Having worked in dealerships, I know that dealerships sometimes over promise and under deliver. However, when I called before my visit my call was promptly answered and transferred to Service. Amazingly it was a fairly short wait before Terry on the Service drive answered my call. As much as I pressed her for estimates regarding time and cost, she politely explained that without seeing the vehicle it was impossible to give such estimates. Well, the average customer may not understand that but I do and so I was impressed with her politeness even though I pressed her for a good ten minutes to give me estimates. Finally I decided I’d just drive right down there and let them take a look at my Ford Explorer to see what was up with the cruise control. I was a little dismayed that she did not tell me there would be a diagnostic charge but I let that ride because the diagnostic charge (I saw it on the service authorization) was considerably cheaper than you would find at an independent mechanic shop. Another surprise was that she suggested I wait and until the service techs could at least give a cursory diagnosis. Sure, why not? About 20 minutes later after shooting the breeze with another service customer I went back to Terry’s booth and got two more excellent surprises. First, the cure for my cruise control issue was a very simple fix. Second, even though the fix called for one hour flag time, the store was only going to charge me the diagnostic fee. That was over 50% savings – even though I told Terry several times I was more than willing to pay the full $95 for the one hour flag time. And there was one last pleasant surprise – they washed my car for me!!!
Great service department!
