We had nothing but issues from the time we walked in the door. We were greeted at our truck door, even before we got out of our truck, we got out of the truck and we told the dealer we were here for a new truck, this is our trade in. We do not have a down payment, and we can only afford a $300 a mnth truck payment. We asked to have paperwork done first so they knew where we stood and what trucks they could show up that we could afford, with our trade in. They said it doesnt work that way, we have to find something we like before they can see if we can afford it. We started looking at trucks and found one we liked. They told us the truck payment would be $600 a mnth. I told them we already told you we could only afford $300, that is why I asked you to look at the paperwork first and not show us something we couldnt afford. after 2 hours of negotiations we agreed to $350 a mnth and $200 down. We got into financing to sign the paperwork and the own paper had gone up to $400 dollars. We stood up to walk out and they went back down to $200.00 down. After that we had the truck for about a mnth and the transmission started acting up. The sales man that helped every couple weeks would text us about a new truck they got in. We kept saying we just got a truck we cant get another one. It affects our credit every time we get a new loan. He wouldnt stop. After 6 months of texts my husband finally went in again they showed him a new truck. Again we told them we cannot afford a bigger payment than we agreed to last time. $350 is the limit. We do not have a down payment. Again going into financing the price of the truck went up to $365 a mnth and they said we agreed to $350 down. The truck they wanted to sale us had major issues, the front end was messed up from an accident, the shocks were back, the auto locks dont work, the tires were worn. The check engine light was on. They said they would fix all issues with the truck. But they wouldnt hold the truck for us. We had to sign the paperwork before they would start fixing the truck. My husband believed them and signed the paperwork. They fixed 1 issue with the truck. They kept the truck for 2 weeks in their shop. They got the check engine like to turn off. the other issues didnt get fixed. After we picked up truck we filled out the paperwork to get our gap insurance back from the trade in. They said they would process the paperwork. after 2 weeks of calling and asking about the refund they finally said we dont get it back because we used it for our down payment. We gave them cash for the down payment. They refused to refund our gap insurance. We had a friend that needed a car and my husband, still trusting this dishonest company, sent him down there. The salesman contacted my husband and thanked him for sending the referral and we would get a $350 referral. after 2 weeks of waiting for a referral we called them again. They again said we wouldnt get the referral because we didnt give our friend a business card. They called us to let us know that our registration and license plate was in. We went down to pick it up and they tried again to sell us another truck. Again we had to say we cannot buy another truck we just bought one, we are picking up the registration that just came in. We cannot afford this again. They will look for anyway to keep your money, and to get as much out of you as possible. They break their promises and dont listen to you when you tell them what you can do comfortably.
Simply put, do not buy a car from this dealership. I purchased a vehicle in October 2013 and 7 days later; transmission was gone. It has been in the shop at least once a month and now, the vehicle has been sitting, inoperable, in my driveway for 6 months. All the while I’m paying the car payment and battling with these crooks to fix the piece of crap they sold me. Trade it in? Not even a possibility! DO NOT GO TO NATIONAL AUTO PLAZA.
Bought a 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500HD from them a year ago. Found out today that the truck is not an LT it is a wt (work truck) which is worth significantly less. Basically when they acquired the truck they added carpet and replaced the wt badge on the tale gate with an LT and sold it to me as an LT. Now a year later I find out that I am almost $7000 upside down in because of this. I went down there today to see if they would make it right. The only thing that they would do is trade it for something cheaper. Heck no!! Not buying another vehicle from them ever! I told them the best way to make it right is to write a check for the difference. At that point they got very very rude with me and said no way. I will be getting a lawyer. Do not go to this dealership!! Murray Or Sandy!
Of you get a lawyer, please let us all know and add it to the class action lawsuit. We need help please. These crooks should go to prison!!!
We traded in our older yukon for a saturn outlook whicj they said it had awd NOT they were rude and pushy boyfriend simply told them what we wanted and got into it and up in my boyfriends face got 3 others involved . Now after we had our own finnancing come to find out it doesnt have 4 wd and we contacted them they say sorry but now were upside down in it and cant get out of it cause now we need bigger and no 4wd out past park city is bad news in the winter . Dont go there they are crooked…….
*** Illegal and Fraudulent activities take place at this dealership***
In July 2012 i went into the dealership to trade my 2006 Dodge Charger in for a car that would fit my soon to be newborn twins and two teenagers and for a lower car payment. They took my trade in keys immediately and was shown a recently traded in 2005 Dodge Durango. I was pumped because it was black and it had a third row. Next was the nightmare of negotiation for the vehicle. I offered $500 after saying over and over again i did not have a down payment and was using my trade as my down. They offered to match my down with $500 and showed me a payment that in all honesty I was not comfortable with but accepted as I knew my current car would not allow for the size of my family. I also caved because i sat in the dealership for about 6 hrs and was exhausted and just wanted the whole experience to be over with. The end agreed amount was $13K, I went in with Ozzy to sign paperwork, was asked to sign a blank contract and when i asked about it I was told that everyone has to so that if there were any mistakes then i wouldnt have to come in and resign paperwork. In September a representative from the lender reviewed the loan information with me and i noticed that the end loan amount that had been financed was $15.9K …. uh way higher than the $13K I had on my bill of sale.I also noticed that there had been GAP insurance added to the loan and i had declined it as well as never recieved any information or documentation regarding it. I faxed the information to the representative and then never heard anything back. I recieved a letter from the dealership around the same time asking me to contact my salesman or the lender as they needed to conduct a review. I diregarded the letter as I had already talked with the lender. November 19th i recieve a letter from the lender that NAP had purchased my contract back- probably because they were being fradulent- and that i would need to contact them with any questions. I reached out to John in confusion and was not provided a solid reason as to why I no longer had a loan with the initial lender who had funded my loan and recieved several payments from me. I was told he would need to look for further financing and that he would get back in touch with me. A couple of days go by and I get a call from John stating that we need to get this loan taken care of or they would be coming to get the car and will sell it. WTF!!*#! I informed him that it would be difficult for me to come in due to having had my twins premature and taking care of them at home after being in the NICU for a month. He showed no concern and and continued to express that I needed to come in and bring a paystub and proof of my residence. At that point I knew something was not feeling right and contacted a lawyer to discuss my rights. I am still in the process of resolving the problem. I reached out to the lender and they informed me that three days prior the dealer had submitted a loan request of which i have been approved for a 2010 Honda Accord… for $20K. Wow.. that will not fit me, two teenagers and newborn twins.. not sure what they are thinking and i am very sure that I have no interest in a $20K loan. I really should not have to be dealing with this problem- this whole thing is fault of the dealership providing fraudulent amounts to the lender. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this dealership.

