I bought my first car here about 3 years ago. My mom and I looked around for ever tying to find a good used car that was worth the price and will keep me safe and good on gas. We found and purchased an older toyota camry from them. The second week I had my car the transmission went out. I had to get it replaced and not long after that I had to put in another one because that one went out too.
I was told that my car was given to them by an older man (original owner) who couldn’t drive it anymore and he only drove it around town. Sounded great right? Sadly, no.
I have never been able to take the car farther than San Luis Obispo. (living in Santa Maria).
Very recently I tried taking my car to Santa Barbara and my engine is done for and Had to get towed back. My car is done for after 3 years. It should have lasted longer, it should not have needed a new transmission right when I bought it, and I don’t believe the story of where they got the car.
I really do not recommend buying from here. This situation is not a good one.
this owner / operator has been rock solid continuous
since 1969 when he opened. phil keeps himself emmersed in Bible study and it reflects in his business.
…. 43 years is quite a track record. kudos to quality motors.
I took my son to look for his first car for college, the owner met us in the parkinglot and I said i wanted to look at the Saturn, and he got the keys and showed us the car, he offered to let us take it for a test drive, and my son I took the car after he put gas in it. We were pleasantly surprised with his low key sales approach. After we test drove car and we decided to haggle over the price, he came down in the price, and when we told him we wanted to look some more he said I am going to give the normal sales pitch, and ask you what is it going to take to put you in this car, I said the price has to come under 5,000
and he reduced the price again. We still wanted to look a little more and he offered to hold the car if i put a deposit on the car so no one would buy it while we were looking, and he would hold it until monday. i had never heard of a used car dealership doing that. yes the deposit was refundable and we ended up calling back later that afternoon and confirming that we wanted to buy the car.
