I had a great buying experience at Larry Miller Hillsboro Hyundai. I contacted about five dealerships via email. I was looking for a 2011 Hyundai Elantra Touring SE and knew what I wanted to pay. Joseph Doyle from Hillsboro Hyundai responded within a few hours of my email and offered me a very fair price. He sent the VIN number and all the details for the vehicle so I knew he had the particular vehicle. He gave me a very detailed quote and was very responsive to all my questions. The other dealerships tried to pass me off to different salespeople on their staff and they kept changing their offers. I went to Hillsboro Hyundai two days later to purchase the vehicle and Joseph was there to finish the deal. The dealership didn’t pass me off to another sales person. Joseph had the car pulled off the lot and ready to go when I arrived. He was very friendly and easygoing and we got through the paperwork very efficiently. The dealership didn’t try to fudge the final numbers for the sale. They didn’t try and screw with the financing numbers. It was great! I’d recommend checking out this dealership.
The Hillsboro, OR Hyundai dealership advertised three (one black, one white, and one silver) new 2010 Hyundai Accents on their website with prices of $12690 for each of them. The website contains a link to click on for more information about these vehicles. Under this link they posted pictures of an Accent with an automatic transmission and listed a written description which detailed the upgraded options package which was to come with these vehicles.
When I contacted the dealership about these vehicles, a dealership representative named Rick Miller responded. He informed me that the advertised price did not apply to the advertised vehicle. The price applied to a model which has a standard-shift transmission and no upgraded options package. The price for the advertised vehicle was approximately $2000 more.
When I argued with Mr. Miller, pointing out that the advertised vehicle should be sold for the advertised price, he engaged in stall tactics. He first refused to respond directly to my inquiry, quoting prices for vehicles I has not asked about and then insisting that the VINs listed for the cars in question specified that they were the lesser model (as though a customer browsing their website would pull up vehicle reports with the VINs, when they would have no reason to do so, in order to obtain that information). He then insisted that I name a price which would be acceptable to me. When I responded that the advertised price would be acceptable to me, he said he would confer with his supervisor.
On 04/07/2010, Mr. Miller informed me that his supervisor had decreed that the advertised price would not be available for the advertised vehicle, only for the lesser model. When I responded by informing Mr. Miller that if the dealership did not sell the advertised vehicle for the advertised price I would file this complaint, miraculously the vehicle I wished to purchase was no longer in stock at this dealership.
