We bought a used car, from a guy who was transfered back home (after putting only 882 miles on the car), good for us! When we bought the car, the seller mentioned that he had purchased the car new from Tracy Mazda. The dealership had lost the second key for the car during delivery but told him to pick it up when he came back for the first oil change at 3,400 miles. The seller even called Amhed (his salesman), and confirmed that this agreement on the key was transferable.
Since we do not put many miles on the car, when it was time for the oil change the salesman was no longer there. 🙁 The General Manager/Sales Manager, Dave Brown, refused to give us the key due, because he could not find anything in writing and the salesman was no longer employed there, thus no way to confirm the verbal agreement. All we were told is that we were not a customer, so nothing was owed to us. So we had the original owner try to talk to the General Manager, who does appear in their records as a customer of Tracy Mazda as well as the fact that only one key was delivered with this new vehicle. Once again, the General Manager would not honor this simple promise to provide a second key with the car they delivered. I understand that legally he is right, but from a customer service perspective, this stinks and is surely no way to attract new customers.
Needless to say, we will never be a customer of Tracy Mazda, and we encourage you to be very careful if you are considering becoming one. If you find yourself there, get every part of your agreement in writing so they don’t go back on their word with you as well.
I used to work at Tracy Mazda in sales. I know both Ahmed and Dave Brown personally. I simply can not believe this review. This complainant was not even a customer and gave Tracy Mazda a one rating. Totally and completely unfair. The complaint involves an alleged oral agreement to provide a second key to a private party who purchased a Mazda from a party who was the actual original customer of Tracy Mazda. Customers are entitled to two new keys and a full tank of gas when they buy a new car. This complainant was not the purchaser. What does a new key cost, a couple of hundred bucks tops if has a computer chip in it and the remote, if any, needs to be programmed. Quite simply, if it is not written in a due bill then no dealership in America needs to honor an alleged oral representation made by a saleman. They got their one good key. Why don’t you ask for a new set of floor mats while you are at it even though you purchased your “used” Mazda from a private party. Wow!