Will NEVER go here again!!! Went in 3 months ago looking to trade in my car. Wasn’t happy with the trade they offered so I left. Then a couple of weeks ago they called wanting to work on a deal and promised they would save us money so we went back. They now offered us 5,000 dollars less trade then when we went in 3 months ago. To say I was mad was an understatement!!!!!! They were looking to screw us hard and manipulated the numbers to make it not look so bad! They would not listen to any thing I would say. Every car they would show us was way over the price I told them I wanted to spend. And it was hard to get the price of the car out of them in the first place!!!! It was very irritating to have my time and gas wasted!!! Would not recommend to anyone!!! Take your business other places you’ll be better off!!! I will never ever go back that’s for sure!!!!!
I purchased a vehicle from NAP a few months ago and within two and a half weeks, my window regulator went out and my left turn signal was on the blitz. I took the car to its maker’s dealership about the signal which they fixed at a fraction of the price but I brought the vehicle back to NAP about the regulator and got the run around for 3 weeks. They would not just give me a solid answer as to whether they were going to fix the vehicle or not. Finally after going back and forth to a mechanic they referred me to and to the NAP dealerships in Murray and Sandy for three weeks, they said they were not going to cover the repair. They said they didn’t make any money off the sale of the vehicle. Now I see why they were eager to get rid of it and gave me the “deal” that they did. I honestly should have kept my old car. It was paid off and did not in the ten years that I owned it, give me nearly as many problems as this car has in a few months. The latest issue is the coolant light keeps coming on and my heat doesn’t work so that will be more money coming out of my pocket. Take my advice, if you are shopping for a vehicle, do not do it at this “lemon” shop called National Auto Plaza. Jeremy, my salesperson, was very kind though and should consider going to work for a more reputable dealership before NAP destroys his reputation. I work in media so I come into contact with a lot of people and have had at least twenty to thirty people ask me where I got my car and I advise them NOT to even consider National Auto Plaza. I wish I had read reviews before going there myself because the general consensus seems to be the same. BUYER BEWARE!!

Worst car buying experience EVER. Mike is a LIAR. Not one single thing that he said the whole time dealing with him was true. If you are in the market for a car, and wanting to stop at this place, do yourself a HUGE favor and keep on driving. I’m sure you could never find a worse car buying experience. Save yourself the trouble.
Bought a truck from NAP and htere were a couple of things wrong that got noted so they could fix them. Upon taking the truck home, many more things began to show up the very next day. Called back and told Mike they needed to fix these things. They have had this vehicle for a week now, and still don’t have these repairs done. Also was given the sales line about the 120 point inspection. HAHA. What a joke that is. Asked the salesman for that report that shows what they look at. They claim it isn’t documented. Because it isn’t done. Like i said before, everything that came out of this kids mouth was a lie.
DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM NATIONAL AUTO PLAZA!!!!!!!
You will get a LEMON, and they won’t care all the way to the bank with your money. The only reason they get any stars in the rating process is because it says you have to give at least one star. They deserve none in anything but greeting. All smiles until you call them out on selling you a piece of crap painted to look like a diamond.
We were out looking for vehicles on a recent trip to SLC, and our first stop was NAP. We were greeted by Sergio, who was very friendly, and he explained that because of our credit situation we should get “pre-approved” and then work backwards to save time. We figured it couldn’t hurt to look.
After sitting for at least 45 minutes he asked me to sign an agreement to pay if they can get us this price contract, it seemed a little outrageous.
We sat for another 45 minutes and he returned with keys to a few vehicles. All the vehicles he tried to show us were vehicles that we specifically said we were not interested in, at ALL. Finally we drove one. Seemed like a good vehicle, we agreed that we would like to get it.
Back to the dealer, another hour wait and he came back with a pricing agreement. WAY above what we told him we were comfortable paying. We told him that we needed a minute to talk it over and went outside. (we should have left while we were ahead)
We ended up doing all of the paperwork and taking the vehicle home. The check engine light turned on minutes after we pulled out of the lot (what about the 150 point inspection test that they promise they did? )
We live 200 miles away and about 50 miles from home the car broke. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper.
