Here’s a story on my experience with Wallingford Auto.
I bought a used 2003 Jeep Liberty this past February. The mileage for the jeep in its year was great- approximately 108,000 miles. It was very clean. I test drove the car and it seemed like a good fit for me. Towards the end of the test drive the car stalled and all of the lights lit up, so they said that they would bring it to the service area and fix whatever the problem was. We pick it up the next day, and things seem pretty normal. About a week to two weeks after I notice that there is something odd with the car. There was an exhaust leak, but I felt there was something more. I was very unhappy and felt taken advantage of with the fact that I am a female and have little knowledge of cars. I wrote an awful review of Wallingford Auto, and within that day I get a call from the manager. He said he wants to keep his customers happy, so he would have the problems fixed free of charge if I did him a “favor” and took the review down. I accepted. Things after that in accordance to the jeep were great… until not even a few months later there were more problems.
They were unnoticeable– check engine light, nor any other light, came on. I figured no lights were on so it must be okay to drive, until the engine started making a knocking noise. Sure enough, we call Wallingford Auto and they offer a “free diagnostic.” On the way carefully driving it, the engine blew. We had to tow it the rest of the way there! And you know what? No check engine light came on. I found this very odd. My boyfriend confronted the manager and told us that we were accusing their company of doing something and told him to get off of the lot, even though my boyfriend was simply asking. We find out through a few mechanics later on that jeeps of certain years have the ability to have the computer disconnected. This made me furious. This is why when we had an outside mechanic hook it up to their computer, it could not read/find the car AT ALL.
The service people called my mom once they had a diagnostic and said it “may” be a blown motor and offered “suggestions” on what they could do. My mom said that she didn’t want to repair it through them and needed time to figure out what to do. We weren’t able to drive it off of the lot so it sat there for a while. Someone from Wallingford Auto called my mom and told her they were going to start charging for using a space because they had a “big shipment and needed every space they could get.” My mom called a company to have it towed off of the lot. We brought it to the same outside mechanic as mentioned earlier, and he tried connecting it again. Sure enough, it reads the car and the check engine light turns on! We see the list of problems, engine failure, fan failure, etc.
My best guess is they sold it to me already on the verge of engine failure (because what car all of a sudden has engine failure within not even three months//less than 1700 miles driven after purchase?), and I also believe they disconnected the computer before we first got the car and reconnected it during the “free diagnostic.” But like I said, that’s just my best guess. Everyone has their own opinion and story to share, and this is mine.
The ratings say it all.
My experience with Wallingford Auto Park was a good one! My salesman Gary did an exceptional job on delivering all that was asked and promised. I went to Auto Park with my mind made up on what I wanted. The price was great and when I saw the car in person it made my decision that much easier! I mean the car was in beautiful condition. I couldn’t have been happier! Gary was great at answering all of my questions and getting me what I needed for the car. When delivery of the car was ready to my surprise the Manager had gifted me with four new tires when I really only needed two, I was estatic! From start to finish I was treated with care. Christina in the finance department worked her magic as well. I would definitely come back to purchase another vehicle,as well as tell family and friends! I’d like to thank the entire team at Wallingford Auto Park for taking such good care of me! I know this is just the beginning of a long time relationship for years to come!
Bought my first real car from this dealership, and I am very happy. Manny was very helpful and took his time with me. I will go back for every car I decide to purchase. If anyone goes to buy a car go see Manny, I promise you will be very happy, not only with your purchase but with manny as weel.
What a great experience! Rick was excellent with follow-up and was a pleasure to deal with. I love my new car and Wallingford Auto Park made to easy and painless.
My experience at Wallingford Auto Park initially was a pleasant one; the sales person and manager were courteous, and their staff very efficient with the paperwork, it took less than an hour to complete. The price of the car was very competitive compaired to the same car found at other dealerships.
After I purchased the car however, it failed to start at the dealership; the service department then quickly charged the battery and I was on my way. A day later the “Service Engine” indicator appeared; I brought the car back to Wallingford Auto Park and the issue was fixed at no cost to myself. Two weeks later the indicator re-appeared because of another issue (non-warranty related) which will require $2k in labor and parts to fix this and other maintenance issues, one of which is to flush and replace the radiator coolant because it is of the wrong type (BMWs use a non-phosphorous (blue, not green) coolant.) Had I been wiser, I would have had the car examined at another service center prior to its purchase.
Should anyone consider trading in their old car at this (or any other) dealership, might I suggest researching the actual selling value of your trade-in, not the whole-sale or “blue book” value, and use this as a starting point for your negotiation. I discovered later that Wallingford Autopark sold my trade-in for far more than what they had offered me…in my opinion.
First and Foremost, I would like to Thank you very much for your compliments to Wallingford Auto Park. I am glad that you appreciated our hard work ensuring you had/have a great experience with us from start to finish.
As far as the Service situation with the vehicle, I am VERY sorry to hear that you had an issue with the vehicle. As you did mention in your review in so many words, we do stand behind our vehicles and their warranties. Might I also say that this vehicle was purchased “As-Is” and even though we were not legally required, we still stood behind our vehicle and repaired the issue. We do everything in our power to be fair and sell a quality product.
The owner spends hours upon days researching and buying vehicles that meet our standards here at Wallingford Auto Park. Once the vehicles arrive we then subject them to a vigorous 108 point inspection in which our Service Dept. also makes sure the vehicle meets our standards of quality.
Thank You again for choosing Wallingford Auto Park and we wish you many quality years with your new-to-you 2000 BMW !!

It was a pleasure working with Michael. He was friendly, knowledgable, and very professional. Everyon at the dealership was great and I would not only reccomend Wallingford Auto Park but next time i need a car that will be my first stop. I have already referred them to family and friends and will continue to do so. Thank you again to everyone there, especially Michael.
Upon walking into the dealership there was a great up-beat and welcoming atmosphere. They were busy but still took the time to help me find exactly what I was looking. My sales-person Michael was a great people person and really sealed the deal with his patience and passion towards customer satisfaction. I got the car I always wanted and would like to thank the entire Team at Walingford Auto Park for going the extra Mile!
Wallingford Auto Park was the most welcoming car dealership I have ever been too. Manny Alvarez was a huge help. He was by far the best seller you could buy from. The way he shared his experience and personality toward our new car gave us a great outlook. I would highley recommend going to Manny Alvarez at Wallingford Auto Park.

The service I received was great, especially from my sales person Manny Alvarez. He didn’t pressure me at all nor call me constantly to get to buy. He made promises to fix the small issues I wanted taken care of. He made sure that I show the mechanic the small issues so they could be repaired. Manny was very nice, helpful, and didn’t force me to a specific car. He showed me only what I wanted to see. He was also very quick with his service and never had me waiting. My financial person Chris was also great and stood by his promise to get me approved. I would definately recommend this place and come back in the future.

We’re very pleased with the service we received from Wallingford Auto Park. We called the dealership when we found the car we were looking for online. I spoke to Manny on the phone. He was helpful and had the car ready for us when we arrived. After a test drive, he worked with us to get to get a price we could agree on, and even got a few small things fixed for us. It was busy at the dealership, but Manny always kept us in the loop about where we were in the process. We’re very happy we went to Wallingford Auto Park and would have no problem recommending this dealership and especially Manny for his expertise!
