This has been the most horrible lease experience of my life! I spoke with a salesman there, Charlie. I told him what I was looking for, and stressed that my number one priority is having a very good in car navigation system. After speaking with him, and going over pricing etc. I decided (in September 2018) to lease a new RDX 2019. I went in to sign the lease agreement and leave a deposit. When I arrived I was met with ‘I quoted you incorrectly, the quote you were given was for a car without a technology package’ I was annoyed, and since I said the navigation was most important, I wasn’t sure how this mistake was made. After going over everything, I decided to go ahead with it, and paid a higher price.
I went to pick up the car, immediately I am met with my first issue. There is a crack in the mirror case. I am assured that it happened on delivery, and they are so sorry and a new part has been ordered and they will contact me as soon as it comes in to replace. A little over 2 months later that has not been taken care of.
Now my most recent and biggest problem occurred the other day. (Keep in mind it is 2018, and the BRAND NEW CAR is a 2019)
I am a female who works LATE night hours, and is on the road for work, many times in neighborhoods I am unfamiliar with. I rely heavily on my navigation.
The other day I put in an address and began my trip. While on the road I felt like it had been a long time since my navigation last said I should be turning, I looked down at it and noticed the whole screen was frozen. I tried to cancel and re-put in guidance but it would not allow me to, it just froze. I went to turn off my radio to call someone, but to my unhappy surprise the radio was frozen too and would not shut off or lower the volume. I pulled over, turned the car off, but the radio still remained on. I tried multiple times but no luck. I was forced to get out of my vehicle in the middle of the night, in a neighborhood I was not familiar with, in order to make a phone call (since I would not be able to over the radio that would not shut off) I had to walk around alone looking at street signs to help get directions from someone on the phone.
Eventually later in the night the system re-set and the radio turned off, and the navigation appeared to be working.
I called the dealership the next day to see what could be done. Charlie did not call me back until multiple messages were left. I spoke to the sales manager, Anthony, who did not care at all. He told me it is a service issue and to speak to them. Service was not accommodating. I finally got the car in to them, and they had not even marked down that I was coming and getting a loaner.
After thy checked out the car, they did a reset, but actually admitted that they can’t guarantee it won’t happen again. They said Acura is aware of situation and working on a permanent solution. I explained to them that this is unsafe for me. No one there cares at all!
They even had the audacity to suggest I use a navigation in my phone.. (well first of all, if that is such a great suggestion they should stop charging me the higher price for the technology package, and secondly if the radio won’t shut off, how am I supposed to hear the phone navigation?!)
They said if it happens again come back,.. well that’s nice of them, if it happens again I first need to hope I am not in a dangerous area when I need directions. Than if nothing happens to me I can bring the car in to be temporarily fixed again.
Did not want to honor advertised price on a 2010 acura MDX. Added hidden fees would not repair large scratch on rear bumber, this was a $36,000 used car. Sales staff was rude and dishonest. Dealer business practices are deceitful. Did not buy car from dealer.
Stay away from Smithtown Acura in St. James, Ny. They did not want to honor an advertised price on a 2010 MDX(which wasn’t that good of a deal anyway) Ted the manager finally agreed over the phone to the price. When at the dealer, I was met by Ted who had an obvious attitude. When discussing the price he added hidden charges, $400.00 for cleaning the car. There was a large scratch on the rear bumber that Bill the salesman said would be repainted, Ted said the car is as is. I found the sales staff to be rude and dishonest and the dealership practices deceitful. Needless to say I did not buy the car. Be warned.
My name is Christine DiGiacomo. I have an issue with a new car dealership, Smithtown Acura located in St. James NY. I have brought my car in 3 times now for the same problem. When I first went to take the car home, there was a huge scratch on the the trunk, and a huge hair was inside the new window tint. I also decided to add a protective coating called xzilon. That day I took a loaner home instead, so they can repair the scratch, re-do the tint, and apply the coating to the interior and exterior of the car. I went to pick it up, everything looked fine. I washed my car about 2 weeks later (coating was supposed to sit for a week), and noticed there were many water spots everywhere, scratches, and major haze and swirl marks all over the car. I contacted the dealer via email, and they said to bring the car back, and they would issue a full refund that day. I said that was not what I was asking, I want the paint to look as good as the day I saw it, the original day I was supposed to take it home. So I brought the car back, got my second loaner, and they said since I do not want their detail dept to touch the paint again, since they messed up the paint on the trunk, they would have the xzilon mobile unit come in and fix it. So, I left my car again and took my second loaner. I received a call, from the MGR of the dealership, and she said the xzilon guy wants to speak to me bc he cannot find the spots and scratches I was referring to. I told him to look everywhere, because that’s where they are. Car is done, I go in 2 days later to pick it up. I walk into the shop, it looks, good inside, but I still noticed the marks in the front. The service guy at the dealership said, :oh sorry, they didn’t show me this spot, I will buff it again.” I had 2 problems with this, they pretended to have the xzilon mobile unit come in and fix it, when they never did, and the had their service guys touching the paint again, when I specifically asked to use someone else. Now he makes the paint worse. So we go into the sunlight, and the car barely even shines now. He took the electric buffer to the ENTIRE car, now it just looks like a hallogram. Now they said they will take it to a body shop they use, and they will fix it. 1 day later, the car is ready. Looks the same. I actually took my car to an autobody shop today, to get a second opinion, and they said there is no way this car was wet-sanded and polished, it would never look the way it does now if this was the case. So the dealership is lying to me, and as per corporate chooses not to attempt to fix this problem anymore. Corporate says because all acura dealerships are owned privately, they can pick and choose how they treat their customers, and if they want to deal with them. This is unfair, I paid 35,000 for this acura, I have been trying to get this fixed for a little over 3 months now, and the dealership will not help me. What can I do?
Response to complaint of Chrisine DiGiacoma by Smithtown Acura:
Ms. DiGiacoma’s complaints were thoroughly addressed by the dealership. The dealership promply replied to every complaint and in response, the finish to her vehicle was reapplied by the warranty company. In addition, the vehicle was also detailed at the dealership’s expense.
Ms. DiGiacoma has failed to submit a report from any third party which substanitates her complaint. Therefore, it is respectfully submitted that her complaint is without merit and should ber viewed accordingly.
I dont believe anything Smithtown Acura says. Very Deceitful staff.
OMG stay away from here, the financing chick named Karen is horrible. I put her right in her place. She is rude and obnoxious a total loser. She basically sabotaged my salesman’s sale (Rich great guy). I would totally avoid them until they fire that loser. She wanted to force us into financing with them which I refused. I already had a great rate with Capital one. She made up a bunch of lies regarding the process which was total bull. I took my check and my business elsewhere (Acura of Ramsey: Brandon is awesome) and purchased my vehicle yesterday. The salespeople are nice as well as the general manager but that Karen chick is a total B! I just don’t get how a “luxury” vehicle dealer has such garbage working for them. 😡
Salesperson was honest and offered a good deal. Issue is with Finance manager Karen. Used unethical bait and switch tactics. Was hostile and aggressive and made false representations on the rate, offering better rate only if I purchased added warranty or options. Which is illegal. If you are going to buy from them secure financing from outside the dealership or be prepared to get ripped off!!

Better then expected. I went to dealer to return lease. My Mercedes sales person was there now. Based on my previous experience with this dealership the new management Palma/George went above and beyond to ensure a positive experience with my new car. Looks like they have hired some great professionals at this dealership. Great deal! Love the car!