I called the next morning, a Monday to ask what out options were to fix the problem. After having to make numerous calls, getting bounced from person to person, and hung up on THREE TIMES, I finally demanded to speak to someone in the service department.
Bryan was extremely pleasant to work with, and got right on top of the situation. (that is the only good thing that I have to say about working with them!!)
Further research revealed that the car is a LEMON!!!! And I called to tell them that I was no longer interested in the deal we had discussed, a sales manager told me that we could honor the 7 day return something or other and that it wasn’t needed in writing because all they are concerned with is customer satisfaction.
Today the car was picked up, and another was left in turn for me to drive until it is repaired. The car that was left ALSO has check engine lights on, with absolutely no gas in it. I am refusing to drive it for fear that I will be charged for the mileage or any damages they might find wrong with it on return to the dealer.
I have received several phone calls from the salesman, and finance people about sending in the rest of the required information. WE are also refusing to do that, we didn’t have our paycheck stubs on us and we were supposed to fax them. After all this nonsense, I am glad I have not done so yet. When I talked to them earlier today, they said that we can EXCHANGE the vehicle, but they cannot just refund our down payment because the financing has already gone through. HOW CAN THEY DO THAT WITHOUT OUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
I spoke to a lawyer and he told us that we can refuse the car. I am praying that this will work out, we might lose some of the down payment in charges for the miles for the ride home, but that to me is a win if we can get the HELL away from this crooked dealership.
I am extremely disappointed and I WILL NOT recommend this dealer to anyone!!
Did it happen to be a Dodge Caliber?
**NAP IS BAD NEWS**
Matt seemed like a really nice guy. I got the impression he really wanted to make a sale, and in the process would help me out. I had a specific car I was looking at and a specific deal I wanted. I don’t have great credit by a long shot, but with all of the advertisements I’ve heard and seen about NAP explaining that they could help anybody, I thought they’d be able to make it work.
When I arrived I got a friendly greeting, that’s where anything positive at NAP ended. Matt took my keys so his techs could look at my vehicle and assess the value. I was slightly amazed because the value they gave it lined up nicely with what I expected. This is when I started getting suspicious, every other dealership I spoke with quoted me a third less than NAP. I later figured out that they planned to jack up the cost on my purchase by $2000 so that the trade appeared to be on the level, but just meant I paid $2000 on my loan.
The car I wanted was not on the lot, so Matt decided to show me a few cars on the lot before we visited the vehicle I wanted. After turning down 6 vehicles I had no interest in, the vehicle I actually wanted was then considered. We traveled to the vehicle, I drove it, loved it, exactly what I expected. Then headed back to NAP to work on the deal.
At this point Matt asked me to sign a “Agreement to buy if terms are met” document. However, the document had a few problems. The wrong car was listed on the document. When I say “wrong car” I don’t mean he’d listed a car we looked at and I didn’t like. He’d listed a car that we hadn’t even LOOKED at. I made mention of this and he corrected it to one of the cars we looked at that was on the lot, not the car we drove out to look at that I actually wanted. I made mention of that as well. He scowled and changed it to the ACTUAL car I wanted. Finally, the wrong down payment was listed as well, he just put a thin line through it with his pen.
So I sign the document that says “If you can get these terms, with this down, with this monthly, I will buy this vehicle.” At this point I’ve been at NAP for about 1.5 hours. He still has my keys and I notice that my trade they are assessing the value on, hasn’t moved an inch. I was a little concerned but thought “well…maybe they assessed it while we were gone and moved it back to exactly where it was…exactly how I parked it…”
30 minutes pass.
I sit and wait for Matt to work out the deal. He comes back with a down payment that’s 10 times the amount I initially requested. No big deal, can’t dock him points for trying. I tell him that I cannot afford that and that I can afford what I told him initially. He leaves to work on the deal again.
45 minutes pass.
He returns with another down payment offer that is only 5 times as much as what I asked for. Again, I tell him I can’t afford it and can only afford the down I mentioned. Getting a little frustrated now.
45 more minutes pass.
Matt returns to tell me there’s no way I can get the vehicle I want and that I should settle for this other thing they have on the lot. I tell him, again since this is the second time he’s shown me this car, that I don’t want that car. Now I’ve been sitting here for well over 3 hours, with maybe half of that time actually spent on the vehicle that I wanted, only to find out there’s no way on it’s happening. I tell him I’ve seen enough and that I need to get back to work. He just needs to grab my keys.
45 more minutes pass.
He comes back, without my keys, to show me ANOTHER vehicle I didn’t want. A van this time, which I had expressed ZERO interest in whatsoever. I tell him I’m not interested and that I want my keys back.
20 minutes pass.
He comes back to show me ONE more car, and it’s the deal of a life time. I humor him, walk outside, look at the car, thank him and tell him it’s not what I want, I really appreciate his help, and that I want my keys so I can leave. My keys are FINALLY returned to me. I run for my life.
The next day I get a call from NAP that they have “Great news for me and to call back asap!” Holy crap. They worked out my deal and now I can get the car I want.
Nope. It turns out the “client relations” guy just saw that my lead had died and he wanted to try to sell me the same 6 cars I already looked at. I explained I didn’t want those cars, but if the deal I wanted was available I’d be in today to pick up the car I wanted. He told me he was sure he could make it happen. I never heard from this person again. Even after calling him twice and leaving VMs to follow up.
