Best car buying experience I’ve ever had. Will do business here again.
I had gone to look at this car on a Saturday night. Car sure looked good in the dark but wanted to come back the next day to double check. Salesperson pushed me into purchasing the car that night. Told him I needed to have my wife see it before purchasing it without her. Gave me this spill about others wanting to buy the car and I should give him a deposit. Even offered me lower price than offered on the internet. I took my chances and waited until Monday. Called the salesperson and said I wanted the car and to get the financing under way. During the signing of paper, the finance person had me sign this theft deterrent paper and I said I didn’t want it. She said it was all included in the price. Well it was added to the cost of the car. I said I didn’t want that. She said ” You recieved a lower price on the car and you will be getting the theft deterrent system.” On top of that she said I was required to get gap insurance. Because of the pressure I was dumb and signed them. Total cost for both was $994.00. Yeah I learned a big lesson. On a good note, I can cancel the theft deterrent and gap insurance through the companies with a small cancelation fee. Neither one of those things was required to purchase the vehicle. Just another way for a dealership to get a commission.
I purchased a 2003 Silverado pick up at Riverton Chevrolet 2 weeks ago. Four days after I left the lot the ABS light came on and it has gone on and off several times intermittently since then. I purchased with the vehicle a 24 month/24,000 mile extended warranty that has a $100.00 deductible. I understand that when purchasing a used vehicle you accept it “as is” and I was fully prepared to take the vehicle in for repair using the warranty and paying the 100 dollars even though I felt Riverton didn’t do their 117 point check which includes checking the computer for failure codes which I believe would have shown up before the purchase. That said, I got a call from my salesperson (voice mail) several days ago telling me he was just calling to make sure I was fully satisfied with my vehicle and if I had any issues please feel free to call back. So I did… I told him about the ABS light coming on 4 days after I left the lot and he asked me if I purchased a warranty, I said yes but I don’t want to pay the 100 dollar deductible. He said he understood and since it is an intermittent problem it couldn’t be much to repair so he told me to bring it in and take it to the service department. I brought it in today, 5/1/10, for repair but my salesman wasn’t there today so I went to guys in the “All knowing glass office” (where all salespersons go when dealing on prices) and I went through the same spiel with them including I don’t want to pay the deductible. They told me the same thing, “Take to service and let them look at it.” Once at the Service Department I went through the conversation once more with the service writer so he took it back and returned in 15 minutes telling me since I purchased the extended warranty on day one they won’t make the repair without the deductible being paid. I gathered from this that if I had not have purchased the warranty Riverton would have made the repair with no cost to me but since I did purchase the warranty I will have to pay the deductible and that doesn’t make any sense. To reiterate, I was prepared to pay myself for the repair, even though I didn’t think I should have to, when they called me and asked if there were any issues and tell me to bring it in with the understanding I’m not paying the deductible after I tell them the problem. They would have fixed it without the warranty but would not with the warranty. After this experience with Riverton Chevrolet, I won’t get the ABS problem fixed there neither will I buy parts from there for my truck or my other Chevy. I will tell my friends not to purchase from Riverton and I hope they will tell their friends and their friend’s friends not to buy there.
I was charged $200.00 for looking at 2 problems and was not given the cost upfront as to what they would charge. They also wanted to fix two problems that were not broke that would of cost me alot of money. I bought my last 2 vehicles from them and will not buy another vehicle from them again.
I have bought at least 18 Cars/Trucks from these guys.
NO loyalty to there clients. Last year we bought two in 3 months. Told them would be back in the next 30 days for the 3rd. So we went in to buy and where treated like crap, so we did not buy the 3rd one there. We did get a call about what jerks we are for not buying there.
I would say at least 2 cars a year. Is I good customer, when you lose them, that’s on the dealer.
