This review is actually about the Lia Auto Group as a whole and not specifically one location, although it took place at the Lia Collision Center on central ave, albany.
Lia Collision Center had possession of my car for about two weeks, while it was having body work done from an accident. When I came in to pick it up, after the repairs, my stereo had been stolen from the dashboard. There was a big hole where the stereo used to be, and wires hanging out. This is how they gave my car back to me, and did not say a thing. They acted as if none of their employees noticed it was like this.
I had to run back into the office and get the Manger, Lisa Kaese. When I told her what happened, she was so unprofessional that she actually told me that “well, we can’t be sure that it was not you who came in the night and took your own radio”.
WHAT??? My jaw dropped. Did I just here her correctly? Did she just indirectly accuse me of stealing my own radio? She had no consideration for the theft that had occurred on her property. All she kept saying is that they were not responsible and for me to file a loss with my insurance. This is minutes after I just handed them $3,000 cash to fix my car.
Oddly enough, the “thief” who stole my stereo system was kind enough to re-install the dash again (you have to take apart the dash to remove the radio). How nice of him right? Certainly not the work of a thief who was in a hurry. You do the math.
I am very unhappy with this incident and I hope that anybody who is thinking about doing business with any of the Lia Auto Group dealerships – think again! It could be you next time.
I am VERY surprised to hear such a story!!! I have been a faithful Lia customer for years. I have bought cars from Toyota and Honda. I have also had 3 repairs fixed with the Collision Center. The Collision Center has ALWAYS been more than helpful with helping us handle our claims, expedite the repairs and give us back our vehicles the way they were before the accident. We had a nightmare situation when our 17 year old had a accident with a hit and run. The manager Lisa Kaese helped us research and get information that saved us from having to file a claim with our own Insurance Company. So….I just thought I would also share my experience with the Lia Auto Group. You know what they say for every 1 dissatisfied customer there is usually 20 satisfied out there, we just seem to speak up more when we are upset. I am also in the retail business so I know how hard it is out there.
Elrosenburg,Although I am happy for you that your experience with Lia has been good. However, I still stand by my review, that Lisa Kaese was AWFUL and unprofessional.I agree that a business, of such size, is bound to have some problems from time to time. I am not upset so much at what happened, as I am furious about how it was handled. For one, my Geico Insurance Agent has pictures of my car, taken apart inside the Lia Auto group Collision Center . . .and my car stereo was still inside the car at that time. You can clearly see my stereo inside the car, in the photos because the body shop had removed my passenger door, giving clear view of the dash. That means that there is a high probability that one of the employees at the Collision Center stole my stereo (unless they put my car outside in the lot, with no door?).Secondly, when I reported the “CRIME” to the service tech. He went and told Lsia (in her office) about the incident. She did not even have the nerve to come out of her office and talk to me. I had to tell the service tech (Darby) to make her come out and talk to me. (BTW, Darby was great and it is only Lisa that I feel has poor management skills).Lisa finally came out, and told me “We are not responsible” and for me to “Go file a claim to my car insurance”.Lastly, I was treated as if I was a burden to Lia, and had the responsibility of proving my stereo value, etc . . . It took weeks and begging (on my part) to finally get a replacement. Although, they finally did replace my stereo, it was a HUGE Headache. I felt as if I was pulling teeth from them. Everyone at Lia, took the stance as if they were the victim and I was a thorn in their side.I stand firm: If you take your car to Lia Collision Center, be prepared to have one of their workers STEAL FROM YOU!! And then, be prepared for Lisa to try to cover and protect the thief. I am a business owner as well, and if it was my business, and one of my employees stole from one of my customers . . I would literally turn that place upside down, as I would not want that employee to continue working form me.I literally have photos (from insurance) that prove my stereo was in the car during the body work. I picked up my car the exact day the work was finished. Somewhere along the way, my stereo was stolen . . . oh, and by the way – the thief was kind enough to re-install my dashboard after he/she stole my stereo. (The center dash piece must be taken out to get to the stereo). Certainly was a kind thief to replace the dash and secure it, after he took the stereo. Certainly was not somebody in a hurry, in the middle of the night . . I am mad. I am upset with Lisa’s performance in handling it and making me feel as if I was responsible. I want people to know, and I won’t stop talking about it or spreading the word.Again, I am happy that you have had great experiences. I was not so lucky.
