department sucked. I 100% recommend that you do NOT go there. If your looking for a place where the service sucks and the bullshit is high then dalzell volvo is the place for you. If your actually looking for good quality service then go somewhere else. Never again will I go to that place.
I needed to post a general warning to those Volvo owners that may service their vehicles with Dalzell Volvo in Dedham, MA. My wife brought her XC90 in for an oil change and to check the tire pressure, as the warning light was continuing to go off. We asked them to check a few other things as we had the opportunity to do so. They of course came back with “it needs this and it needs that”; well now it needs an allignment. And a quick one at that. The technicians tinkered and offset the wheels so bad that when driving it next door in the Legacy parking lot, we could almost do a full circle without touching the wheel. It could litteraly park itself to the left. We immediately took the car back and of course they had hightailed it out of there for the weekend. They closed at 1 pm on Saturday and do not come in on Sunday. The car was left in an undrivable dangerous condition. Monday morning at 7:30, I called to have them fix their mistake and if they couldn’t in a timely manner, I would need a loaner to get to work. They staight out said they would not be responsible; that they couldn’t have done anything to offset the allignment and “will not be fixing the problem; if you wanted to bring it in we can take a look, but there will be cost.”
I have a three year old and a pregnant wife that uses this car. We went with Volvo for their safety record. Unfortunately the car is too dangerous for her to drive and I will have to take out my wallet to fix the problem asap. (I cannot wait for Dalzell Volvo to take responsibility)
Be aware that when you leave Dalzell, you may be leaving with an unsafe vehicle with more cost than expected, whether you like it or not.
My family of 5 walked through the door and were immediately made welcome by all the sales people. Gary listened to what we wanted and showed us a couple cars. We ended up buying what was probably the cheapest car on the lot, yet we were treated like we bought the flagship. Gary and Bob are not the owners of the company, but sure acted like it when it came to working with us and trying to build a “return-customer” relationship. They gave us the best offer on our trade in as well. It was a Dodge Durango worth $14k under private sale, and they offered us $2k more than the other dealerships did that we went to. This is a good place to do business and we will definitely return.
This happened three years ago, but I want everyone to know.
Took my car for evaluation after hitting a concrete lane divider at 15 mpg. The impact burst the tire and ruined the wheel. After replacing both, I felt a new vibration in the front end, so I went to the dealer for an evaluation and explained exactly what had happened to the car.
The service writer supposedly had the car inspected by a mechanic, then told me that I had cracked one of the strut mounts. It seemed plausible, so I asked for an estimate and said that I woulod schedule an appointment for the following week. However, the printed estimate cited two broked strut mounts. When I questioned the service writer, he said, “Oh, they’re both broken.”
That made me suspicious, so I went to my own neighborhood, master auto mechanic and asked him to inspect the car. After the inspection, he said the following (paraphrasing): “Did they remove the strut assembly to find this damage? Did you actually see someone inspect the car? I couldn’t find anything wrong with the struts or mounts. But I did find a broken tie rod – and you are lucky to have made it back here on the highway.” Apparently, the impact and damaged the lower tie rod on the opposite side of the car. I have saved the broken piece all this time.
Too bad the dealer’s mechanic couldn’t be bothered to actually inspect the car as I had asked. And too bad the service writer is a fraud.
Take your car elsewhere!
Hi,
I was so royally screwed by Dalzell Volvo that I actually wrote a blog about it.
http://www.dalzellvolvosucks.com
They basically fixed one problem and then created another… tried to fix it, but didn’t. Then charged me for something they didn’t fix which was verified recently by a different garage.
Stay away from this place.
Just an FYI,
I bought a car here last Aug. from an inexperienced salesman who assured me that this car is great in the snow. Come to find out, with the original Pirelli tires ($$) this car would not back out of a plowed driveway!! Had to buy 4 new snow tires, cost me $900.00. Needless to say, the original tires I bought the car with were only used Aug. 29 – Dec. 29 and just put back on the vehicle April 13, 2009. I just found out that I need new tires once again after bringing the car in for shimmying issues, oce again. First they told be it was shimmying due to the large snow tires, now that my original tires are back on the car, they tell me they are scalloped and this is what is causing the shimmying?? 100% BULLSHIT!!
Never again,
MR:(
