I would not even give one star to Shockley honda. The paint on top of my HONDA PILOT (2014) is peeling and I you must go to a dealer to fulfill the requirements from American Honda. Yes, I did not purchase my car from Shockley but you would think I would be treated with respect and honesty as if I had purchased my car from this dealer.
Receiving response:
We understand your frustration with your paint issue. Because you did not purchase or service the car with Shockley Honda, we can only assume you declined a paint protection warranty at the time of sale. (We would advise contacting your selling dealer to verify if you did in fact decline the paint protection) Although we are not your selling or service repair dealership, we acted as a liaison between you and American Honda resulting in a 50% reimbursement for a 5 year old car out of warranty. Many don’t realize that a dealership is a separate business from American Honda. The dealership sells and services the vehicle; the manufacturer builds them and is solely responsible for goodwill decisions outside of warranty. We went to bat for you with American Honda and they agreed to split the cost with you. We are posting the American Honda Customer Service number here once again so you can continue to address the issue with the decision makers. They can be reached at: 1-800-999-1009. Best wishes.
Within the first sentence I will call out that this is not my paint issue. This is a Honda paint issue that continues to be neglected and pushed under the radar so that it does not become public. Now onto your statement regarding your advocacy for the Honda paint issue. Please let me know if I received improper counsel from your staff and Honda that in order for someone to put a claim thru Honda I must speak with a dealership-True? Because both Honda and your dealership mentioned this was the required process and I can forward that email to you. Now onto some other interesting points I would like to make the Paint protection warranty you mentioned I was able to reach out (Simoniz) and addressed the paint issue and even sent them a picture. They were able to confirm that “we would not have been able to cover this issue; paint protection warranty protects the surface of the paint against bird droppings, tree sap, hard water, etc.” If I had purchased this warranty that you suggested if would not have been covered and they would not be able to assist with the Honda paint issue that we are trying to address. My only hope is that all the warranties that have been currently sold to customers were explained properly. If you would like the contact information to verify I would be more than happy to supply.
I don’t believe you went to “Bat” for me. I did not purchase my vehicle from you and you did the minimal and required steps in order to satisfy your requirements from American Honda.
In closing, to the paying customers that purchased your car at Shockley Honda in the last couple of years please be prepared for these statements:
I know that I sold you this car but I did not have prior knowledge of the paint issue.
I will deny there is anything wrong with the paint. It must have been something you had done.
I will not stand behind a product I represent – I am only here to sell and service the vehicle.
They will throw their arms up in the air behind a brick wall and glass windows and say there is nothing else I can do because your warranty of 3 years and 36000 miles have expired. YOU have a 5 year old car.
They will say there are on your side and please be ready to spend over 700.00 for repairs for a car that you paid over 40,000.00
I am truly sorry for the customers that are going to go through this ordeal and to the future customers:
You make your decision .
On July 5, 2010, my wife and I attempted to but 2 vehicles….a Honda CR-V and a Chevy Corvette
Honda CR-V even in excellent condition should be around $7500 (price between retail and private party)
It was listed at $7991
Corvette – $23500 (again between retail and private party)
It was listed at $25991
We discussed a trade in Hyundia Sonata – good condition – retail = $13550 – trade in good condition = $8825
Let’s do the math – 23500+7500 = 31000 minus trade = 22175……I asked for 22k and was willing to go to 23K – no discussion was really even offered. I did overhear some salesperson manager asking our salesman, in quite a nasty manner, if we should just get it for free.
The dealership’s first offer on the Sonata trade in was $7800……when the “final” price came back, the trade in had dropped to $5800
The most interesting thing is that the dealer didn’t want to allow the internet price of $24991 but kept pushing the lot price of $25991.
A 2003 Corvette Z-06 with 31k miles at Criswell is only $27506…….far better model and 4 years newer – only $2500 difference?? ??
Summary: we agreed on a price for a Honda Accord and I paid a deposit. When I was supposed to pick up the car, they told me I had to pay an extra $750. They don’t dispute that we had an agreement for the lower price. The details are below.
I contacted the Shockley Honda internet department to purchase a 2010 Accord EX-V6. I was quoted a price for the car and called to confirm the price, financing terms, color, and delivery date. The sales person (Emily Moore) confirmed the price ($22275+ TTL+freight for a total of 23,796 out the door) and financing terms (1.9% for 60 months). When we spoke, Emily told me that she accidentally quoted me the 2009 price, but that she would honor the deal if I made the purchase. I paid a $500 deposit via credit card and she agreed to have the vehicle ready two days later. The next day, I received an email stating they were having trouble finding the color I wanted and I responded with an alternate color choice.
The day that I was supposed to pick up the car, I got a call from Coy Chaney who said he would work on finding the alternate color. Later during the day I was supposed to pick up the car, a sales manager called and told me that the price was going to increase by $750. I later spoke to the general manager (Bill Devine). Bill said he was sorry that they had agreed to the lower price, but he was no longer able to honor that agreement. He said the salesman should not have offered me the financing rate and the price that she did. He told me that I could either pay more or not get the car. Bill stated that Shockley Honda has the right to change any agreement until you drive the vehicle off the lot. You should be afraid to deal with this dealership that refuses to honor its agreements.
