I brought my car in, via tow truck. The problem was my timing belt. My car was in the shop for 10 days, and the service advisor said he tried to call my phone, however there were no missed calls on my phone. Long story short, I picked my car up, they had “fixed” the timing belt, two pulleys and a tensioner. I got one hour away from Summit Ford, into Barrie and my serpentine belt completly ripped off, bolts were flying behind me, my anti freeze resevoir had burst and was pouring anti freeze. I pulled over and called them, they literally were empathetic and said that my car had numerous problems before they “fixed” it. I was distraught and upset, as my car lost all control on the 400 N series. They were wanting me to find a tow truck to get it back to them, with the possiblity of paying for the tow, had they found the problem was related to their doing, like I unbolted those screws myself, from behind the wheel, while driving on the 400..
I brought my car to Barrie Ford and they called Summit Ford to assure they were responsible for poor workmanship. THe mechanic at Barrie Ford was able to hand unscrew my altenator, as my belt and pulleys layed sideways and ripped to pieces in my engine compartment.
Shame on the lack of responsibilty and workmanship. Barrie Ford also reminded Summit Ford that they were paying for me to have a rental vehicle, now that mine was to be in the shop again for a bit. I would not recommend Summit Ford to anyone! EVER!
I went into Summit Ford for a simple oil change for my corolla two weeks before a road trip because they were running a special for $19.95. They put new oil in and a new air filter and they told me everything else looked great with my car which had 114,000 miles on it. Halfway through the trip my oil light came on and so I added oil. A day later it came on again and then my engine started to make a weird clicking sound and as we were pulling over we saw smoke come out the back. A cop pulled a U turn to tell us that my car’s undercarriage was on fire. I had to be towed 70 miles to a repair shop and my engine is probably ruined, still waiting on the results. Bang up job Summit Ford.
Of all the places I’ve dealt with in my travels, this dealership topped them all. I absolutely knew what my vehicles problem was, told them and they blatantly disregarded that information and decided that a much more expensive fix was the problem. Almost a 1200 dollar difference, I’m just lucky I knew better.