Stay away from NAP. There was enough funny stuff going on in there that I wouldn’t trust any of them as far as I could throw them. My impression was that they never had any intention of selling me the car I was looking for. The car I wanted was only considered after I made it VERY clear that I wasn’t looking for an instant gratification purchase.
Writing a quick response as an update. Basically NAP did 9 hard requests on my credit, making it impossible for me to get a loan any where because if you have more then 8 hard requests in 25 months you become a “high risk” candidate for lending. This is because lenders assume that since you’ve had so many hard requests on your credit that your spending beyond your limit, which isn’t the case at all for me. My own bank won’t even give me a loan now because of this. Good times, thanks NAP!
I know I was taken by you Vlad as you walked arrogantly walked away from me last year staying (in your on exact word), “Yes, we sold you a lemon”. Interestingly enough, I doubt you realized you and NAP would soon be under the radar. Ready to make good yet? I know I am ready to proceed if you do not. I went into NAP interested in a Murano they had listed for $23k with intention of trading in my subaru impreza. I received a great trade in value for my impreza, however they attempted to jack the price of the Murano up $4000. Luckily I had the original ad saved on my phone. Once we agreed on a price and financing I bought a warranty through them, in which the sales manager promised me a rental vehicle if the car needed warranty work.
I was obviously lied too. Ive had to have several warranty repairs done. Luckily one was covered under nissan, the other I had to go through NAP and pay for my own rental car.
The entire staff is unwilling to help you when you have questions and pass your around between sales people and the secretary (who has a lovely tattoo on her tits that she proudly shows to the world. Real professional).
So my husband and I were looking to buy a new car and he had purchased his last car from them so we figured we would try here. We weren’t really allowed to look at the cars, they just did paperwork to see what we qualified for. Jeremy kept reminding us that it didn’t matter which car we chose because he earned a certain commission just off of selling the car, not off the price it was sold at which made me feel uneasy because it felt like he was trying to get us into a costly car. At first, it was this tiny car that looking back we should have taken. We decided to think about it and come back. Strangely enough, the day we came back it was like oh you qualify for this car now too which we really liked but only had enough gas to take it around the block. It seemed to work fine and they gave us an ‘estimate’ of our monthly payments which I felt were too high but it felt like we couldn’t back out now, we picked that car and weren’t told the selling price until we were sitting in the financial office signing papers.
Come to find out after the fact, the tires are completely bald and since they are low profile we were looking at around $1000. Our warning system kept going off which we did go to a VW dealer and they said it was just the battery. Now the engine light is on, only after having the car maybe 2 1/2 months and it shakes incredibly bad when you go above 50 MPH which we did not know because we could only take it around the block going 30 MPH.
We decided that with all the issues we could really not afford this car, so we take it to them and now our credit is too bad to trade it in with them(which no our credit kind of sucks but it was enough to get the car in the first place with them) and we need to wait. So we take the car to another car dealership because we need to get rid of it and they inform us that the car has frame damage! That dropped the value of the car to half of what we paid for it, putting losses at around $10,000.
We went back to Jeremy and said he sold us a car with frame damage and we can’t afford it. He said he had NO clue it had frame damage and he told us to go with the other car in the first place and blah blah blah. We have filed with BBB, MVED, and are going to consult his uncle who is a lawyer about this. I will NEVER recommend them to anyone, even if they were my worst enemy. They are shady, lying, greedy people.
The exceptionally shady sales tactics, lies, and harassment from National Auto Plaza Sandy Location needs to be investigated. Avoid at all costs!
I went in to buy a vehicle and trade in a vehicle at the same time, on 4/20/2012 at 6:30 pm.
Through the evening, the salesperson took my trade in truck keys, I had to ask for them several times. I couldnt leave when i wanted, they held my keys hostage. He also took my trade vehicles registration out of the glovebox without permission. When I saw them with it, He said it was for evaluating the trade. I later asked if He had put it back, He lied and said He had, while He kept it in the salesmans office desk drawer. I had to return the next morning for it.
Salesman was John Panos 18012322311
During the evening,I was transferred to a sales manager, that I could not work out a deal with, and I left. The next day I received several harassing phone calls, with screaming vulgar language, and when I asked for a managers number I was lied to and given a false number. The name and number given was Joe Guindon 18012083720, which is a fax machine. I later got a number for Mr. Glindon as 1801-545-9292 . This Sales manager was Peter Bublick, the harassing phone calls received from his personal number, 1801-208-3720, on 4/21/12 at 16:05, 16:07, 16:09. Another was recieved from the sales desk, from 8015459292 at 16:58.
***DO NOT GO TO NATIONAL AUTO PLAZA, IF I CAN STOP ONE PERSON FROM HAVING TO GO THROUGH WHAT I DID I WILL BE HAPPY*****
One star is too much for these guys. I was looking to up grade from current jeep and had $1,500 saved up as a down payment so I figured I’d check these guys out.
To start off with if Edin worked for me he would have been fired a long time ago. I’m not one of those guys that gets upset with foul language and stuff like that but he went a little over board with it. It seemed like he went out of his way to swear as much as possible, and not just in normal conversation either. He was ragging on the mechanics and their ethnicity and how funny it was to mess with them because they can’t speak English very well. To go with my last statement about fowl language I also am non active LDS and he continued on to be rude about the religion and beliefs of the religion as well as complaining how many complaints he has gotten because of his language from customers he has helped in the past getting personal enough to throw out names of those customers and insulting them. I made it pretty clear I was not comfortable with this and it still continued to happen. He also on two separate occasions, (after being told she wasn’t) called my fiance pregnant and how nice it is to get a new car when your expecting. Overall horrible experience with him.
