Scammer dealership. Vindictive damage to car. Let me start from the top. My engine seized, so I had to buy a car, or I wouldnt be able to get to work. I went to This dealer and they told me that “they could not sell me the car at the advertised price, they would need to tack on $2950 for the certification (pre-owned 2 year warranty)”. I told them that was bait and switch, and they said that I could refuse it, but if it didn’t make sense for them (his words), they could reserve the right to not sell me the car. I refused it. I saw a 900 charge MARKED AS A SERVICE FEE (as in, I brought my car into their shop for service), which I disputed with corportate and they told VW I bought a 5 year interior warranty?? I’ve never heard of that warranty, nor do I know what the hell it is. Also the tires were unsafe, and I didn’t know til I took it on the highway. Dealer said too bad, tires aren’t covered under warranty. I spoke to the sales manager, and he said come back tomorrow, he’d take care of it. then again the next day. and the next day. and the next day. I wasn’t going to be dicked around, so I called VW and told them they sold me an unsafe car. Then they said they’d replace the tires. I told VW i didn’t want to give them my car, to send the tires to another dealership. They said only that dealer can do it, and I knew what was going to happen next, I just didn’t know exactly what it was going to be… I brought the car in, and while it was there, they scratched up my paint (really deep, dirt in em, going to have to repaint) key’d the hell out of my headlight, tried to hide damage to the hood with paint (you can see the orange peel and dirt in the touch up paint), took my bumper off and broke clips apparently since it doesn’t hang correctly, and most importantly DELETED MY PERFORMANCE TUNE. that tune costs 600 bucks and they sell it there. that’s how they planned to get me to pay for the tires: claim I never had a tune (which I know I did), tell me it would cost 600 bucks to get a new one. called the tuner’s 800 number and they said they would not disclose to me what the previous owner had on the car, so I knew they knew I would have no proof I had it in the first place. went to another dealer and they gave me my tune back. manager said on the phone “so they transferred the tune warranty to you for free?”, which to me is admitting that you were trying to hit me for extra money, since a minute before he denied that I had a tune in the first place. Also, they broke my air vent flap when I came in to talk about tires the first time. they took it from me to ‘check it out’. Damn air vent flap costs 50 bucks online….I bought that car on the condition that it had that tune on it. and they got rid of it on me. The other dealer guy told me he used to work here. he knew them all by name and knew they deleted it. his exact words “they didn’t just lock you out, they deleted it. they wanted to pay for the tires somehow” EXTREMELY CROOKED. do not even look at cars here. I hope this is helpful to those who are looking to spend their hard earned money.
Right off the bat, we realized that something was shady when we got there because the salesperson started filling out paperwork before we even got to test drive the car. he was asking about our financial information before we even committed to buying a car. after we told him that we’d prefer to wait on the paperwork, he was reluctant but did put the pen down. finally, we got to test drive the car and decided that we wanted to make a deal. well, the car that we came in to see was price really fairly on the internet. however, we soon realized that it was just a way to get us through the door. once they started up the paperwork, they added many fees on top of that low listing price. a “misting” fee of $500 was added and required. then another fee of $3000 was added on top of that since they said it was “pre-certified”. we were certainly misled into believing that this was a good deal. of course, we had to then bargain it down to a price that we
were ok with. but, you can see where that was rather shady business right there. and we really should’ve seen that as a sign and just walk out of the dealership but we thought maybe that was the worst of it. well, after getting rushed through the paperwork, we inspected the car one more time and didn’t notice anything. and here’s the real kicker. when we got home, it was late so we parked it for the night in the garage. the next morning, i pulled it out of the garage, looked at it from afar and noticed that there was a poorly fixed dent on the hood! i take partial blame for not seeing this BUT, i also blame the dealership for trying to slip this through hoping that the buyer wouldn’t notice. a certified vehicle should not be like this, according to Volkswagen’s guidelines. so, let’s just say the next week was crazy and they ended up not wanted to replace the hood. so, finally the manager told us that we could return the car. we thought, “wow, finally they are taking responsiblity for this crap that they’ve put us through”. he told us to bring the car back but they would charge us for the mileage. we thought that was fair so agreed. well, when we got down there, the manager (Mr. G.) added additional fees on top of that and when we asked him why he said one thing on email and then changed all that when we got there, he said “i had to say something to get you guys to bring the car back to me”. That was totally dishonest and unprofessional. We will never go there again and I really hope that if anybody does business with them, check the car THOROUGHLY and watch out for signs typical of a shady dealership.
Spent a great deal of money on a used car with them. Flew someone else in from out of town to pick up and drive the car back for me. Relied on dealership to give me an honest and critical review of the cars condition prior to the purchase. My driver arrived with signed paper work in hand. Picked up the car and drove it home > 1000 miles.
The car arrived obviously NOT fully detailed, with 2 scratches in paint one small and one significant on hood. Furthermore the car has an odd smell throughout the inside which I have yet to figure out how to get rid of. They claim no prior knowledge on either point, however the marks are filled in with touch up paint and I cannot see how you could even wash the car and not notice. The price was virtually non negotiable and in fact they added on $$$ for a “mist treatment” they do to reduce odors and allergens for the safety and comfort of their customers. I did want the car but had I known all of the above I would still be shopping. The dealership has done nothing to compensate me and I have to have body work done on a 2012 vehicle right upon purchase. And I spent several hours cleaning and attempting to deordorize the car. Not pleased with this dealership
I feel for you. I had a horrible experience as well and was told that i had to pay for the “misting” fee that i never asked to have done to the car. my car had a huge dent on the hood that was poorly fixed and this was supposed to be a CERTIFIED vehicle. the general manager was dishonest and unprofessional.
I went to this dealership looking for a used G35, there was one that listed for $18,898. The employee I worked with was a nice guy, but the dealership is an extreme rip off, first they had told me that I was declined by all of the banks that they use for a loan (including Bank of America), and they’re loan was the best rate I would get at 6.77%. Not only that but they would not come down on the price even a single dollar!!! I was there for 4 hours trying to work out a deal with them because I really wanted this car. He kept coming back with only reducing the interest rate by .10% each time. They had also told me that my credit score was 698… I left because I knew this was a rip off.
I had attempted to contact Bank of America on my own and had gotten approved almost instantly for $20,000 with a 5.00% interest rate.
I had gone to another dealership a mile away found the exact same car in better condition than theirs, they gave me a 4.25% interest loan, and told me my credit score was 758!!!
After I clearly told Autobarn I was not interested anymore they had sent me numerous emails and called me many times stating the price was “a steal”. I will never deal with any Autobarn because of this experience and I would never recommend this dealership to anyone else… you have been warned!
