I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A RECALL ON MY 2009 ACCORD THE INFORMATION WAS GIVEN TO THE PERSON I WAS SPEAKING TOO. I WAS TO BE IN WITH THE CAR AT 7:15 AM ON 12/16 11 WHEN I GOT THERE I WAS TOLD THE SREVICE WAS DONE ON MY LAST VISIT….WHEN I CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER HE TOLD ME HE GETS UP EARLY EVERY DAY, WHEN I TOLD HIM HOW UPSET I WAS THAT I WASTED MY DAY OFF, HE SAID HE WAS SORRY BUT IT WAS HONDA’S FALT FOR SENDING ME THE RECALL AFTER THE SERVICE WAS DONE. WHY DID’NT OPEN ROAD KNOW THE SERVICE WAS ALREADY DONE?
On August 17, 2009 my husband and I walked into Open Road Honda in Edison, NJ. We came to an agreement after many hours of negotiating, we signed a contract and left a $500.00 required deposit. My husband’s old vehicle qualified for a $4500.00 deduction with the C.A.R.S. government incentive program. According to the binding contract we signed with them, the deduction was honored and taken off of the total cost of the new vehicle. We were told we did not need to bring in the “clunker” until our new car arrived. The new vehicle was in transit to the dealership and would be there within the next 12 days. Financing through them was a little shady and I was unable to get an exact APR with my husband and I on the loan. I decided to get a loan with another bank. On Aug. 19th, I called Wajid Rauf, our salesman, to let him know this and tell him know we would be dropping off the “clunker” the next day (Aug. 20th). On our way there, Wajid Rauf called and said the money ran out and they would not give us the deduction. I called the C.A.R.S. hotline and they said that was not true. We continued on our way to the dealership. When we got there, we were told by our salesman, Jamie Vasco the Sales Manager and Steven Park the General Manager that they have chosen not to participate in the program anymore and they would not honor the original binding contract. I argued that we had a signed contract that they took a deposit from us, but this did not matter to them. We called the Edison police department, so we could document this occurrence. On our way home, I made numerous phone calls to the dealerships we had recently visited. Some of which still participated in the program, so we had to make a hasty decision. We purchased another vehicle we are not totally happy with just so we could take advantage of the government incentive. This would not have been the case if this dealership did not back out of the original contract they signed with us! There were other shady things that happened during the negotiating process and I can elaborate later if need be. This dealership offers the lowest price to get you in the door with their “no hassle” special internet pricing, yet the entire process is nothing but! It should be exciting to purchase a new car. Instead, car dealers make it a process someone never wants to go through again! They try to take you for thousands right out of the gate and if you don’t know what you’re doing, you will get taken. It’s just wrong that they are able to do this to anyone. There is no doubt in my mind that if they were able to do that with us, we still be waiting for our new vehicle to arrive at their dealership with the original contract in good standing. We were told to get a lawyer and that we have a good leg to stand on.
Just to verify: I did originally purchase a vehicle from this dealership, but the dealership backed out at the last minute. The purchase never happened according to the dealership.
Open Road honda is a big dealership with some good inventory of new and used cars- great – and thats why i decided to drop in there.
I walk into the car display lot- a sales man approaches me.
He has’nt even reached near me when he shoots a question ” are you ready to buy a car today”
clearly shows a desparate and pressurizing attitude that a salesman should not have – not in the first minute a customer has walked in
And as I expected, his further talks revealed that he was a poorly trained salesman who behaved like he was hawking fake chanel and gucci bags on New York streets.
long story short- Stay away From Bill Toro .
zero professionalism- zero knowledge and complete pressure tactics.
If you find something you like at this dealership, try talking to someone else.
This is a decent dealership where you do get good deals- but not dealing with such pathetic salesmen.
I went into this dealershiop as prepared and informed as you could be, but they somehow managed to hide a variety of fees until the last minute. I did not buy and say they will return my deposit every time I call. It is several weeks later and I’m taking them to court. Do not buy from here. I have heard good reviews of other Mazda dealers, but these people are awful.
Of all the cars I purchased in my life, this was the worst. The persons, who work here, have either no training or they intend to be fraudulent. Every part of this relationship has been miserable. It has come to the point where I have had to take them to Court because they never paid off my trade-in and continued to lie about doing so.
The worst from the start!! They switched salesmen on us 3 times. Told us they could get us a car in 4 days 3 days after the 4 they still had no car. Kept giving us all the excused in the world as to why they could not deliver, then wanted more money! When I could not take it anymore I told them I wanted my deposit back for the car they did not get us. They then told me they could not refund my deposit (even when they said they would when I put it down) and I would just have to wait till they could get a car. I called my credit card company to put in a dispute. I am going to Wayne Mazda they have been very nice and told me up front how long it would take to get the car and where it was coming from.
This does not even come close to explaining what a bunch of snake oil salesmen they are!! They will not get you the car you want and will make your life hell while you wait tiring to sell you what is on there lot that you don’t want. If I could go back in time I would GLADLY pay the extra 800.00 from a real dealership