We test drove a car that we liked, (He wouldn’t let me take it more then a block away, red flag one) and I was fine with seeing if we could qualify for it. The car we test drove was listed online for $8,995 and with the trade in (I was expecting to get around $3,500 for it) and my $1,500 down payment I figured we could get in it with no problems because my credit, while not perfect, is pretty good. After about an hour of I’ll be right back, and I’m working for you they came back and said we would need a cosigner. I was fine with this assuming not only would I be able to get the vehicle I wanted but I would also get a lower interest rate. We found a co-signer and the deal was approved. As we sat down in the sales office They showed me a paper saying the price of the vehicle was $15,995, that I had to put down $2,200 in bank fee’s, a monthly payment of $398, and they were only going to give me $2,000 for my trade that blue books for trade in value as $4,120. (I told them I only had $500 as a down payment and I wanted $200 a month payment, with no more then 11% interest rate)
Now as you can tell this is no where near the limits I gave them and at that point I made that clear but he continued to push. Over and over again they ignored that I was saying what I could do and that they should honor the price on the website. After not giving me an answer and me saying it’s time to go, he finally responded with this happens all the time we had 2 of these and one sold already and continued to push the price on me. This of course made my blood boil and I was done. He told me he could work on the deal and get it closer to where we want to be and finish it up tomorrow.
The next day after hearing how the situation and what happened the co-signer we had declined signing the paperwork saying she didn’t want to do business with a company like that.
When I called Edin to inform him of this and to see what my options were he immediately went into defense mode and told me it’s too late, I had already agreed and everything had been submitted and the loan had gone through. This was only the beginning of my 3 days of adventure I was about to go on.
He told me he had the title to my trade in, (I had left it so and I quote “could keep all the paper work together” and he was refusing to help with anything else.
I then drove up there and talked to the Sales Manager Jake, Let him know how Edin had been and what he had said and the situation, and he came back with the same response. He however did offer his assistance to help including writing the down payment as a loss to the company and getting the loan closer to what I could afford and in his words get me the deal of a lifetime for a price I won’t be able to believe.
I figured I could give this a shot but for the time being I would like to get my title back. Instantly they stopped caring. Everything I said after that they could have gave a sh*t less. All they could tell me what the title is with the paperwork in financing and they keep that locked and apparently only one person has a key, so I sucked it up and decided to go back the next day to see his deal of a lifetime.
The next day I show up right after they open a little angry from the day before and ready to get everything finished up either way. I walk in and ask for Jake per his instruction, and he has the day off. Needless to say I am done with this place at this point and just want my title back and be done with it. This guy now tells me none of my information has even been passed on it’s just been sitting waiting for the signatures. I tell this sales manager (Brian or something like that)that all I want is my title and he says right after a chuckle, “We couldn’t make anything work for you anyway.” It took everything in my body not to sucker punch this guy off his high horse. He then just like the other 2 insisted I couldn’t get my title until this other guy came it.
After 4 calls, 2 voicemails, and no call back concerning my title I drove back up there again to speak to my favorite person in the world. This time I walked straight up to him and told him he was refusing to give me his title. He then tried to get out of it again by saying one sec I’ll look right into if for you, and I got a he’s still not here I can’t get it. I lost it at this point and said again so your refusing to give me my title, this guy then has the nerve to answer an incoming call on his cell phone. I then said it one more time louder as their office was really busy and I wanted to make sure everyone who was interested in buying from them knew what they were getting in to. I then told them my next step is calling the Sandy Police Department. After that statement was uttered it couldn’t have been 5 minutes and I had the title in my hand and the contract shredded.
****DO NOT GO HERE THEY ARE JUST AFTER YOUR MONEY******
i want to ecou8rage you to lodge a complaint with the better business bureau. I did. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
I also filed a complaint with the BBB.
horrible sales people that make you sign BLANK contracts. Very dishonest and lied. Took advantage and didn’t care that I couldn’t make the payment just wanted the sale/commission. Would never do business with them again.
Absolutely terrible services. Lies, lies, and more lies. They will waste your time and then your frustration might get the best of you–but don’t give in! We sure didn’t. Go somewhere else.
I can’t speak to their service when trying to purchase a car because I was just trying to sell my car to them. I had received an offer from another car dealership in the area and called to ask if they thought they could beat it.
Matt told me over the phone that he though it would be possible and he spoke to his used car manager who said that they wanted my car.
I decided to make the 30 minute drive to Sandy since it sounded like they would be able to make me a better offer. I had been to another dealership in the area that buys cars and it had only taken 30 minutes to get their offer. I was expecting something similar at National Auto Plaza.
After an hour I was given an offer that was better than the other offer I had been given. I asked them to put it in writing so my husband and I could come back up later that evening to finish out the deal. I was told both by Matt and by the manager that I didn’t need the offer in writing because they “don’t play games” and it wouldn’t be a problem at all.
Both of them tried to get me to go through with the deal right then even though I didn’t have the title with me and I didn’t have a way to get back home. I was told that one of their technicians could drive me home and that it was fine that I didn’t have the title with me, that I could just bring it back up sometime.
I didn’t feel comfortable with that offer so I called my husband to see if he would be willing to leave work to grab the title and come meet me at the dealership. He said that he was if they would increase the offer by $100 to compensate for our time.
