I have owned several Volvo’s in my days, 1 purchased from Klein and many from Borton. So I can say that I have some experience of both buying and servicing Volvo’s at the 2 Minneapolis dealerships. To me there is no comparison, and you can figure out who I prefer to do my business with. The last purchase was an overseas delivery which was great. A new S60 and a fantastic trip paid by Volvo for me and my wife. The car has only been in for routine oil changes and has held up extremely well for the 2 years we have had it. My other one, a S80 was recently in for a timing belt replacement, and the service was top notch. I am impressed that I can get a loaner when I need so that I can do my business and also test the latest Volvo how it drives. Borton has to me been a great dealership. No complains whatsoever.

I came in to diagnose a navigation problem. After charging $130 Diagnostic they came to the same conclusion I gave them….and wanted $1000 plus to fix it. When I aksed if they could simply lower the unit into the dash they said no…you’ll have to buy a new one to accomplish that. I ended up being able to do it myself by removing the disk and tampering with the unit.
Horrible shop…the only goal of this group is to take your money. not solve your problems. Take the time to travel to any other dealer as most Volvo dealerships are great. Borton Blows!
I can honestly say that my love for Volvo’s is a direct result of the positive experiences I have had with Kline Volvo. You can love your Volvo but if you had to take it to Borton for service or to trade-in, anyone would begin to resent their car due to poor customer service. Since my poor experiences at both Borton stores I have turned to Kline Volvo and had a 360 experience. I purchased a new Volvo in November 2009, I received a fair trade-in amount, a fair purchase price, and excellent financing. I live in Edina so I wasn’t excited to drive across town to have my car serviced but Jody in service suggested that she send out one of her driver’s to pick up my vehicle and drop it off after it was serviced. I was at work and I didn’t have to leave to sit in a waiting room for 3 hours. When they delivered my vehicle back to me they washed the inside and outside of my car – even sprayed down my floormats! Kline Volvo has set the bar and I appreciate everything they have done to win over my business!
I meant to post this on Kline’s page so they could have the proper rating they deserve.
Absolutely TERRIBLE.
Run, don’t walk. Run.
I read a LOT of negative reviews about Borton before I brought our 2005 Volvo S60 in for a repair. For some reason, I didn’t believe that THIS many people could be so unsatisfied with one dealership. I now wished that I hadn’t give the dealer the benefit of the doubt.
The customer “service” was absolutely horrendous. The service department was EXTREMELY rude. Aggressive, smug – plain out rude. The two people I encountered in my TWO trips for the same repair were terrible. “Doug” was one of the rudest customer service reps I have encountered in any situation. Terrible business practices employed by their group. All of the negative reviews are true. If you see a positive review on this place – it was written by a Borton employee or a delusional idiot.
I wouldn’t advise ANYONE except my worst enemy to bring their car to Borton for repair or service. My car will NEVER under ANY circumstance return to Borton. Terrible, terrible customer service. I can’t imagine how our two experiences here could have been any worse.
You’ve been warned. Choose elsewhere. Positive reviews for Gorsche and Uptown Imports are everywhere. It is too bad it took us $850 to find this out.
