i brought a new xtrail from this dealership and was very disappointed with the whole process from being ignored in the car park for 15 minutes – when there seemed to be lots of sales people walking around just talking.
The sales man who did eventually come over was very nice and pretty much sold me the vehicle – he knew what he was talking about and we had done our research on the vehicle.
the whole process went very smoothly until it came time to talk to the finance department.
And wow did it go downhill from here very quickly!!!!
We were told that Nissan Finance would payout our other older x-trail which we had traded in – they didnt and we started to get harrassing phone calls saying that we were about to default on our loan and that if we didnt pay immediately that a black mark would go against our name!
They did eventually payout the older car but it took a lot of phone calls, emails & leaving messages (most of the time no one would even bother to ring us back)
But i guess by this stage they already had sold us the new car and the finance side was just a formality !?!
We asked the finance department a question that both my partner and i thought very pertinent
Q:would we be required to payout extra if we paid the loan off earlier than the 5 year contract.
A:there is a $10 per month fee should you wish to pay this out early.
Great we thought as we like to make extra payments owning the car earlier than the 5 year mark.
2 years into the contract we asked for a payout figure and was told that the car was on a chattel mortgage which we had never heard of before.
This means that if you payout the vehicle early then Nissan Finance takes a big cut – $2000 to be exact!
Which is roughly 30% of what they would make if the 5 year mark had been reached.
We have decided to sell the car – payout the $2k on top of the car and NEVER DEAL WITH THIS DEALERSHIP AGAIN
or should i say Nissan Finance
i now go to car warehouses or buy privately as all the bells and whistles of these big dealerships is mostly smoke and mirrors
The price and the atmosphere are excellent. :). However, if you have a problem or just want to contact the sale person, it is a horrible experience for me. I do not know it is the receptionist or the phone system (probably both). I tried to contact the financing guy 4 times and left 4 messages and no one reponse. After I drive home the new car, found some problem, try to contact the sale, unsuccessfully, I requested to talk to the manager and finally got to talk to the sale person.