When I talked to Matt about what my husband said, he told me that he didn’t think it would be a problem but that he needed to go check. Prior to this he was asking me what it would take to do the deal right now and had asked if I would be willing to do it if they increased the offer $100 so it really had been his idea.
Well after waiting for awhile longer Matt came back over to let me know what they had decided and he told me they no longer wanted my car.
I was furious that I had just waisted 30 minutes driving up to Sandy and by the end of it all 2 hours sitting around at the dealership and then another 30 minutes to drive back home. I left the dealership and was so upset that I ended up in tears in my car as I was leaving.
I would strongly encourage anyone who is thinking of doing business of any kind with this dealership to reconsider and look elsewhere for a place to sell or buy a car.
Avoid this dealer at all costs. Worst Decision ever. I spent almost 2 hours with the “salesmen” and came to a reasonable agreement only to be passed to the finance guy where the agreed price was inflated to twice that of the blue book value. They essentially stole my trade in with these tactics. They asked me to sign a blank contract. They also asked me to sign a “promise to buy agreement”. These are Extremely Sleazy Tactics. I have been trying for 4 months now to get a refund on the warranty I didn’t want in the first place and they say they have sent a check to my lender, but my lender hasn’t received anything.
ROB
They did the same thing to me on 4/9/12. I don’t know if you’ll see this or it’ll help but they told me I had signed, everything had been submitted, I was stuck in a $16,000 car loan, and that my trade was theirs and they were refusing to give me my title. After 4 trips there, 3 days and a bunch of complaining. I ended up telling their sales manager (Chris or something like that) That I was sick of all the run around and my next step is calling sandy police department. Not even five minutes later I had my title in hand and the contract shredded. Maybe you can try something similar, this seems to happen alot, I seen 3 people complaining about the same thing while I was there. Good Luck
Cameron,
Yeah, I filed a complaint with the better business bureau. I haven’t seen any resolution to my complaint. I should have involved the police or a lawyer.
You can file a complaint with the enforcement division of the MVED. They will investigate
National auto plaza is definitely the scavengers of auto sales. Watch out they will ask you to sign a blank contract DONT SIGN IT! their warrantys are expensive and u can get GAP from your bank they make money from their backend stuff they add like warranty, gap, etch NO to mention they act like hungry hyenas! I DONT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!
I too was stuck with a vehicle that broke down within 2 weeks. I called the dealership and went in as well only to be told the exact words: Hmmm we sold you a lemon! Needless to say I am stuck with a reposession on my record now because I could not afford to move the dead peice oif metal out of my driveway when I moved due to thier faulty vehicle. SCAMMERS! If anyone pursues further action against this dealership PLEASE add me and contact me, I would love to get justice
Place is a complete joke! Dealt with 5 different people, each person told me a different price on the car I bought, price kept going up and up, had the check engine light on, dealership wouldn’t run the code to tell me what was going on with the car, the sales mans kept pushing other cars on me I had no interest in, after hours of waiting to get the paper work done, i was told the car I wanted was AWD come to find out after I signed the paperwork it was FWD I was extremely mad at this point and the sales manager didn’t care because I had already signed the paperwork, the sale men I took the test drive with didn’t know anything about the car! I drive this car 300 miles home with the check engine light on I head to auto zone the next day, car has a mis fire in cylinder 1, the heater doesn’t work, AC is Luke warm, break pads and disks are shot and it burns oil like crazy so i call the dealership and they basically tell me to get Fu*ked so now I have to get all these problems fixed with a cost of out of my own pocket and I’m $6,000 in the hole with this car and I got $2,500 towards the car with my trade in so I wasn’t upside down with the car I traded in, seriously don’t they check there used cars before they put them on the lot?! Don’t waste you’re time at this place, they don’t care about the customer, nor do they care about cars! All they want to do is take you for all they can like they did me, don’t fall for it!
Totally screwed me over. Telling the story just pisses me off. It echoes everyone else’s. Ozzy was absolutely horribly mean when I tried to return the car that they sneaked an extra $3000 dollars onto while I wasn’t looking. But it didn’t matter, I signed the paper. I got the conversation recorded secretly on my iPhone and the company didn’t even care about the way he treated me. The whole business should be shut down. They are the most dishonest people I have ever met. My car doesn’t even freaking work. They sold me a car that has so many freaking problems and they refuse to fix it. Do not even drive by this place, let alone pull into the parking lot.
The salesman lied about the car not being in an accident. Found out after the fact that it had. The finance guy lied about the interest rate and payments. Two weeks after I bought the car I had to come back in and sign new papers for the loan. They told me the only thing that had changed was the interest rate and payment but that was also a lie. They changed the cash downpayment amount without telling me so now I owe them more money. VERY CROOKED dealership.
This is the most dishonest manipulative dealership I have ever dealt with. Their word is worth spit, they do not do what they say, I would have an attorney present if you are going to deal with these people or you will get screwed.
Great salesperson. Amer was very honest, he recommended us not to buy a jeep that we were looking at because it was bad. After being stubborn me and my wife, he was actually right. We took it to the mechanic and he said its bad. We appreciated that alot. He didn’t give us the price at the begginning which didn’t make any sense to us at all. After we drove the car and thought its gonna be the same as everyone else, make us like the car and then hit us high, we were surprised that the price made alot of sense. He showed us the book and sold us the vehicle at an amazing price. I would recommend him to anyone… 😉
National Auto Plaza of Murray is the BEST!!! I tried buying a truck everywhere in town and KC and Marco were the only guys that were willing to help me! I applied thru the Internet and KC and Marco went out of there way to help me out of a very tough situation! They helped me when I was down and they have a customer for life! Thx guys!
