Our honda element had a problem starting one day and we had received a Recall letter for the ignition about 1-2 week prior. We towed the car to Hoehn and were told the recall had nothing to do with the car not starting and that the after market alarm was probably the issue. He estimated $210. I thought that was high but figured 1-2 hrs was ok for c charge. later that day Ke’shawn talked to my wife explaining the car was very unsafe and needed $2,300 worth of work. the car would not start or drive. after work I showed up and Ke’shawn said nothing about $2,300 but did say the car would not start and wanted to charge me about $990 + tax for a new starter installed. I didn’t like the dishonesty so said I would just have it towed to a mechanic i knew. suddenly Ke’shawn changed the price to $890+; I perssisted no thank you and it went down to $790.
I walked outside and there was my car out front. the one too dangerous to drive; the one that would not start. They would not let us take the car until we paid the $210 but they would gladly roll the $210 into the $790+ tax… My wife arrived and she drove it away. It is still working.
Great job ripping us for $210 and TRYING to rip us off for $2300. with luring us in for a recall. STILL trying to find out if the recall was repaired. the GM pushed us out and said to please call him and now NOBODY at HOEHN will respond to our phone calls.
please tell me if you have other stories people we need to put a stop to HOEHN’s lies and stealing. how many innocent people are ripped off for 10’s of thousands?
please NOTE; I had to give ONE STAR as the instructions said HOEHN desrves -1 star on most accounts
I took a car in for service and they didn’t fix the problem. I complained to the GM and he said they’d pick up the car and thoroughly investigate the problem. None of that happened. When I followed up with the GM and the service manager to let them know that none of what I was promised came true, I got no reply. It’s been a couple of weeks and I’ve been ignored. I gave them chances to correct their mistake and plenty of time to reply, but I haven’t heard a thing.
I have taken a number of cars there over the years so you’d think they’d want to keep a regular customer happy. Nope. I’m not going there again. Neither should you.
I will never buy a car the “old” way again. I decided that this time I was going to do everything over the INTERNET. I sent out emails to several local dealers and soon had several replies.
Among the lowest was one from Michael Witman Internet Manager at Hoehn Honda in Carlsbad. While some of the dealers were still trying to reel me in with “we won’t be undersold” lines, he was very direct and to the point. He made me aware of some of the different “ploys” that some dealerships use (hidden accessory charges not shown in the sale price, etc.) He told me what he had in stock and even offered to swap to get different colors if I wanted. And, we agreed on a very reasonable price for the car.
In short, it was the easiest car deal I ever had. I had all the numbers in writing before I ever went there and I was down the road in my new car in under an hour.
It was a great experience- simple, fast, and easy. Go Michael!
