I have purchased 3 Toyotas from Planet, refered 6 customers who purchased from Planet. My experience from sales to service has been fantastic since 2003. I will be purchasing the 2013 Avalon Hybrid and expect an exceptional sales experience
I recommend that you stay far away from the service department at Planet Toyota in Matteson, IL. They’re pretty scummy. I took my 2010 Toyota Prius here at 20,000 miles to get my oil changed and instead of $60 synthetic oil, they put $20 conventional oil in my car. According to the service department at another Toyota dealership, this can cause motor damage to my Prius. The customer service is anything but… they would not resolve my issue because I’ve since moved to another state. I have filed a complaint with Toyota’s corporate office and the BBB. Not only did Planet Toyota fill my car with the wrong oil, they tried to convince me to wait until my next oil change and insisted it would be fine.
Bottom line: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT. They obviously don’t have your best interest, nor the best interest of your vehicle, in mind. And, after reading several negative reviews online about that dealership in general, DO NOT BUY YOUR VEHICLE FROM PLANET TOYOTA. Their staff is comprised of scum. Go to another dealership if you want peace of mind.
Hi Denise,
Sorry for the problem you had, but our Service Manager Jim has been in touch with you and compensated you for you trouble. He also provided you additional oil changes and services at no cost. Once again we are very sorry you had a ppor experience.
P.S. By the way Scott is no longer employed at Planet Toyota.
Hi, as you can see, my review is over a year old. Jim did reimburse me for the oil change, but I did not receive any other free services or oil changes.
My primary concern was the damage that may have been done to my new vehicle because I drove 2k miles with oil that is not compatible with a Prius.
That is unfortunate news about Scott, I was hoping my feedback about his behavior would have taught him a little bit more about customer service.
I agree with you. I had a similar experience, in which they asked me to pay, again, to rectify a problem, which they did not cure in the first place.
I ill post the issue below.
If you’re coming in for more than an oil change, be prepared. Your vehicle will likely be due for some sort of maintenance, which will come to about $200 dollars or more. My last visit, I asked the service representative to have a problem checked. He said to check it out would cost me $56.00, “and if you do have the work done within 45 days, , the $56.00 will come off the total bill.” Note that this suggested “work” was only an illusion at this point. No problem had been discovered or diagnosed. For the second time in a year, I walked out of Planet Toyota with an estimate for over $900.00 worth of work. The time before this, I was told my heating system was “gone”, and the entire system needed to be replaces. Again, over $900.00. “We do have the parts in stock so we can get to work right away,” I was told. When I said I’d have to come back, suddenly the parts were NOT in stock, and I needed to put down a deposit in order to have the parts ordered to ensure I would return for the work. My intelligence and my confidence in Planet Toyota were destroyed. Since then I went to another facility and paid less than $300 for service to the unit, and it has been working fine ever since. I will not… will not… return.
This was by far the most pleasurable buying experiance, when my wife and I purchased a 2010 Toyota Venza, in the 30 years I have purchased new vehicles.
From start to finish and driving out the door, in less than 3 hours. Matt Trlak our sales person was honest and direct, and along with his sales manager Maen Judeh, no pressure was placed on us to purchase at that moment. Dealing was straight forward, with virtually every questioned answered. Mr. Trlak, was egar to explain the technology on this vehicle, and cover any question with no rush, or impatience.
Financing the vehicle with Glenn, went so smoothly, with no changing of numbers in pricing agreed upon, or pushing add ons. The price that was quoted was the price the car was delivered at. Financing took a total of 20 minutes start to finish.
I would recommend this dealership, to anyone in the market for a new Toyota! Plus I would recommend Mr. Trlak for his honesty, and product knowledge.
I will go back to Planet Toyota, without any hesitation.
Wasted a whole day of my time. Bad, dishonest business. Play all the dealer games. VERY disappointed!!!