I went into National Auto Plaza to see the trade in price of my husbands truck. The manager came out looked it over, pushed some buttons on the dash, kicked the tires and told me he would call me later that night to let me know how much they would buy it for. Of course they never called us, so my husband called the next morning and they said to come back so they could have another look. We went inside and they totally disregarded our question, for the worth of the truck, and they started asking us what cars we were looking to buy. Finally after telling them a million times that we just wanted to know how much the trade in value my husband finally just pointed to a mazda rx8 and said that one looked nice. We had seen it earlier on their website and it said it was 10,000. So they got the keys and wanted to take it for a test run with him..they went out and the battery was dead. So they came back in and we sat with them to talk numbers. They told us they would buy our truck for 9,000 and sell us the mazda for 18,000….9.000 dollar difference. My husband laughed and said he definitely knows his truck is worth more than that and that he saw that the mazda was priced at 10000 on their website…they said they only do that to get traffic. So my husband of course called them out on false advertisement and they totally denied it. They said they would prove that his truck was only worth about 7000 ( A 2003 4X4 black dodge ram with a lift kit and in excellent condition). He left and came back with no paper or proof of the worth of his truck. Then he said that he would give us the mazda for 16000 and buy the truck for 7000…still 9000 dollar difference. My husband said he knew what sales tactics they were trying to do and that he wanted to see the KBB value of his truck. So they said they would get it. About 2 other sales men came out trying the same old song and dance and then when my husband called them out on their crap they sent out the manager…who STILL didn’t have the KBB value of his truck in hand. He tried asking us how he can get our business and my husband just said all he wanted was the trade in value of his truck. The manager got a little upset and asked why we didn’t just ask that in the first place instead of just wasting all of his and his salemens time. My husband said that is exactly what he asked for at the very start and pointed out that I had come in the day before and he, the manager, had been the one to look over the truck and NO ONE would answer our question. So my husband told him that they need to do a better job in listening to the customer and that their add on the radio was bogus that they would purchase a vehicle for 3000 more than it’s worth. My husband had looked at the KBB value of his truck and it was 10,500…the manager said he could buy those for 5000 all day. So that insulted my husband and his intelligence…we will never EVER go there again. And, just fyi NAP my husband sold his truck for 10,000 dollars. I will definitely never recommend this place to anyone. Ever.
These guys were great to work with!!! I shop the internet to get the best deal! KC made the buying a car over the internet as easy as I could imagine! He found the vehicle that I wanted, even though it wan’t on his lot, and brought it in from out of town for me! I have been looking for a Toyota Sequoia for 9 months and KC found exactly what I was looking for!!! He didn’t pressure me and treated me like family! I will definately buy from National Auto Plaza of Murray again and will send all of my friends and family to buy from KC!
Thanks for posting your experience. Because of what you wrote, I went into National Auto Plaza of Murray and worked with KC and Marco as well! They were awesome and got me my new Tacoma!
This almost sounds like something that the salesman’s wife sent in to try to make this dealership look better.
Definite dealership response lol
YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!! Thanks so much I Love my Truck Everyone at National are just down to earth people. You won a customer for life I’ll be back and so will my friends….
Thanks Again
Bullcrap… You probably work for NAP…
They lied to me about the 120 pt inspection (they didn’t do one, nor do they even have one). They lied to me about the warranty (limited coverage and $200 deductible). My salesperson Ray told me straight up the warranty covered anything that failed not due to owner negligence. The limited coverage and the deductible were never mentioned until the papers had already been signed. In two months with my car I have found 3 major problems that would have been caught with any true safety/emissions inspection. The speedometer didn’t work, the horn didn’t work, and the defrost vents don’t blow air. They want almost $800 dollars to fix the defrost vents because there was no documentation it was broke when they sold me the car. There was no documentation because they didn’t check anything! They don’t have documentation about the speedometer and horn, but luckily I noticed those both really quickly. (The speedometer obviously as I left the lot, the horn within a week) The whole sales tactic was the 120 pt inspection, which after refusing the car for a day and being shown to 3 different people, I was told that if I looked on the utah highway safety patrol website that they do ‘at least all of that’. This was the head mechanic (brian) who told me that. How does he train the mechanics to do the inspection if there is no list of what to do?? It’s all a lie. STAY FAR AWAY
I bought a truck from NAP and it was the worst decision I have ever made. They made promises that were never fulfilled and the General Manager even said that his floor manager was a liar and that his word meant nothing. I took my truck in there for four weeks in a row and just got lies and the run around. I would call and the receptionist would lie and tell me that John wasn’t there and 30 minutes later I would walk in and he would be sitting at his desk. This same scenario happened with the GM, Floyd. They will tell you anything and try to make you feel inadequate and dumb.
They had promised to pay me back for window tint and also repairs that had to be done the day after I bought it. It totaled around $500 and they only gave me $95. On top of that they rigged the numbers the day that I bought it and I didn’t catch it until after. They ripped me off about $2500 on the initial sale and then promised me a warranty for $2400 that I have yet to see.
I have written Kolby Hansen, owner and operator, and I have never heard anything back from him. I have been very disappointed in Kolby Hansen and his shamefully run business National Auto Plaza.
I have written reviews and I am going to be reporting to the BBB and the MVED on this terrible business. I am also currently speaking with my lawyer about possible actions against this place.
