Larson Hyundai of Tacoma… buyer beware
In Feb 2014 we went to Larson and bought a “new” 2013 Hyundai Accent off their showroom floor. The vehicle had aftermarket rims and tires to the tune of $1800.
We drove (moved) to Texas, and at under 9k miles on the car, a rear tire separated. We pulled into a tire shop in Austin and was told that the “low profile” tire couldn’t be ordered, or even found… we contacted the local Hyundai Dealer and found the same problem. We were also told that it was an $89 tire… a Z rated 89 dollar tire? Really?
We pulled our warranty info and found out that the warrantied tires that are supposed to be on the car, aren’t! Go figure… at that time we are also told that the rims are too big for the car, and that any other size tire will rub on the fender wells… and they do. We had no choice but to replace both rear tires… and now need to replace the front tires, rims, and also another set of rear tires before we have a “real” problem.
I got a hold of the store manager “Dick”, yep… no joke… and was conveniently disconnected. I was finally able to contact the service department, told the story, and was actually expecting to be contacted about the issues… a week has passed with no contact.
I have filed a complaint with the BBB, and so far that’s where I stand. BTW, my Gf and I have purchased at least 5 cars from Larson, and did not expect this kind of treatment… there are other car dealers out there… use one.

I am very disappointed with Larson Hyndai. What started as a good experienced, ended poorly. I contacted them through the website/email and ask that we get as much of the legwork done prior to me heading to the dealership. I asked what information they needed from me besides the credit application to expedite the process. Mikki was handling my online requests and did a good job. Mikki notified me that we were pre-approved and that the care we were looking at was ready for test drive. The day that I made an appointment to come in, some sales guy called me and was very uninformed. He didn’t seem to know why he was calling me and I had know idea why he was calling since all of the paperwork was done and I had scheduled a test drive. He asked me if coming at a later date would be better for me. I said no, I wouldn’t have made an appointment if I wanted it for another day???? It was obviously more convenient for him for me to move the appointment. He rambled on about my financing and the fact that he was confused. When I arrived at the dealership for my appointment he was not avaiable, but appointed Andrew to help us with the test drive. Everything went okay except for the e-brake sensor kept falsely going off during our test drive. After we test drove that specific vehicle we asked to test drive the second vehicle that we came there for. Just two hours before, the dealership said that they had both vehicles on the lot and the keys to both cars were available. For some reason, they didn’t want to show us the other car and was pushing the first car on us. So came numbers time. I am no fool at car purchases and I just wanted to get down to the nitty gritty, interest, down, sales tax and license, monthly payment. Easy! No, it wasn’t easy. They came to me with a proposed monthly payment that was for more that what I had calculated using the same interest rate, sales tax, etc!!! I asked to see the detail so I could find the discrepancy. They would not show me. I realized that they were adding a $2,000 warranty on to the purchase price. I told them we did not want that. The car was still under manufacturer warranty. Only an idiot would double up their warranties. They then said that the bank only approved our loan with that in it. That was just a bold faced lie. If anything, we would be financial less then what we were originally approved for………I don’t think the bank would mind that? Anyways, these guys said that they could not sell me the car because we did not want the warranty. Boy, that is a first for me. We had pre-approved financial, we were ready to go, but we just didn’t want the warranty (especially since the car is still under warranty!!!!!). So my guess is, that $2,000 was supposed to be their profit on the car, therefore, they wouldn’t sell the car to me without my buying that. The whole purpose of the financing was to help my daughter build credit. I’d bet if I brought cash, they wouldn’t have sold it to me without buying the warranty. Freaking ridiculous. I understand everyone’s got to make a buck, but if you wanted $15k for the car, then you should have advertised it that way. Heck, I didn’t even attempt to talk them down on the price. I would never, ever, ever recommend a Larson.
