I was looking at purchasing a used Dodge Diesel truck. I will say that this dealerships selection is better than most. However, this is a “Dodge” dealership. They will not certify or warranty or guarantee ANYTHING once it leaves the lot, unless you shell out more cash. I would think that if you are selling your “Brand’s” used vehicles that at the minimum, those vehicles would be certified. With that said, I drove two hours because I saw a few trucks that I wanted to take a closer look at. When I arrived, nobody said anything to me (This isn’t always bad!). I went back and started looking. After I was coming back from the lot, I was finally asked if there was anything the sales lady could do. I also think it was by chance she ran into me, not that she saw me and was coming to help. I told her what I saw and what I was looking for. The vehicle in question was there, but it took 20-30 minutes and a lot of walking to find the key. When the truck was found and unlocked, it was explained to me that there was a problem with the left-rear brake caliper and it was being replaced. Fine, that wasn’t a problem. I opened the truck and the smell wasn’t horrible, but like it was very stale and a hint of mildew. I began looking through the vehicle. I noticed corrosion and rust on the seat mounting brackets and seatbelt brackets. The truck was only 6 years old, I would have expected a bit better. I felt like I was being rushed. I couldn’t test drive the vehicle!!! I made an offer that I believe was fair for the year model and the known condition. I was countered and understanding that they have to make money, I thought it was somewhat reasonable. It was 1,000 less than original price. There were a few things that I had to verify about the requirements THAT truck would have to meet. I must also say that the sales manager mentioned these trucks were bought at auction and repaired. So I then inquired about another vehicle. I test drove it, not bad. It met all of my requirements other than year model and mileage. I went to work with my bank for financing. I have been with this bank for 10 years and they have ALWAYS done right by me. The bank said the vehicle was worth less than the asking price. I showed the sales manager the bottom line, which was about 700$ less than the “out the door” price. They wouldn’t budge. He offered to finance me at twice the interest rate my bank offered. Really? You want me to double my interest rate because you won’t come down to the vehicle’s actual worth? This took right around 4 hours! I left the dealership still calling my bank and the dealer to try and make the deal! I was about 15 min down the road and was on the phone with salesman, who asked if I would be interested in a Ford. I turned back around only to find that it didn’t fit the requirements and was shown another truck that wouldn’t start. This was yesterday. Today, I have told all of my co workers about this place and will review this experience on every review site I can find. Also check the Better Business Bureau; they are not accredited with them either! Buyer Beware! Be ready to be there awhile and you had better know what you are looking at. Without any guarantees, I have a feeling that after signing the dotted line I would have been on my own. I am glad I slept on it and made the right choice not to buy.