Hope this helps, unless you like getting RAPED, don’t even step foot on there property.
This is the worst company in existence! My husband had heard an ad on the radio for National Auto Plaza and their 125% or $3000 on trade ins. We went to their dealership in Sandy just to look at their selection, because I had been wanting to get a new car. They talked us in to getting out of our car to come in and talk and see what I was pre-approved for. I told Chuck, the salesman, that I was thinking about getting a crossover, but I wasn’t exactly sure which kind I wanted. He was very nice and we test drove several crossovers until I saw the 2005 Volkswagon Touareg. I thought for sure it was out of my price range, but Chuck said, “It couldn’t hurt to try.” So, we went into the salesman’s office to see if I could get the Touareg and Chuck said, “I’m going to have Ozzy come in, because he’s a better closer than me.” I didn’t really think much of it. We have another care that we would like to sell and that was making it so we can only pay a certain amount a month, to which this Ozzy told us that because my husband’s credit isn’t the best it was okay to default on our loan and get the car repossed because the economy is so bad and everyone is doing it. We told him my husband’s grandfather was a cosigner and he said that was okay because the grandpa is old and they won’t do anything to old people. I just let that slide and I told Ozzy what kind of payments I was willing to do and that I didn’t want to put any money down. We went back and fourth a few times and finally got “The deal of the year” according to their finance guy. We agreed, signed the contract and left with an awesome car.
Two weeks later, I received a couple letters in the mail from banks stating that they would not finance me for that much money and then I finally got a notice in the mail stating that I had 14 days to return the car. Of course, I was furious. They had told me I was pre approved for this amount and that this was my car. This is when all the drama and hell started.
I called Marco in their financing department and he told me that I should try to get approved by myself through my credit union, which isn’t something I wanted to do, since that’s not what we had agreed on in the first place. I asked him if he could drop the price of the car to what I was approved for and he said he couldn’t do that because they already had negative equity from my trade in. So, after talking to my husband, who was more mad than I was, we decided to return the car and go get a different one somewhere else. We went into the dealership and my husband made a comment to another customer saying, “Be careful, they’ll promise you something just to get you to take the car and then they don’t actually do it. Just be careful, man.” This, apparently, pissed off Ozzy and he came up to my husband and told him he had a “puny mind” and threatened to call the police. All of which did not phase my husband. Ozzy walked off and a bald man named John introduced himself as the General Manager and told us he would fix everything. He said that would reprimand Ozzy and possibly fire him and that day was Marco’s last day in financing. He told me his word was gold and when he got involved things got approved. He said he would personally take care of this and call me on Monday. I never receievd a call from this John guy, so I called and he had “been in meetings all day” but was just about to call me (yeah, right). He said he was still working on it and would get back to me. I didn’t hear from him on Monday or by the end of the day on Tuesday, so I called again Wednesday. The receptionist said that John no longer worked there and that he wasn’t the General Manager, he was in fact only the Sales Manager.
I received a phone call on Thursday from Marco, who was still in the finance department, and he said that he had never heard anything from that John guy about him working on my loan. Marco ended up calling my credit union and having to drop the price of the car $5000 so that I would be approved, which is what I asked them to do when I first called them a week prior.
I got the car that I wanted, but had to jump through hoops and go through hell to get it. In my opinion, I don’t think this dealership should be open. They tell you anything you want to hear and bully you if you try to argue. They’re liars and scam artists and don’t like when they are caught with their tales between their legs.
Their prices are jacked up and their salesmen are arrogant and rude.
Just go somewhere else and save yourself the stress and hassle.
I feel like they took very good care of me and found away to meet all of my needs.I’d recommend them to everyone.I got the best deal I ever got in over thirty years of buying cars….Thank you National Auto Plaza!!!!!Customer for life….Jay Price…:)
This place is the stereotypical used car lot. They employ every manipulation tactic they can think of. You have to be very knowledgeable and strong willed to not get completely screwed over. Do not believe anything they tell you.. demand that they prove everything! You need to see the speck sheet of the car you want..you need them to show you what data they used to factor your trade in value and do NOT let them try and commit you to a monthly payment before you have even figured your interest rate. If you don’t feel comfortable arguing with people…don’t come here or you will get taken. I love my car and I’m happy with the numbers of the deal but it took some serious negotiation that not everyone is comfortable with. So Buyer Beware…they are are tricky bunch.
Watch out for these guys.
I was pressured into buying a car that was way off my budget. Nothing was explained to me and I have never experienced that kind of pressure to buy before. I was desperate and they knew it. I was their perfect bait. Within one hour I was signing a contract that wasn’t clearly explained to me. I was told that I had to buy a new car because my credit is terrible. He told me that if the car were to be repossessed, it would be easy to sell again. I have learned the most terrible lesson of my life by signing a contract and will have to live with this the rest of my life. I was sold a car that I didn’t pick myself and wouldn’t have picked it in the first place. The minute I left I wondered what just happened and what in the world I felt forced to do by the sales guy. I returned the car the morning after I got it, begging them to forget the contract, but they refuse. Now I’m left with an $18,000 bill that I can’t afford and no form of transportation. I’m a single mother struggling to make ends meet in the first place. I told the guy I couldn’t have a payment higher than 200.00 max. The car ended up being 380.00 per month. I’ve been called 4 times and threatened that if I don’t get the car they will leave it in my driveway. They have no compassion or understanding.
